I lost track, but I counted a minimum of 57 plays from the shotgun (could have been well over 60). About the only time we ran back to back plays not out of shotgun one of the runs went for 8 yards. Probably our longest of the day. I think we ran the ball back to back from under center once.

Interesting side note on Matt Bowen. He was selected with the 198th pick in the 2000 NFL draft. One pick before Tom Brady.

And when I say “power run game,” I mean from under center where the back can get a head of steam. There’s nothing “power” or “powerful” about running out of shotgun. I don’t claim to be super knowledgeable of the variations of blocking schemes they employ or don’t employ. They took the wrong approach today, plain and simple.

I was a fan of the signing, but we may be seeing why Swift is already on his 3rd team. He has some nice skills, but lead back doesn’t appear to be it.
