Unless I missed it, don’t see a thread dedicated this this years’ Bears. How is that possible? So when does Fields become the starter? My prediction is by game 4 or 5.
-
So when does Fields become the starter? My prediction is by game 4 or 5.
Thats a pretty solid prediction
I'll say 3 games because the Bears are a fucking dumpster fire with fickle fans
-
Apparently Andy Dalton has been lights out in camp. Lol
-
Then 3 it is!
-
Then 3 it is!
Haha, right.
-
Whatever they end up doing will be bad I can pretty much guarantee that. The best thing that can happen is for Fields to sit for a year or two and get ready for the NFL. But the fans will scream bloody murder and the shitty front office will throw him to the wolves immediately after Dalton shits the bed and Fields will never be right again.

You’ve led a hard life as a Bears fan. Good thing mental illness is being de-stigmatized. It’s ok to talk about your feelings now.

Just when I thought there was finally a thread actually about sports without any of the politics of personal destruction.
-
Speaking of Mr. Clinton, I just packed a fat bowl of wacky tobacky.
Now, as you may recall, I don't personally subscribe to the reefer madness. But I think that makes the bowl packing even more impressive.
-
Better question, when are the Bears moving to Arlington Heights?
-

Just saying being a Bears fan is hard, and it’s obviously taken a toll on him. Is there a tougher sports existence than being a Bears/Illini fan?
-
Better question, when are the Bears moving to Arlington Heights?
6-7 years ago I’d have been vehemently against this; but I have to say, it makes all the sense in the world.
-
Looks like the Bears get a bye week 10. If they still have a shot at the playoffs, Dalton continues. If not, Fields starts week 11.
-

Yeah, and Detroit. But with the Bears at least there’s a reasonable expectation they should be good…
-
You have to admit though, the Bears/Illini fan tandem is ripe full of nut punches.

So betting against them doesn’t really deserve a pat on the back when you’re right…

Yet it will get you ripped to shreds as a fool on these forums. Doesn’t add up, does it?
-
That's not why you get ripped to shreds. And, you don't really get ripped to shreds anyway.
Tempo is a victim again. My god.
Suck a cock?
-
Victim.
Have I not taken a lot of grief here? Where am I wrong, Mr. Easily Triggered?
-
It's a fucking message board, pussy.
God damn, for an ex marine, you sure whine like a little bitch. Lol
You sure are easily triggered.
I bet I could take a month off from this place and you’d make at least 6-10 references to me. And you talk a lot about cock sucking. Are you subliminally trying to tell me you want to suck my cock?
-
Yeah, and Detroit. But with the Bears at least there’s a reasonable expectation they should be good…
The McCaskeys appreciate your support.
-
Justin Fields mania is at a fever pitch and no one here wants to talk about the Bears? Weird.
So, did Tevin Jenkins fall to the 2nd round because he was injured? Is this Kevin White all over again?

No, but yes, from the sounds of it.

I’ll post the same thought here because I doubt anyone really visits the Spark v Tempo board anymore, but does anyone else think it curious that the local media barely talks about Khalil Mack anymore? And it’s not just because Justin Fields is here.
-

I'll reprint what I said in that thread:
Because they don't want to admit they were wrong on heaping praise on the trade or admit you were AOTC.
-
Probably true, but I’m referring to the media. Khalil Mack hype has dried up pretty hard. The local media prefers to talk about Fields (understandable), Tevin Jenkins (also understandable), Robert Quinn’s bounce back ability, and the nickel back spot. Not ideal.
-
While the Bears paid a steep price for Mack, and it looks like it hasn't worked out, I'm not ready to write him off just yet.
I’ve never actually “written him off.” On paper, the deal was perfectly fine. It was the timing of the deal I had issue with. They clearly weren’t a Khalil Mack away from winning the SB. If Khalil Mack leads them to a SB win this year, I will have been wrong, but it’s not very likely. And wasn’t in 2018, either.
-
I’m confident Khalil Mack can still be a difference maker. Can he recapture his 2018 form? 3 years older and a couple of ho hum years (by his standards) removed from 2018, I’m skeptical.
-
Agree. I hope he can.
What's this kumbaya shit?
-
Tomorrow we will see Justin Fields play football in a Bears uniform.
-
On draft day, I gave Ryan Pace credit for doing some good things, which I almost never do. And turns out they drafted a LT they knew was injured, apparently didn’t have a backup plan at the position. How very Ryan Pacey.
Seems like good planning with your hopes riding on the success of your new future franchise QB.
-
The Bears love drafting injured players. I want to say Jerry Angelo did it too with Chris Williams.
Yep. And Pace did it with Kevin White, too. What a great pick that was.
-
But the 2 picks they gave up for Mack would have been all-pro rookie year.
-
But the 2 picks they gave up for Mack would have been all-pro rookie year.
Not really sure where that came from, but they could have drafted Montez Sweat whose probably worth both those picks.
-
It’s Justin Fields time!!!
-
Andy Dalton did his best Andy Dalton impersonation.
-
Why is Wims still a Bear?
-
I realize it’s only a preseason game, but looks like Nagy really has this offense moving in the right direction…
-
I’m not saying retire the number (the Bears already have too many), but it feels wrong that they’d give 23 to a kick returner…
-
Good pass from Fields on that 3rd down out, even better coverage.
-
Tempo, watching this shit do you understand why no one here was talking about the Bear? The fucking Cub offense post-trades is better than this shit.
-

