Spread is 6.5 but they expect the score to be 21-19.

As you undoubtedly know, the spread is about getting 50% of the betting action on both sides. It really has nothing to do with winning/losing on the field.
Predicted score shows how evenly matched the computer thinks the 2 teams are. Oh, and how inept both teams are on offense in this era of high-powered offenses. If the line was Illinois -2, there would likely be a much higher percentage of the total amount wagered on Northwestern given the recent history of this series.

Yeah, but I have a hard time with anyone thinking the Illini can win by that much unless the score is 7-0.

Not disagreeing with you. If I was betting on this one, I'd bet the under.
This one might be painful to watch.

Hopefully our OC gets Williams the ball, before he transfers and finds a team that will.
-
After yesterday's results, if illinois wins today we are bowling at 5-7 with the academic rating we have.

Not so fast ......
See the other college fb tussles thread.
I'm seeing our APR at 58. There are plenty of teams that can get to 6-6 today, or will have a better APR with a 5-7 record.
I L L ......

You are correct , 10 teams left 6 spots to fill.

4 of those teams are 5-6 C-USA, and they play each other. 2 will get 6 wins.
Md and Rutgers are 5-6. Winner goes to 6-6. We have a better APR than Md. We don't want Md to go to 6-6.

But if UTSA and middle Tenn both win it helps us out and will not hurt us.

None of the projections appear to take APR into account. The powers that be talked about not using APR due to the Covid, but I haven't seen that not using APR was agreed to.
The single #'s next to a team should be APR. Low score wins.
My work isn't as neat. Lol.

Rutgers down to Md 20-2 at the half.
-
Good start but lots of game left.
This post brought to you the Sports cliche emporium .com

Northwestern is really, really bad.
-
Northwestern is garbage.
Isaiah Williams is special. Just makes people miss and makes it look so easy.
Ryan Walters deserves MVP this year for the job he’s done with the defense.
-
Woodshedding NU is bittersweet since any of the 4 games we should have won flipping means this would put us indisputably into a bowl. The difference between 5-7 and 8-4 is so damn close.
-
Illinois is a respectable football team. And yes those losses sting all over again. Bowl would have been huge this year to get some momentum because I think we will take a take a big step backwards next year unless we clean house in the transfer market. Have lots of starting spots to sell.
-
Let’s just hope we sneak in a bowl. Would be huge for the extra practices and building the program.
-
nice to see we came out with fire
-
Get fucked Fitz!
-
Nice to see the NUrds get spanked. Fuck Fitz

Basically put out an ad for B1G-level OL starters and pay Michigan/OSU money to get them.
-
Hit the transfer portal hard for a QB!
-
Refs probably felt bad for the Cats and said "fuck it, just give it to 'em" on the last TD.
-
Great to see Jake Hansen and Mike Epstein out there for the victory formation.
-
Fitz to the Bears you heard it here first.
-

Or two.

The Rutgers loss reallly stings right now

Bielema's coaching staff is the best one Illinois football has had since Mackovic. These guys understand Big 10 football, and I feel like our floor with Bielema is simply a year like the current one. 5-7 but competitive in most games.
Give these guys a couple years to develop their own offensive lineman and there's no reason why we can't be as good as Minnesota/Iowa.

Perfectly reasonable.
