Thought Rory was dead in the water on a few occasions. Bet he was a little nervous on that last putt.

A 7 iron from 207 for Rory

That shot was sick.

What a crazy day. Never seen such a roller coaster finish.

Didn’t mention the last putt specifically, but I thought it was forthright of him to mention how we was “really nervous” on the first tee. He should hang out with Caleb Williams, he never gets nervous.

Rory has mentioned how he wants to play more like Scottie (more cobservative, limit mistakes). He tried that on several occasions and it generally blew up in his face (13). I could not believe it when he put a layup into Rae’s Creek. Rory was at his best when he just hit golf shots and was all in on the shot (7 iron on 15 was unreal). Wedge in playoff was clutch.

I really feel like this could free Rory up in future tournaments. He had this gaping hole on his résumé and I bet he felt pressure in other tournaments to try to fill that hole to some degree (you only get one shot a year at the only major you don’t have). His legacy is cemented now. Everything he does now is sheer gravy.

And it’s kind of crazy that a guy with his résumé before yesterday “had some ‘splainin’ to do,” but that’s the ridiculous bar we hold to the greats. LeBron trying to live up to Jordan. Rory trying to live up to Tiger. Impossibly high bars.

I’d be pretty Irish, and possibly related? IDGI.