I’m here for the Justin Fields conversation. That’s it. Apparently, I’m alone there. Justin Fields mania has hit every section of the Bears’ fan base outside of this forum, I guess.
Have the Bears had a first down yet?
-
Justin Fields doing his best Andy Dalton impersonation.
-
I don’t put much stock into preseason games, but fitting the Dalton/Fields era is ushered in with 5 straight 3 and outs and 0 first downs in the 1st half.
-
Just imagine how bad things would be if we didn’t have an offensive genius at HC.

The time of possession appears to be very slanted toward the Dolphin. Matt Nagy still sucks. I deserve an AOTC award on that take

When did you come to this determination? I pointed out the red flags as early as the Green Bay come from ahead loss fiasco.

I believe I started a thread on the HQ OG during the preseason of his 1st year.
I'm the Larue of Matt Nagy takes.

First downs!

Damn that’s funny. Why is that reporter wearing a maroon and gold hat?
-
Damn that’s funny. Why is that reporter wearing a maroon and gold hat?
Because the Washington Football Team won that day and the oaths and curses descended onto the field when Lew Barnes fumbled a punt.
-
It is an exhibition game. Throw the fucking ball into the end zone.
-
First downs!
Points! 53 yard FGs!
-
What a waste of time watching this has been. If I was not hung over, I'd have done something more productive.
-
Not really sure where that came from, but they could have drafted Montez Sweat whose probably worth both those picks.
I had to do it. Your 2 previous posts were about the Bears drafting injuries.
-
What a waste of time watching this has been. If I was not hung over, I'd have done something more productive.
It’s an absolutely perfect day outside. Of course…
I missed the first 3-4 minutes. Who gets the ball to start 2nd half?
-
What a waste of time watching this has been. If I was not hung over, I'd have done something more productive.
I’m jealous that you’re hungover by the way. Can’t remember the last time I got lit up.
-
Probably in Spain 3 years ago.
-
Fields heating up. Nice catch by Adams.
-
Aight, aight…
-
I think I like Khalil Herbert.
-
Good drive. Fields looked like a pro there.
-
I’m trying to think of a good Trubisky joke but disappointingly can’t come up with one.

We are the Bears Shuffling Crew!

I guess this game thread will be just me, with you occasionally chiming in. My efforts to get this candle lit have fallen flat.

So WTF is up with Tevin Jenkins? Any updates. They need a legitimate LT.

It is an exhibition game and allegedly nice outside.
-
If Fields plays the rest of the preseason similar to how he did that last drive, start him game 1.

But Justin Fields mania is the biggest thing since Beatles mania…

But Justin Fields mania is the biggest thing since Beatles mania…
The COVID is holding everyone back from going completely wild.
-
What is this hitting receivers in stride thing? I don’t think I like it…
-
Huge balls on Nagy going for it on 4th down in the preseason. BE YOU.
-
If the Bears score on this drive just put Fields on ice for the day. He’s had a good game.
And just before I hit post, long TD. Pull em.
-
I was once mocked for words like “poise” and “pocket presence.” Fields has it. The other guy, well, not so much.
-
You are getting well AOTC given this is an exhibition game.
-
Did Mack even play today?
-
Preseason is a yawn fest.
-
Did Mack even play today?
I think I saw him in for a few plays.
-
Preseason is a yawn fest.
I never bother watching it, its awful
-
Didnt watch a second either. I think the Vikings were on too.
Beautiful day in northern Minnesota. Friends from Chicago were up. Had some Hop Butcher for the World and spent the day cooking a brisket.

