Title: Those in Chicagoland
Post by: Reacher on March 31, 2023, 06:15:19 PM
Stay safe out there. It’s ugly. Been hit with hail and a super close lighting blast in the last 45 minutes.

Something like 60 mph winds tonight.  Tornado watch pretty much all day.

Be careful out there. You never know who’s trying to kill you.

Damn, now I’m getting a warning for “destructive 90 mph wind. Seek shelter away from windows.”

It won't be the last.  Anytime you transition from a significant LA Nina event to an El Nino event.  Two things happen.  California will flood and the Midwest gets lots of tornadoes.

Yesterday was bad 65 twisters updated: 119 total and half a dozen were EF3 or stronger.  Its going to be a rough spring for illinois and surrounding states.

I dug out my generator, started it, let it run for a bit, dug out power cords, etc and got ready for disaster.

Never lost power.

We did get a lot of rain and some hail tho. A neighboring town had golfball size hail and busted windshields.

Windy as fuck today. Might make a pot of chili.

Lost power briefly, wind fucked some shit up on the patio out back. Saw some minor wind damage when I was out and about earlier, but not nearly as bad as the storm we had a month or so ago. Pretty lucky.

What part of the state do you live? Saw there have been problems in the Peoria area to Chicago. Hate tornadoes with a passion. Hope you all are ok.

You’re thinking about Pekin. Or Lincoln.

I’m sure there’s some here too. But not near as much as other places.

Yeah, the one family reunion down there was quite the culture shock to my boys.... At least no one was playing the Deliverance theme on a banjo.

Decades ago I was taking an advanced industry related course. The Instructor was from Iroquois or maybe rural northeast Vermillion County. Basic cornholer, er cornjerker turf.  Don't recall which one.

One time he was more full of piss and vinegar than usual. He rhetorically asked the class why anyone would want to live where their kind was not wanted.

From what I recall, like Mt Pulaski but smaller, and methier. Unless things have changed. I haven’t been around there in years, and try to keep it that way.

I am genuinely surprised that you admitted it. Usually your SOP is to form a strong opinion about something you know nothing about, and then go find Twitter posts and articles to support your opinion when challenged.

Yes. Another ex-teammate joining him there next year. Don't think they will billet with the same family.
