Man that environment sucks. Empty soulless cavern with shitty lighting and no enthusiasm. Watching the post game interviews now and the press conference area isn’t any better. They’ve got a goddamn wrinkled OSU halfass hung up as a backdrop. Do they just not give a fuck about basketball in Columbus?

This is becoming a lost season for them it appears. We did what we needed to do against a team that is not playing well at all. They can't stop anyone. They lack energy.
Still is not necessarily easy at all on the road.
Good to take care of business.

Hawkins is really a head case. He has played well overall in second half of year and starting to really produce more consistently. He needs to keep it together. We cannot afford a Hawkins melt down in NCAA's.

We now have the 5th rated offense in country on KenPom and Torvik.
I recall everyone wondering where we were going to get consistent scoring from besides TSj earlier in year.
Our defense is not where it needs to be, but we have several guys contributing on offense right now.

Win one of the MSU or MD road games we could be in great shape heading into last three tough games.

Let's just say that the Ty Rodgers point guard experiment is quite the success 🙌

Really happy for him

Not a big fan but credit to him he has worked hard and been functional against a lot of teams. He does some things well but is really out of position.
Has plusses and minuses. The rebounding is a big plus and he does not turn it over much. He knows his limits.
I think the combination of Harmon and Rodgers in second half of year has been solid.
I still think having no real play-making guard and we are going to have end of game challenges in close one possession games in BT and NCAAs.
Really they will be giving the ball to TSj and Domask then and hoping they make a play and we crash the boards.
Hard to argue with 5th rated offense. Getting a lot of things right.

Have to admit, thought he was going to be Damonte Williams part II. Happy to be wrong on that one.

I'll toss in my mea culpa also. He's not a pg, and I swear I heard Bardo say he's really a 2 or a 3, but in the right situations he's done well. Congrats on the double double.

Ty Rodgers will be so important to us moving forward.

He is the kind of kid that works his ass off, and the kind that I think will ultimately be holding others accountable for us moving forward. I think he finds a much louder voice if you will next year and after. The athletic ability and drive will enable him to make others pay attention and follow suit.

Rodgers is my new favorite player, CoHawk being a headcase (although he had valid cases in both Key flops), will be his undoing if not already so.

Like that he goes right at their bigs when he draws that match up. I have to assume that is coaching.

Not sure that many would say that TSJ and Domask aren’t “play making guards”

Rodgers is a small ball 4 unless he is masquerading as a tall, pass first second and third unless he’s within 5 feet of the basket PG

Underwood has done a pretty good job this year.

Bardo also said that he could be in NBA last night which he has said for two years.

Rodgers is a tough kid and plays hard. He is a 3/4 in college and in perfect world that is where he will be next two years.
He is a mixed bag on offense depending on match ups, has no jump shot, and cannot handle quicker guards. Gayle went for 20 last night. We couldn't put him on a Young or Buie.

That said he is solid physical defender against most 3 or 4 types, excellent rebounder, passable in getting the ball up the court, good help defender and creates a lot of issues keeping him off the glass.
UW loves him.

Underwood has done a pretty good job this year.

At end of games the teams that make plays with high level playmakers use a high ball screen and force the defense to make decisions and concessions and can usually manufacture points.
Everybody in gym knows what is going to happen but it is so hard to stop.

TSj has shown a little of that at times, but plays off the ball usually and just makes plays for himself if we can get him going downhill, or he takes the three if they layoff.
Domask needs a lot of time to back his guy down to develop a play to shoot or dish and teams are digging and helping more on that.
Both are really effective and often elite without question, but cannot control an endgame like a traditional lead guard.
The NU game was good example of that where we got a bad shot and no foul call out of it by Domask at end of regulation.

I am nitpicking but in the tourney it is guard play execution that wins. There is so little difference between teams ranked 4 through 28 this year.
I think only Purdue, Houston, and UConn are sort of separating themselves.

That said- it is great we are looking at a team that looks like they can make the second weekend and have a shot at a deeper run.