Me either, unless Justin Fields is playing.
-
Sounds like the Bears are about to sign Jason Peters. Hope he has something left in the tank. 39 years old.
Guess this means Jenkins is out for a while. Sigh.
39 is awful old but at least they’re trying to do something about it.
-
Me either, unless Justin Fields is playing.
saw some highlights of his, looks like he struggled in the first half but settled down in the 2nd
-
Yesterday is the first time I’ve watched a preseason game in years probably.
-
saw some highlights of his, looks like he struggled in the first half but settled down in the 2nd
Yeah, first couple of series were quite meh. Looked quite good rest of game.
-
So, Danny Parkins is all over twitter saying Justin Fields should get reps with the 1s in training camp and start the first game. Are you on board with that?
Personally, I think Parkins is an asshat. And I'm guessing he has a betting interest, because he's a degenerate gambler. But whatever.
Or no one cares about Andy Dalton and Fields may help drive traffic to his boring radio show?
-
Or he caught wind of the Tempo AOTC award and is trying super hard to win.
Good point. Has a long way to go. Everyone here is fucking Nostradamus. Or has a feeling they may be Nostradamus.
-

I don’t disagree with it, but I’m not beating the drum for it. I think he’s the starter no longer than the 5th game in.
-
I have never fucked Nostradamus.
Have you fucked yourself yet?
If not here's a reminder: go fuck yourself.
-
Damn. Ok.
Doesn't pay to go face after being a heel for so long!
-
Tevin Jenkins undergoing back surgery…Ryan Pace still sucks at his job!
-
Tevin Jenkins undergoing back surgery…Ryan Pace still sucks at his job!
And Fields with a groin. It's already starting.
-
Only preseason, but pretty hilarious to see Trubisky outplay Dalton by a country mile at Soldier Field. Dalton saves some face by connecting with Adams on a 73 yard TD play down 28-0. Otherwise, Dalton looked a lot like Jonathon Quinn.
-
Dalton throws over the middle and throws it into a crowd of 4 Bills and gets picked. Nagy should have sat him after the TD. Could only go downhill from there.
-
The Bears are such a joke. A friend of mine is at the game today and is texting me about how embarrassing it is. I replied “Aren’t you used to it by now?”
-
Other than the game TB had four rookies starting in their defensive backfield, that’s probably the best half of football I’ve ever seen Trubisky play.
-
The Bears are such a joke. A friend of mine is at the game today and is texting me about how embarrassing it is. I replied “Aren’t you used to it by now?”
I don’t put much stock into preseason, but I don’t think this is flukey.
-
Regardless of 1st team, 2nd team, the offense is so clearly more potent with Fields in the game.
-
It’s amazing what a guy like Mitch can do with an O Line.
-
It’s amazing what a guy like Mitch can do with an O Line.
In the preseason. Let's see how he does if he has to step in for his new team at some point in the regular season.
-
Yes of course it’s a small sample size and it’s preseason but the big picture is the Bears have plugged in QB after QB for decades with mediocre results at best.
They got rid of Mitch after a few up and mostly down seasons behind a trash O Line and bring in two other QBs and put them behind a still-trash O Line. Then Mitch thoroughly outplays both of the new guys on their home field. It’s just so…Bears.
And yeah yeah yeah it’s preseason but not sure how anyone can feel anything remotely positive after that pantsing. These are still professional athletes trying to earn playing time and future paydays led by a coach and GM on very hot seats. Very disappointing showing.
-
It’s amazing what a guy like Mitch can do with an O Line.
😂😂😂 he had more problems than the O-line
-

I’m not saying the 2021 Bears are any good, I don’t think they’re better than average; but the ‘85 Bears went 1-3 in the preseason.
-
Guess we’ll see. There are very few QBs who can succeed behind a below average or bad O Line. Unfortunately Aaron Rodgers doesn’t play for the Bears.
-

In 4 years with the Bears, Mitchell Trubisky never showed an ability to read coverages or hit a guy in stride two passes in a row. His problem wasn’t the O-line. Thought it didn’t help him a lot either.
-
Yeah, it’s probably just coincidence that Chicago’s QBs suck ad nauseam.
-
Hahahaha Bearce…
Mitch Trubisky told @PardonMyTake that he was "very surprised" when the Chicago Bears drafted him. "I had no idea they were even interested in me. It was very unexpected."
Trubisky said the Bears forgot to call him on draft night to let him know he was getting picked.
-
Yeah, it’s probably just coincidence that Chicago’s QBs suck ad nauseam.
So it’s been the O-lines fault for 90 of the 100 years?
-
I find that a little bit hard to believe.
Wish I could say the same.

