If what she reported actually happened in that context then yeah Whitman fucked up. But it doesn’t seem very Josh Whitman-like to vote for something then publicly contradict himself in an open letter and think people weren’t gonna find out. Shannon citing unnamed sources leaves some additional room for doubt that it played out exactly as she says it did.

My guess is that there is context to the voting/options etc that we aren’t aware of that reframes this but doubt that Whitman is going to engage in a public debate with a reporter from the Trib. This was more for the fans and the players than anyone else.

IMO I don’t think Shannon has an ax to grind with Illinois but she definitely tries a little too hard to be some kind of arbiter of truth in what I’m sure she sees as the homer Illini media base.

This has always been the case with the Tribune and pretty much the Chicago media overall. She’s got me blocked, so it’s kinda nice I can’t see her bullshit opinions.

I agree. Maybe a non public ask again would have been worthwhile considering the craziness. The did reschedule all of our games kind of late. Gave us kind of a gauntlet. Then we got fkcing mugged at MSU.
I was never sure why they didn't cram a few more in for UM.
I think Nebraska went on road and MD played back to back in 2 nights.

Oh well. I really want a shot at a title. We will not see this chance again for maybe another 10/15/20 years.
