Draft on the 7th.

What draft slot do you have? How many teams? Who are you targeting?

12 teams, the commish hasn't sent out the draft order, yet.  It's a work group, and we quit playing for money, just for shit-talkin' now.  So, I don't spend a great deal of time mapping out players.

Targeting?  IDK.  I had Davante last year and he was a beast.  Other than that, the usual suspects - running backs that catch a lot of passes.  Pretty much any KC offensive player.

Finished third last year, but had the most points I believe.  Just caught a bad break in the playoffs.

My league is .5 ppr. I rarely go WR first round, but i went with Davante and grabbed Saquon with the 12th pick. I usually load up on RBs and try to trade one for a WR.

Think I might have chased “upside” a little too hard in my draft. Vast majority of my players are 2nd year players (along with a couple/three rookies). Lol

Just looked at my draft order, I'm 8th.  Which kinda sucks for getting any of the elite scorers.

I prefer drafting in the late first round, then it’s a quick turnaround to your 2nd pick. I drafted 9th and 12th, which is my favorite spot.

With that pick you can probably get Adams or Kelce and probably come back with Barkley or Jonathon Taylor. I think that’s a great start.

PPR or standard?

PPR.  And, I think you're right.  What you think about Dalvin Cook for a first pick?

Clear 2nd pick, I still go with CMC if I’m picking first.
Title: Re: Fantasy Football Thread
Post by: Reacher on September 05, 2021, 10:04:34 AM
Full PPR? Regardless, it’s CMC. But if it’s full PPR I go with Adams or Kelce 1st round. Then I load up on pass catching backs. I like Gibson a lot (after Barkley and Taylor), and Swift could be a league winner you can get in 4th or 5th round.

Goff only has Hockenson and Swift to throw to. Their #1 WR is Kalif Raymond lol
Title: Re: Fantasy Football Thread
Post by: Reacher on September 05, 2021, 10:09:51 AM
I wanted Swift so badly I actually traded Joe Mixon and Logan Thomas for Swift and Gerald Everette. On paper, I got bent over on the deal, but I think there’s a good chance it works out for me.

Because of the way the draft fell, I was kind of forced to take Mixon and Thomas. I like Thomas, but I already have McLaurin. Don’t want two pieces of that passing offense. Limits my upside. Mixon was also by far the best value on the board when I picked 3rd round. My hands were tied, even though I didn’t  want him. Thomas was also the last “good” TE on the board as well.

Whatever you’re looking at is whacked. Google “fantasy pros seasonal rankings 2021,” then fill in half or full ppr (whichever you use); and go by their rankings.

12 teams, and yes, PPR.

Davante, the Pittsburgh, Jacksonville, and Bears starting RB's.  Rodgers at QB, Mark Andrews at TE.  And the other receivers are pretty weak, JuJu and Antonio Brown.

That’s not bad, especially for a 12 team league. See if Terrace Marshall, Elijah Moore, or Rondale Moore are available and pick one of them up.

Rondale Moore is available.  Not sure who I'd drop, though.  Have Sterling Shepherd, Mike Williams, Jamaal Williams, and Antonio Brown on the bench.

Yes, I picked up the Miami TE in the second to last round, I think.  He had a good year last year.

He’s been more promise than production so far. With Waddle in the fold, I don’t like his upside as much anymore.

I did drop Sterling, and now regret it.  Mike Williams I've had on the bench.  Oof.

Not one of my better takes to this point. Shepard is decent, but has a problem staying on the field and not huge upside.

Williams could be on the verge of that very late breakout a la Davante Parker. Williams is talented, but we’ve been waiting on his breakout for a while. Looks like 2nd year Justin Herbert and the new staff could be the right formula for him.

And Slayton is good. If he played for GB or KC he’d be a star.

The Rondale Moore take has aged well, though.

I followed your advice, dropped Sterling and picked up Moore.  It's awfully early on him, though he may become a bigger contributor.  Haven't started him, yet.

I picked up Goff last week.  Of course he's on the bench.

I might try to pick up Gallup.  We can stash one on IR.  What do you think of Cordarrelle Patterson?  He's out there.
Title: Re: Fantasy Football Thread
Post by: Reacher on September 20, 2021, 09:20:19 PM
I’d only have interest in Patterson if it’s a very deep league. You’re better off chasing usage and big play potential than touchdowns.
Title: Re: Fantasy Football Thread
Post by: Reacher on September 20, 2021, 09:24:26 PM
You need WR or RB help? Or both? This is gonna sound crazy, but Tony Pollard is flirting with stand alone value. And I just dropped Michael Pittman. One week too early, perhaps. Pittman is worth an add if he’s there. He’ll be up and down though because of QB play.