Oh the Bears will suck. I came to that conclusion long before this game. They could have beat the Bills 75-0 and picked off Mitch 5 times and it still wouldn’t have changed anything for me. Preseason performances are utterly meaningless save for guys fighting to make the roster.
-
So it’s been the O-lines fault for 90 of the 100 years?
Of course not. But the line has been really bad for quite a while.
-
Interesting…

-
Of course not. But the line has been really bad for quite a while.
And the line could have been good and Mitchell Trubisky would still top out at average NFL QB at best.
And once he lost a step, probably out of the league.
-
Can’t believe no one wants to talk Bears anymore.
-
PAMan, talk some Bears with me for chrissakes

Missed the game yesterday. Long day tailgating and traveling to/from Champaign. Heard Fields made a great TD pass.
Peters rusty allegedly.

When you have Montgomery, why do you need any more RBs?
-
5 TEs + 7 ILBs + 4 CBs + 3 RBs = 1 Clown Show.
-
The closer we get to the season starting, the less confident I feel the Bears can get anywhere near .500. Train wreck.

My final prediction: 6-11
And that might be giving them too much credit.

New fan favorite Rodney Adams cut the day after making the team. Bearce…

Now picking Bears to go undefeated
-
Now picking Bears to go undefeated
Now picking Bears to go winless.

Who was Dalton even throwing that to? There were only Rams in the area.
Then of course the Bears D gives up a bomb and the players give up and don't touch him down. Glad to see Nagy's boys are already on point.
-
https://twitter.com/barstoolchicago/status/1440730571689250824?s=21
Fields it is. Nagy’s dumb ass is still saying it’ll be Dalton when he’s healthy. Let’s hope Fields plays so well he eliminates that option.

Fields definitely has a higher ceiling though.

Dalton was “good,” and the offense was still impotent. There’s no upside to Dalton. This offense isn’t going to go on 3 13 play touchdown drives a game. It’s just not.
Nagy could have helped Fields by calling plays that suit what he already does well. 4 years in, and Nagy still calls plays for the offense he wishes he had, instead of the one he does.
-
Nagy will need to step up
-
Throwing the ball downfield??? The Bears???
-
Montgomery is a stud
Lazor has to be calling the plays. Haven't seen any stupid trick plays yet.
-
Bears D bending but not breaking. Two redzone stops. Great deflection by Ogletree.

That's a fucking weak RTP call.

The Lions can't score in the redzone for shit.
That was funny with Mack pitching it to Jackson on the return

Bears now have a better record than the Chiefs.
Extend Nagy and Pace ASAP.
-
Chiefs are not a top 3 team in the AFC right now.

Please let the wheels come off, and let the Bears fall to 3-7. It’s all I want for Christmas.
And oh, let Justin Fields stay healthy and look promising.

The OL is trying to make sure Fields leaves in a body bag.
7 seasons with Ryan Pace and this is what you get.

Herbert continues to impress

I think we can all agree that the Bears still suck

Hope the Bucs drop 50+ on these bums. Turn this into a Trestman/Tucker dumpster fire.

It might be mercy benching time for Fields. Lol.

5 turnovers for Fields so far. Get Nagy the fuck away from this franchise immediately after the game!

Fields would not be developing bad habits that someone else will have to undue.

Yes. Save Fields for a good coach.

Duh. You fucking dunce.

You mad?

How? By giving him COVID?
-
Fields looking good so far today.
Play calling is quite better too. Nice not having Nagy anywhere around the team.
-
Defense just gave up a screen pass for a TD on 3rd and 20.
Lol.
EDIT: Or not. Still pathetic to give that up on 3rd and 20 though.
-
What a TD run from Fields. That play looked fuck from the start.
-
Wow what a run by Fields. He singlehandedly evaded the whole 49ers team!😳
-
just turned it on and Fields made cake out of dog shit haha
-
Of course the kicker misses the PAT.
-
Of course the kicker misses the PAT.
what a doofus

Defense is a trainwreck

Rooting for the Bears is pain upon more pain. Endless pain.
-
Kevin White caught a pass for the Saints. Can't believe he's still in the NFL.
-
Another nail in the Pace/Nagy coffins. Yes, please.
-
Matt Nagy back in the building! Let the winning commence!
-
Man, Nagy is so bad. I was way AOTC on that one. Tempo should pat me on the back when he is not patting himself on the back.
-

I can pat both of us on the back. I was AOTC on Nagy and Pace as well.
-
You could give Nagy 20 years to prepare for an opponent and he would still come out with the same "game plan". The guy is a phony and a fucking hack.
-
I had my doubts in 2018 but I didn't quite go all in on the "Matt Nagy sucks AOTC" hand. At best, there was maybe a hint of AOTC on my part. Does that still count?

