I like that Californian OO has the strictest standards and it’s domestic, so less transit and usually fresher/more piquant.

Mediterranean grown olive oil is notoriously shady in that companies could basically say whatever they wanted about what was in the bottle, but it has gotten better from what I’ve read.

I’ve just been using the Kirkland California for everyday stuff. I put a 1/4 cup in my morning smoothie and use it for cooking eggs, etc. My current “good” olive oil is some Spanish stuff that really packs a punch. Once it’s gone I will probably seek out some really pungent California oil.

Border security has been talked about since Reagan days but nothing really gets done. And that goes for both sides.

The Reagan site and his debate videos take us back to a different time. Reagan and GHW Bush both viewed illegals as fellow humans, not invading enemies. Reagan's views of the border were closer to Cato than Trump. His trade policies were closer to the CFR.
 
Reagan started NAFTA discussions, GHW Bush completed them, Clinton signed the treaty. Reagan also supported WTO.

Republicans blame Democrats for killing the stricter border enforcement aspect of the 1986 law. They are full of beans. It was strange bedfellows Grover Norquist and the ACLU.

There is an interview with Alan Simpson from a few years ago that is worth reading.