I can’t believe I’m saying this; but if you have room for a stash on your bench, maybe Cordarrelle Patterson would be worth grabbing. At least to see what his usage is for next week. I wouldn’t cut anyone decent for him though.

Somebody already grabbed Cordarrelle.  But, I did get my first win this weekend.  And guess who was the anchor of that win.....Mike Williams in my flex.  Of course Davante's big day didn't hurt.

I've gotten every opponents best shot and finally outscored somebody.  Last week my opponent had Kupp, McLaurin, and Wilson at QB.  First week my opponent had Mahomes, Hopkins, and that bum from NYJ had a big day.

There are a large number of WRs I’d probably prefer over them. Brandon Aiyuk is probably available in some leagues. Valdes-Scantling, waddle, Nelson Agholor, Curtis Samuel is coming back. Calloway, Pascal, Zaccheus. I’d probably pick up all of those (if available before those guys). I like Watkins, but Lamar only looks at Marquise Brown and Mark Andrews most of the time.

I’ve been burned on Gesicki so I personally need to see back to back weeks on him. Conklin is a solid add, and Dan Arnold will probably be a part of the Jags offense after getting traded. Knox is TE8 and available in many leagues. And Evan Engram should be heavily involved with Shepard and Slayton down with hamstrings. Engram is probably out there. Talented but underachieving player. Should get loads of opportunity the next couple/three weeks.

All those others are spoken for, except Callaway (half as many targets) and MVS (fantasy poison).

My son picked up the GB defense because they were playing the steelers.  Turned out to be a good move.

For me it was between GB and Cinci. I chose incorrectly with Cinci. And I knew better, the Bengals always screw me. Once made the final 6 out of 120 in a survivor pool for 2k. Picked the Bengals as 8.5 point home favorites in the playoffs. They lost. 4 people eliminated that day. They’ve screwed me other ways too.

Luckily, I’m going to win comfortably anyway unless Austin Ekeler has the greatest game in the history of MNF.

No production last two weeks.  Have never started him.  I don't think anybody will rush out to grab him.

Plus, there are so many weapons on that team.  Who do you trust?

No, I have Robinson and Harris.  But, I'm going to have 3 players on bye in week 7, both starting RB's, so I'll need an RB for then.  I'm pretty much going to chalk up an "L" for that week.

Hines is not out there, or McKissic.

Any thoughts on picking up Herbert?

At first I thought you meant Justin. Lol

I actually picked up Herbert for a day or two as a flier. I cut him to add Mattison (I am playing against Dalvin Cook who is a game time decision). So I did it to cock block my opponent if Cook sits, which id think is very possible against the lowly Lions.

Yes, I would take a flier on Herbert.

Grabbed Davontea Booker today.

I grabbed Darrel Williams. And I have Saquon. His (Booker’s) line is banged up, he’s going to be playing alongside Mile Glennon (who also has almost no one to throw to), and he has a dreadful matchup this week. Saquon could be back in two weeks.

I chose Williams because he’s likely to be the lead back a little longer, and he’s in the Chiefs offense. If Williams is good, he could supplant CEH as the starter. CEH has not been very good.  Booker will have touches, but hard to see him doing a lot with them. At least until Daniel Jones and a couple recovers and/or lineman are back.

Somebody had grabbed Darrel already.  I don't think he'll get that many touches anyway - could be wrong.  Marlon Mack to KC (a possibility) I thought I read also.

I was between Herbert and Booker.  I just need a decent back for week 7, when both of my starters are on bye.  Perine is also out there, but looks like Mixon is going to be ok.

We’ll see. Booker may be back on the bench week 7, and they face Carolina the team that’s given up the least points to RBs. If he plays, he’ll get the volume though, and that could get you there.

Lost my first game last week. No Saquon didn’t help. I lost to the guy who has been in first most of the season (by points). He also has injury issues and made a bad choice in starting Jerrick McKinnon. I picked up Darrel Williams earlier in the week. It didn’t occur to me until too late the leverage I’d have on him by starting Williams (the better/dominant back in the same backfield) until it was too late to change it.

I played Devonta Smith thinking he’d be peppered with targets against Tampa (also have Hurts, so was hoping to pile up some correlation). Smith laid an egg on Thursday night.

I'm in trouble this week.  5 starters on bye.  If Antonio Brown can't go, then I'm going to have to drop Wilson Jr out of my IR spot, move Montgomery there, and then find some scrub WR/TE/RB for my flex spot.