We knew this in 2019.

Good point. They’re ghosts.
-
We knew this in 2019.
Yep when he had all offseason to plan for the GB opener and his offense scored 3 points. I was officially on the Fire Nagy train then.
-
Sucks we’re not likely to see Justin Fields play on Thanksgiving.
-
Kevin White caught a pass for the Saints. Can't believe he's still in the NFL.
Really is shocking.

Really is shocking.
He got cut earlier today lol.

Ha. He’ll probably find a spot on a taxi squad somewhere. It’s crazy that he’s still around, though. Dude has done literally nothing for 5 years.

My bad, 7 years lol

26 receptions for 323 yards over 7 years, and as far as I’m aware doesn’t contribute on special teams. Truly remarkable he’s still clinging to the league.

How do you know he is rich?
Oh come on.
-
He’s a HOFer. I’m sure he can find a ride. A Google search says his net worth is between 3-5 million. I’d call that rich.
-
Apparently that is at least his 4th DUI. Actually did a week in jail after a 3rd in 2002.
One of my favorite Bears players of all-time, but a typical football meathead.

I was going to say, I thought this wasn't his first DUI... no clue he had 4... what an idiot!

Well, he moved to Indiana. McMichael lives in Romeoville. I bet they aren't rich.

At least 4, apparently.

He moved to Indiana because he’s a Trumplican, and to avoid Illinois’ politics and taxes. I don’t think McMichael made Hampton money, nor was as judicious with his career earnings, nor is McMichael a HOFer.
-
A Google search says McMichael is worth 3 million. Let’s be conservative and cut that in half and say 1.5 million. Still likely to be able to afford an Uber rather than drink and drive.
-
Hampton sold his Burr Ridge home for 1.3 million last February, so I’m guessing a $15 Uber ride fits in the budget.

I have. Like many towns there are nicer and not so nicer parts. Regardless, we’re talking about Hampton, who clearly isn’t struggling.

Point is I'm not sure if The Google is necessarily reliable when it comes to a person's finances.

Point is, I’m saying that likely Dan Hampton can afford to pick up a bar tab, and then pay for an Uber home.

Clearly, he’s not modern day NFL rich; but someone who just sold their mansion for 1.3 million probably isn’t hurting. More than likely he spends a lot of time on the golf course.

Saw him and Mongo in concert with their Chicago 6 band a couple summers ago. Otis Wilson is also in the band, but he was sick that performance, so he wasn’t able to make it. Did a meet and greet and picture with them beforehand. Pretty cool guys and band. Meeting and talking with Mongo and him was a childhood dream. Especially with how fast Mongo went downhill afterwards. Glad I got to see him when I did.
That said, Hampton’s 4 DUI’s are inexcusable.
-
Speaking of Otis, I once ran into him at the turn at Orchard Valley Golf Course in Aurora. Very brief, but memorable encounter.

Crazy to think the 1985 championship was 36 years ago. Hampton and Mongo were still like giants and humongous standing next to them. Really wish I could’ve seen Otis too.

Unless he’s looking to bail, would be a weird time for him to leave UM. Apparently he likes being in Ann Arbor. Won’t say it can’t happen, but I’d be a little surprised if this happens.
-
Why would Harbaugh leave his alma mater, which is one of the very best CFB jobs in the country, for one of the most poorly run NFL franchises? Especially just as he finally has UM back to elite status after years of toil?
-

I’m not saying he would, but ego could be a factor. He accomplished what he wanted at Michigan if he wins it all. Being money really isn’t a factor, he might just want the challenge. Idk his personal thought process though🤷🏻♂️

I'd take John Harbaugh.

Perfect time for him to leave because he can't go any higher than this year. He'll never beat Ohio State consistently. He'll never beat SEC teams in the playoff consistently.
Also being head coach of the Chicago Bears of the NFL is a more prestigious job than Michigan and one could argue easier since recruiting isn't involved.
He is a former starting Chicago Bears QB.
I think Jim Harbaugh wants the challenge of winning a Super Bowl. He got the 49ers to the Super Bowl and lost. I think he will want that challenge again in the NFL, and the Bears is one of the best jobs in all of football. It's the Chicago Bears, an iconic franchise. He'll never win a national title at Michigan, and this is his one year of beating Ohio State. It probably won't ever happen again bc Ohio State recruits at a different level.
It's very similar to when he was at Stanford battling USC. Stanford was never going to consistently beat USC. Ever. So he jumped to the 49ers when that job opened. Now you can argue Michigan/Ohio State is closer than Stanford/USC, but really it hasn't been competitive at all when Harbaugh's been there till this year. I don't think he's going to think he built something suddenly. He's just having 1 great year where everything falls in place and Ohio State is a little more down than they usually are.
-
I get all that, but he might just be happy in Ann Arbor.

