2022 B1G Title Chase

Illinois and Wisconsin appear to have tougher schedules to round out the conference season than Purdue or Ohio State.

Also, Coleman Hawkins has not played Wordle.

We split these next 2, win at home and I like our chances.

What's a Wordle?

Imagine if they still had Johnson down low.  Early part of the season they were still adjusting to life without both him and Young.

Win 4 of our last 6 and I agree we should be right there with at least a split.  Purdue still has Wisconsin and Michigan St. on the road back to back.

Purdue could win all 4 or lose all 4 of their last games, best guess is they go 2-2.
ILLINI could win all 5 of theirs, but best guess is we go 4-1 with a loss to Ohio St.
Wisky could win all 5 of theirs as well, they should go 4-1 with a loss to Purdue.
Buckeyes will probably go 5-2 to finish....my guess is they go 4-3 however.
Rutgers is the most underrated as of now, but I think a 3-2 finish is all they can get really.
MSU 3-3 the rest of the way....Izzo is out of options this year.

Share of B1G, outright if we get some help from some bottom feeders. Either way 7-8 teams dancing in March.

Purdue has this locked barring an Illinois like collapse on the offensive side of the ball.

Sad fact is Illinois has been the one team that has been constantly overrated all year long, we benefited from a weak ass Big Ten schedule and like MSU things will even out in these last 5 games. At 18-7 and 11-4 we still have a lot play for, but mentally we are too weak and still have no real leader.  I highly doubt we can keep our heads above water in these next 5 games likely finishing 2-3 at best.  This would put us at 20-10 and 13-7 resulting in a 3rd or 4th place Big Ten finish which isn't world ending.

Kind of agree with Calvin. We seem to be a 6 seed with a 4 seed ceiling and 8 seed floor, not including a lose or win out scenario where those numbers would expand a bit more.  Even if we lose out we are still an NCAA tournament team.  But to me we sure have that 1 and done look right now. I hate to say this but we look eerily similar to your typical Weber tournament team.

A weak B1G schedule?

There are currently 6 teams under .500 in the league and we play four of them once.  Sure wish we had 12 games against the bottom of the league instead of 8.

I’d guess we had one of the toughest schedules in the league.

Compare that to, like, Ohio State who got 11 games out of that group and plays us, Iowa, MSU, Purdue, and Rutgers once each.

I already have the bias that the Big Ten just flat out sucks.  Its an overrated conference.  It was last year and it is again this year.  Even outside of that I still know it true that Illinois had one of the easiest if not the easiest front half loaded schedules of any Big Ten team at that time.  There were multiple analysts and sources talking of it.

Okay.  Ignore reality if you’d like, I suppose.  Every list I can find has us with one of the toughest schedules in the league, and as I pointed out we play fewer games against the bottom than almost anyone else.  Sure wish we played more than half our league games against the bottom instead of the top.  If you just mean you think the B1G sucks and there’s no such thing as a tough league schedule then fair enough.

You probably know better though.

I see Ohio State winning out and finishing 16-4.

Wisconsin/Purdue each at 15-5

Illinois 14-6.

We're still sorting things out.  Remember, it's all about March not February.  How many years does Sparty come back from the dead to go on a good tournament run?

This looks to be conference games only and before Rutgers.
Opponents played, and remaining opponents.