Of note, somebody dropped Pollard this week, so I've got a waiver wire request in to pick him up and drop Williams from Detroit.
Title: Re: Fantasy Football Thread
Post by: Chickengeorge on October 22, 2021, 11:32:38 AM
Well shit.  Antonio Brown is ruled out.  So, I need a flex player.  In order to make room on my roster, I think I have to drop Jeff Wilson Jr, then slide Montgomery into my IR spot, and pick somebody up.

Slim pickin's out there.  Thinking about St. Brown from Detroit.  Averaging over 7 targets last 3 weeks.

I hate dropping Wilson, but as long as Montgomery comes back, and no other serious injuries, I'm in good shape RB-wise.

I’ll never figure out what the Philadelphia Eagles are trying to do with their lives. Kenny Gainwell was the clear 1b to Sanders all year. He’s been a ghost today, while Boston Scott (who couldn’t get on the field until Sander’s injury) and practice squad promotee Jordan Howard are getting all the work and have 2 TDs each. Unless it’s a disciplinary action this makes zero sense.

Taysom Hill available? He sucks, but he’s going to score points by running the ball and vulturing touchdowns from Alvin Kamara.

Huge win over the last place team. 7-2 now.

I was dreading having to start Trevor Lawrence against the Bills with Tom Brady on bye this week. Thankfully Carson Wentz was somehow still available. Picked him up and plugged him in without hesitation.

I’m favored but sweating out a game against a bottom feeder. No Saquon, McLaurin and Swift on bye. Adams playing with one hand tied behind his back. I picked up McNichols thinking he’d get the bulk of the work, but not working out.

My team’s actually been solid, too, just laid an egg.

Stafford/Kupp/Henderson stack, Davante, Jamarr Chase, mike evans, Pitts.  Have tried to swing a wr for a rb all year but no takers.  But yeah rough to lose to a team without a QB this week.  Come to think of it they also didn’t play a defense because they had Pittsburgh and I was losing by 1 going into Monday night.

I benched Hurts for the first time this year, and played Tannehill. Kind of regretting that. I guess I can trust Devonta Smith now, but I’ll have to sit McLaurin to play him. I should be fine this week unless something stupid happens.

Patrick Mahomes has his best game of the year, and I go from heavy favorite to slight underdog. Need Henderson and Matt Gay to outperform Aiyuk by 16 on Monday night.

Singletary got a late garbage time TD in a blowout which put my opponent back in the game.

I’m also playing the team Thst got adjusted .10 and I backed into a win a couple weeks ago. So might be karmic justice if I lost as a very heavy favorite this week. Lol

Yeah, I'd be remorseful over that decision, too.  But who knew?

Saquon supposedly back next week.  I dropped Booker to make room for Devonta Freeman, who was underwhelming, but did get some points.

Need to find a decent QB for week 13.  Prolly hold onto Ryan and hope he has a decent day.

Good move there.  I'm #3 on the waiver order.  Took a shot to see if I can snag Mattison.  Of the two ahead of me, #1 is in dead last and doesn't seem interested at all, and #2 I don't know about.  I have a decent chance.

QB options:  Matty Ice vs Tampa, Daniel Jones vs Miami, Bridgewater vs KC, Lawrence vs the Rams, Goff, Tyrod Taylor vs Indy, and some others.

Brutal end to the season. After starting out 7-1 I end the season with 4 straight losses and a 1st round exit. I was heavily favored in every loss. Made the mistake of going with Taysom Hill over Jalen Hurts (because of the uncertainty on if Hurts would even play), and had to guess if Henderson or Michel would be the lead back. I have them both, I chose Henderson and chose incorrectly. Sure wish I’d have had Swift available this week.

Not a good week for me either. I did well inserting Bourne and Scantling for Claypool and Smith at WR. Pittman getting ejected, who was headed a dud for anyway, didn’t do me any favors.

I had a shot when the Lions of all teams were able to shut down Murray and keep the door open for me. Unfortunately for me, Brady’s goose egg slammed the door shut on my chances at repeating.

Barring Najee Harris losing 12 points, I have the championship wrapped up.  Starting Antonio Brown over any of Gallup, Mike Williams, or KJ Osborn was a misstep, but I did throw Rashaad Penny in my flex and he pretty much carried me.  Picked him up a couple weeks ago after he had a breakout game.  My opponent had Burrow, so I thought I was in trouble until Sunday night when Adams had a nice night and my opponent's Jefferson was held in check.

Well done, congrats!
