I’ll stop just very short of calling it my “favorite” Beatles song, but it just finally dawned on me a week or two ago that Strawberry Fields Forever is their masterpiece.

I made myself a pretty good ham sandwich.

I dunno, paperback writer?

Agree but it doesn't have much of beat. "Nowhere Man" is up there for me. Except for their early works, not a lot to dance to.

Day Tripper. It translates nicely to a heavily distorted guitar tone. Great riff.
Also, While my guitar gently weeps.

Tax Man is a GREAT song. One of the most overlooked Beatles songs IMO.

It took me until just recently to realize George Harrison was every bit the equal of Lennon/McCartney.

If you mean song they released, Twist & Shout.
If you mean it on pop composition terms, probably Revolution or Eleanor Rigby.

This would also get my vote for best cover of a Beatles song.
The all-star tribute to George Harrison at the 2004 Rock and Roll HoF Induction Ceremony linked by Custard is also an outstanding Beatles song cover and has been in rotation on my phone for years. Marc Mann's contribution -- he played lead (until Prince took over) -- is often overlooked because of Prince's solo.

This is as good as any of the early Beatles.

Their cover of "Please Mr. Postman" from very early on is still the standard.
-
It's come to the point where we're explaining the Beatles to Tempo.

Google says the best Beatles songs are:
1. A Hard Day's Night
2. A Day In The Life
3. Yesterday
4. Strawberry Fields Forever
5. Something

The hero worship for Something, which has grown louder over the years, is a fine example of the problem chronicled in this thread.
Something is as boring, predictable and Middle of the Road as Beatles songs get.

Dumpster diving has significantly impaired your appreciation for music.