Nice net 25 yard punt there.

Never understood teams punting it from the 40. Was a touchback and a 20 yard net punt when GB gets it. Just go for it. Honestly, wtf do you have to lose?! Bunch of pussies.

Nagy is scared to death he’s gonna get fired. It’s ironic because he probably will pulling shit like that.

I’d kinda like to see them get away from the empty sets. Put Montgomery back there and establish the run.
-
Loved the Quinn sack. Fuck Rodgers. I hope he gets injured.
-
Would be nice to have a TE helping Jenkins. But Nagy is dumb.

First and goal and a fucking false start, pushed back, and settle for a FG. Kmet sucks at catching the ball it appears. Might be a bad pick.

Show some respect for Nagy’s offense. He was COY in the 2018.

Was Quinn playing hurt all last year? He’s a totally different player this year.

I’ll give Kmet next year and that’s it. He needs to show something or gtfo. TE is a huge position in the game today and especially for a young QB.

But anyway, how is he of all DBs covering the Pack's best receiver?

Bears are on pace to score 54 points lol

Let’s hope. Khan is a lot smarter than the whole Bears organization it appears. Cut your losses and move on. More damage can come from keeping him longer.
Reports are the Bears locker room is split between those tanking and those fighting to win still. Jaylon Johnson I guess was saying this to the media.

A sober Hamp and OB discussed how he drops his hands before throwing the ball when in the pocket last week and wondered why the staff has not fixed it.
-
The Bears practice squad defense is actually holding their own.
-
The staff bear hoodies are cool. Everything else about this is hot garbage.
-
Gotta get rid of the ball, Fields. This isn't Ohio St facing Who Gives A Flying Fuck U anymore. You don't have that kind of time behind this offensive line.
-
The announcers were just saying how bleak the future looks in Chicago. I have to say I agree. Nagy should be fired before the game is over and Pace probably at the end of the game. Just terrible all the way around.
-
That’s a horrible personal foul penalty call on the Bears

The way this game is officiated they may as well wear skirts. JFC.

What the fuck are all these penalties?! I’ve never seen so many stupid fucking penalties in my life.

What the fuck are all these penalties?! I’ve never seen so many stupid fucking penalties in my life.
First one on Tabor was complete BS. He was trying to tackle the ball carrier.
Second one was Gipson being a dipshit. Nothing new for the Nagy Bears.
-
Bitching about the officiating sure beats the usual complaining about the Soldier Field turf.
-
This shit show needs to end fast. Embarrassing. Just forfeit the rest of the season please. I’m done watching until Nagy is gone.
-
That is so fucking Bears that they can't even get one first down after a blocked punt that gifted them field position.
-
Did the announcer just say Hicks was the first person ever drafted out of the University of Vagina?!😳😳😂😂🤣🤣
Regina sure sounded suspicious 😂
-
Gotdamn the Bears are terrible.
But, they get a TD on this drive, and right back in it.
-
Overall this is a terrible game all the way around. Just tell everyone to go home and get the fuck outta here before Fields gets killed. The Bears are pathetic.

Bears have 55 tight ends and every single one of them is useless.

Yeah drops are a major problem. That was supposed to be a strength of Kmet. Starting to look like a bust, but would like to see all these players under a different coach and scheme before judging too much.
-
Riddick making his best pitch for the front office job.

Pity TD there probably fucked over a lot of people lol
-
A must win for the Vikings, and a should not watch for everybody.
Plain old ugly.
61 yards passing against the scrubs. Lol.
-
Noble effort from an undermanned Bears defense last night. I thought Kirk Cousins might throw for 500 yards last night (but I’m not surprised he didn’t).
Last night is one game I wish Matt Nagy had forgotten the run game existed, and just thrown it 50x. We know David Montgomery is good. Have “some fun,” Matt Nagy and see if Fields can carry an offense. You’re 4-9 and you’re getting fired. Just let it all go.
-
Who wants dibs ?
😁
-
Again, the Bears play an undisciplined mistake riddled game. A reflection of their leadership and inept scheming, particularly on the offensive end.
One penalty I heard people criticize was the personal foul on Tevin Jenkins, which I didn’t mind a bit. You’re 4-9, and going nowhere. I’m glad Jenkins is out there showing his quarterback he’s got his back. In a playoff game, or an elimination game that’s a dumb penalty but at 4-9, no problem with it all.
-
Lastly, Fields has another up and down game. Has some things he definitely needs to iron out. Not going to judge him too harshly until he gets better coaches and players around him. I do think they finally found someone they can’t ruin. Super impressed by his mental and physical toughness and his professional approach.

