Just watched the highlights. Oddly enough, my takeaway is how much college ball retarded the speed of both Ayo and Malcolm’s growth.
Ayo was always awesome in transition and in the half court he was able to use his length, talent, and IQ to get to his spot with the ball, even if it looked clumsy and awkward much of the time. But he did it because he could and that iso became his game.
Watching him now the ball doesn’t stick, he moves great off the ball, he’s chiseled, bouncy and quick, and his shot mechanics look much better. All in a matter of months. If you look back at film and photos of him from as recently as March, he looks like a kid in comparison.
Malcolm also doesn’t even look like the same guy as college. He essentially played the 4 a big chunk of his career here and carried a lot of a extra mass to do so. Dude is cut up now and moves completely differently.
