It definitely was rigged when Fields was a captain and he whined about being coached.

"Other big-name quarterbacks, such as Joe Burrow, have been voted as captains and taken on the starting position as a rookie."

"Last season, Bryce Young and C.J. Stroud — the No. 1 and No. 2 overall picks in the 2023 draft — were both named captains of the Carolina Panthers and Houston Texans, respectively, during their rookie seasons. Anthony Richardson, the No. 4 overall pick, was also named a captain as a rookie with the Indianapolis Colts."

Was Williams voted a team captain by his teammates ?
"so to be named a captain by my peers and colleagues and my teammates and my friends and brothers, extremely grateful, extremely happy ..."

And not saying it was in this case, but I also know that “voting” for captains is sometimes rigged.

Especially when he was out watching golf instead of getting his medicals to the Bear front office!

Priorities?!
"He commented more than once that, 'You know, Hitler did some good things, too,'" Kelly recalled to The Times. Kelly said he would usually quash the conversation by saying "nothing (Hitler) did, you could argue, was good," but that Trump would occasionally bring up the topic again.

Bryce Young really deserved the title of “Captain” his rookie year.

Reasonable minds can disagree, but I find it farcical that someone is named a captain before he’s played a single NFL game. JMO

Most people find the take unreasonable.

Would a law firm be likely to name someone fresh out of college a partner?

It's a harsh world out there. Did his teammates vote for captains ?

Captains aren't named after the season.
