Being anti-dead kids gets you labeled a terrorist loving Hamas supporter around here.
I'm anti-dead kids as a general rule (you are trying to create an ad hominem from thin air here) - but really I'm just anti stupidty, more specifically I don't want a stupid President.
Trump saying Hamas must return the hostages or else there will be HELL TO PAY is a logical fallacy. If he were forced to describe specifically, what literal repercussions Hamas would face if they don't return the hostages would be, he couldn't do it. First off, he has at best a rudimentary understanding of what's going on there, such that even if he tried to instigate some sort of "HELL TO PAY", he wouldn't be able to.
More so, Hamas probably wouldn't give a rats ass what Trump supposedly would do. Gaza has pretty much paid plenty of hell already. What exactly could Trump do that would be measurably worse?
If Trump thinks he can get Hamas to cower via what are essentially empty threats, he's wrong. The question then becomes, does he think that? Or does he know he can't but he also knows that his BASE *thinks* that they will. He doesn't care what Hamas does, or what they think of him. Hamas is completely abstract to Trump. His adoring fans are all that matters, and they think he is being tough so they shower him with love and money.
In theory, this should be a house of cards that collapses, but the genius - or accidental result - of Trump is that it doesn't matter if Hamas does or doesn't do anything. Gaza is so abstract to his base - they don't care about what is going on their either way. They are anti-arab and anti-semitic anyway. So they won't notice the actual result whether or not some Democrat is on CNN jumping up and down about how Trump is fucking up the Israel situation, because by then Trump will have pulled out a new shiny orb to show his masses.
