Have to agree. Talking heads around here, all caught up in the shiny object of the moment, complaining that we missed out. Saying that, if Walton/Penner owned the Doncs in 2016, they would have ponied up enough to get us a gig. Maybe, maybe not. They're billionaires for a reason. It all depends. Boston has a huge advantage in that there is adequate mass transit from the city center to the stadium, and the city is designed well. They *printed* money this week.
I've seen very little influx in the Bay Area, but it's been a pain in the ass if you were near the stadium. Places like KC, with FIFA keeps all the in stadium concession revenue and there is nothing near the stadium for ancillary businesses to make money. Chicago might have a shot, with Soldiers Field having a better proximity and big hotel inventory.
What it really came down to though, is luck. Boston got Scotland for 2 games and also England. The Bay Area got Algeria and Jordan. Npt only do they not travel, they don't drink!
