"Although Mexico is a major trafficking hub for the highly potent synthetic opioid, it has so far avoided a consumption epidemic within its own borders."

"Mexico is far less predisposed than the United States to a fentanyl epidemic, some health officials and experts say, because it does not have the same history of prescription pain medication abuse and heroin consumption."

https://www.reuters.com/world/americas/fentanyl-use-spreads-deeper-into-mexico-worrying-authorities-2024-02-20/

Yeah “some health officials say” maybe this and maybe that. Let’s be honest they have no fucking clue who is doing fentanyl in Mexico because most of the place is a third world shit show. Love seeing you clowns cheerleading for foreign nations now that Trump won. Tracks perfectly with the America Last narrative.

I don't know how we knew American guns were an issue in Mexico before Trump became President Elect. Shoulder shrug emoji here.

"... Republicans simply ignore that the source of the cartels’ power is the hundreds of thousands of American-manufactured weapons of war that flow out of the United States and into the hands of the cartels. ..."

" ... More than 500,000 American-made guns are trafficked to Mexico every year, and seventy percent of firearms recovered from crime scenes in Mexico can be traced to the United States. ..."

Yet no one here talked about it at all until Trump won the election and wanted to crack down on illegals and drugs coming in. Now guys like Ray have pivoted to get on the president of Mexico’s side because he sees her as a hero taking on Trump. At the end of the day she’s the president of a third world country overrun with crime and cartels that people can’t wait to GTFO of, sounds like maybe she should get to work on that instead of blaming US gun manufacturers for their domestic issues.

Maybe she and Trump can sit down and find a middle ground but almost half of America wants Trump to fail so bad they don’t want to see him do anything that’s actually good for America.

"U.S. drug appetite feeds cartels 2009
https://www.nbcnews.com/id/wbna30946730

"This array of [American] consumers is providing a vast, recession-proof, apparently unending market for the Mexican gangs locked in a drug war that has killed more than 10,780 people since December 2006. No matter how much law enforcement or financial help the U.S. government provides Mexico, the basics of supply and demand prevent it from doing much good."
U.S. appetite for illegal drugs is insatiable

Horse shit. Republicans did everything in their power to undermine Biden.

I would hope Democrats do want Trump to fail to enact his stated agenda, because they want America and Americans to succeed.

Trump inherited a solid economy from Obama and now inherits a solid economy from Biden. All he has to do is do nothing and take credit.

I was in Mexico twice for vacation in 2009 and 10 and I remember my grandmother being worries that I was going to fall victim to the cartels. Back then the dangers of the cartels was being dismissed as Fox News fear porn and wasn’t actually that bad.

I get that we aren’t innocent in Mexico’s problems. But running the gun thing out right now is just deflection. If Mexico’s government didn’t want any guns coming in, I suspect they’d find a way to stop it. Kind of like Biden letting in way more people the last few years. It’s all black market business and that’s why it continues.

Also the reason 70% of identifiable guns that were used to kill (usually a criminal) in Mexico are traced to the US because we put serial numbers on them here. Most other places feeding guns to the cartels don’t. It’s not a good statistic.

It's up to 90%..

Chicago can't keep guns out of a city.

Back in the day, I refused to believe the CIA was selling crack in black neighborhoods, but nothing would surprise me now.

The firearms trafficking issue has been festering for years.  Here's a PBS report from 2019.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.pbs.org/newshour/amp/politics/the-flow-of-guns-from-the-u-s-to-mexico-is-getting-lost-in-the-border-debate

Looks like Mexico has a president that will make this a priority in any bilateral negotiations with the US, regarding immigration and drugs.  Smart move on her part.  We will see how things unfold.

Yeah lots of good communication has taken place between Biden and Mexican leadership as the people, drugs, cartel has flowed basically unfettered the past few years. 🤣 Of course Mexico is going to be pissed that we want to quit taking the people they don’t want while cracking down on the cartels that pump so much money into their country.

He’s using the threat of tariffs as a bargaining chip to get the attention of Mexican government to come to the table and figure this shit out, whereas Biden openly welcomed them to come.

Biden doesn’t care about the drugs flowing in because Liberals arent drug addicts so not his problem