I can’t imagine having enough interest in the Bears at this juncture to have the bandwidth on Christmas Eve to legit get pissed enough to post about whether Foles was on the zoom and what they said about Fields status as backup.
I know you are out in Itasca now and maybe you don’t know a lot of people yet but I guarantee you there are groups of middle aged people like us getting together and doing fun things each and every night this time of year.
Put yourself out there and find some chicken noodle soup for your soul. The Chicago Bears are toxic.

Who said I was “pissed?” Or “legit pissed” rather.
The Bears are a professional football franchise (allegedly). The point is, they aren’t run like one. Can’t say that I’m “pissed” Nick Foles wasn’t made available to the media, though. Having said that, it’s supposed to be part of the gig.
It’s more amusing and perplexing that the Bears can’t do even the simple things. They are a joke.

By the way, I had pasta with clams, shrimp, fish gravy, king crab legs, a great meat/cheese/nut spread, some
nice California Cabernet, and cheesecake among many other things; and still managed to squeeze that post in yesterday.
Don’t know how I did it, but I did.

No this doesn't change a thing. Nagy's ass is still gone. Seattle sucks anyway so it's not like this was an impressive victory or anything.
-
He won't be fired this week as was rumored.
-
I did hear about a report from Rappaport that Nagy could be fired after a loss today to take advantage of the coaching search rule. Kind of moronic this move would be contingent on a loss in Seattle, though. Just fire him tomorrow, and let Nagy go out on a high note.
-
He won't be fired this week as was rumored.
Because they won a meaningless game in Seattle in the last seconds, amirite?!
-
One of the hilarious things is they went so hard with the “we can win with Andy” approach; when they already had “Andy Dalton” on the roster in Nick Foles. And the Andy Dalton they already had probably gave them a better chance at winning.

It was not on TV here so I did not see it. Probably wouldn’t have watched it anyways.

The funny thing is, he accused me of not having a life because I was too busy making Bears takes. Nutella drink with Everclear?
It was amazing. Some home made recipe.
-
The Dalton signing made no sense. If they were going to go the veteran route this year, they should have went with Foles. I was willing to give him a pass on his poor performance last year, as he was with a new team and they essentially didn’t have a real training camp. And he wasn’t the designated starter to start the year, so any reps that were there to be had went to Mitch. I certainly didn’t see Dalton as an obvious upgrade.

Maybe the Bears should throw a fat payday at Sean Payton? Dude has been solid for years, this year has started 4 QBs, has had all kinds of Covid issues, and still fields a much better team than the one he grew up rooting for.
didn't they spurn him a long time ago when we had a job opening?
-
Payton's name is always bought up during Bears coaching searches. It never gets past the message board pipe dream stage though.
-
Hasn’t really been realistic til now.

Obviously, I’d love to have him; but the game he called tonight was truly Nagyesque. Sure, they were in a tough spot, but he did nothing to help his rookie quarterback tonight. I kept waiting for someone to pull at his face and reveal Matt Nagy underneath.
-
The Saints recently extended him to 2026. Hard to see the Bears giving up assets they can’t afford to get him. Won’t rule it out, but it’s a long shot unless he can somehow get out of that contract.
I think Mike Tomlin is a long shot, but maybe slightly more realistic. I’d be thrilled with either, but both will probably stay where they are.

Yeah no one will fire a Black coach in this political climate

Anthony Lynn disagrees.

I’m starting to think Doug Pederson might be the hire, and may be the best guy we could realistically get. Wouldn’t have to overhaul everything, and he’s probably the better version of Matt Nagy. I wouldn’t be thrilled with the hire, but I wouldn’t hate it.
Unfortunately, I don’t think it’s a great year to be looking for a HC unless there’s a diamond in the rough you stumble into.
-
A guy I’ve always wanted for the Bears is Bill Cowher. I liked the idea a lot better about the time Lovie was fired though. Not sure he has the desire, and worried about whether or not he’s been out of the game too long. He’s not that old. Worked with Dick Vermeil. He’s definitely someone I would contact if I was George McCaskey. He would be an enormously popular hire I would think. A smarter Mike Ditka.

RIP Jeff Dickerson. Lost his battle with cancer. I didn’t even know he was in that bad of shape.
His son has lost both parents to cancer in a span of two years. My heart breaks for him. Fuck cancer.

