I say A
If you told me before the season 8-4 with a chance of a New Year's weekend bowl I would be ecstatic but knowing we had the division in our hands and blew it hurts the grade
Our 4 losses were by a combined 20 points. Man
-
Given where this team has been, I'll give 8-4 an A.
-
I'll go with A+.
Far exceeded my expections. A top defense and the yardage leader in rushing.
We've still got a chance at a Jan 2 bowl in Tampa.
-
A.
8-4 and played the 2nd best team in college football down to the wire on the road. Bielema maximized this group’s potential. The competitiveness in the Michigan game took a B+ into an A for me

I agree, Dom. Let’s just hope he can continue to replicate this success each year and occasionally do better.

Grading on an Illini We Have Been Kicked in the Balls in Football Forever Curve:
Honors course A+, but should be an AP course A if did not suck against IN, MSU, and Purdue.
Non-Illini Football Curve grade:
B. Lost 2 games to 2 of the worst teams in the B1G East and 1 of them only won 1 road game all year. Had MI on the ropes and blew it. Lost B1G title by losing to Purdue at home.
-
If you look at this season in a vacuum, then I don't see how we are better than a B. Lost very winnable games.
-
Being fair and judging from preseason expectations A bordering on A+. Grading the last month. D.

Is that the OG Jake from State Farm in the avatar? Now that is a memorable advertising campaign since the guy's name includes the brand itself.

He’s probably feeling a lot like Pete Best right now.

Well, at least Pete Best quit on his own terms. This Jake fella got shafted.

Pete was kicked out of the band for Ringo.

I thought he had quit for some reason. Too bad for him.

I'd say B+. The MSU and Purdon't games dropped them from an A.
Still very pleased to be playing a January bowl game in the second year of the BB era. All good. Could have been better.....but we are Illinois.

True

B+.
I can't give an A to team that dropped 3 of its last 4 after starting 7-1. Choking away back to back to back games to MSU, Purdue, and Scum for the West title took the air out of the season for me. Have to learn how to finish close games. This should have a been a 10-2 team.

4 AP All-Americans, with Witherspoon 1st string.
Witherspoon didn't play football until his Jr year in HS. Signed with Illinois in August 2019 and in fall camp a week or so later.
Congrats Spoon. 👍
Chase Brown (2nd team), defensive tackle Jer'Zhan Newton (2nd team) and offensive tackle Alex Palczewski (3rd team).
Congrats 👍

Awesome, he had a hell of a year. Can’t wait to watch him on Sundays next fall.
-
A-, only because we had this lined up for a 10-2 season and blew Indiana and the two home losses. Really hard to go lower than that when we're going to a decent bowl and should have multiple guys drafted again.
-
Over the course of a season, who knows what the impact of calls is on the scheme of things.
But there were game changing calls in the Indiana, PU and Michigan games.
-
We probably weren’t as good as the team that spanked Wisconsin in Camp Randall, dominated the Gofs, and manhandled Nebraska in Lincoln, and probably weren’t as bad as the team that lost to Indiana and later laid consecutive eggs at home against Sparty and Purdue.