Had apparently taken a leave of absence in the last couple of weeks after learning colon cancer had spread.
-
Heartbreaking. Life can be so cruel. Can’t imagine losing both your parents at a young age.
-
Cancer can be cruel. RIP.
John Madden. RIP.
-
And now the football John Madden has passed.
-
Now John Madden too. Fuck.
Time to get a PS2 and fire up Madden 2004.
-
Once hosted an event in which Madden spoke to a local high school football team. Pulled up in the Cruiser. Authentic and great story teller. No part of the game that doesn’t feel his impact.
I was once asked in college speech class if a nuclear war broke out, who would I want to hear it from. The first name that came to mind was John Madden. RIP legend.

Quinn breaks Dent’s single season franchise record for sacks. Not bad for a guy who only had 2 sacks just last year.
-
Matt Nagy has coached his last home game!! So Bears to make him wait till Black Monday when they could begin the process now. It’s going to be a real bummer if Pace doesn’t go with him. Not firing Nagy could be a positive sign, as you wouldn’t want Pace interviewing your next HC; but typical for the Bears to put themselves at a disadvantage by waiting.

Nate hobbs arrested for DUI, found asleep at the wheel.
Good job representing Illinois. 👍

He didn't learn anything from the Henry Ruggs situation. What a shame.

He is in line to be MVP now.

Could keep him from getting hurt.

Dalton out playing the $84 million qb.
Nagy gets Da Bears to play for him in hopes of getting another year.
Zimmer can't get his guys to play for him in his last game.
Ooops. Nagy gets in the way on 4th and goal and calls a sack play.
Two teams looking to finish tied for 2nd in the division.
-
What is Nagy doing. He knows he’s gonna get fired after the game and literally does that on 4th and 1 from the 1 yard line?! He has no balls and is one goofy motherfucker.
Give me Jim Harbaugh with Vic as his DC please.

Maybe the pass call will work this time ?
Ooops.
-
I am the Tempo34 of being AOTC on Matt Nagy! Even congratulating myself!
-
How to piss off a player. Don't give him a chance to break a franchise record.
Jefferson needs 17 yards and don't throw another pass in the last 2 possessions.
Did Zimmer get a little nudge from up top ?
-
Apropos of nothing, I never got "The Experts" love of Matthew Stafford.

You can take the boy out of Detroit, but you can’t take the Lion out of the boy.

This has been an amazing exhibition of professional tackle football.

Nate Hobbs is going to have a good time tonight!

Oh dear. Tempo's caning boys now.

I think this news should go in the “Something we can all agree on thread” 😂

Lol.
The new GM and coach will be saddled with the risky Mack trade for the next 3-5 years.
Zimmer and Spielman gone also. Handcuffed by the risky $84 million qb decision for the past 3 years.
-
I’d be pretty happy if the Bears hired Spielman.

Is this you “in character” 🤔 lol
-
No, that’s an actual opinion.
-
Yikes
-
He’s been considered a top 10ish GM for several years. We could definitely do worse.
-
Or we could try to do better than a guy that just got fired. Not even mentioning the atrocious Cousins deal.
-

All GMs make mistakes, Spielman is no exception. But he’s an above average drafter, and I like the way he approaches the draft. Traded away Stefon Diggs for 4 draft picks, and replaced him with someone even better.
The Cousins deal made sense at the time. He stuck with Zimmer and Cosuins too long though, IMO. He knows the division. I’m not saying he’s my certain top choice, but I’d take him with zero complaints.
-
I’d definitely be comfortable with him as director of scouting.
-
Vikings invested too much money in Cousins, just like the Bears did with Mack.
Not enough money left to spend on improving the support players.
And Spielman and Pace missed on some 1st rounders.
Who explained contracts all of the time ? Royko?
-
McCaskey’s press conference is going over like a lead balloon.
-
That press conference couldn’t have gone worse after all of the goodwill built up from this morning.
-
These stupid fucking Bears are gonna hire Leslie Frazier, aren’t they 😡

George needs his ass beat. And Olin Kreutz is just the guy! That press conference literally made me puke a little in my mouth.

Man I guess I have to say if for like the 100th time, but what the hell do you guys expect at this point? Did you think getting rid of Pace and Nagy would actually solve the larger organizational issues?
It’s kind of amazing once you get away from the Chicago echo chamber for a while just how poorly the franchise is regarded these days. It’s nothing but a turnstile of ineffective front office/coaches/personnel just like every other garbage NFL franchise.
Outside of the talking heads and Bears die hards, almost no one gives a fuck about the ancient history and tradition the delusional fan base hangs its threadbare hat on.

Lot of similarities with Illinois athletics, unfortunately.
