Title: Latest Article/Conjecture about the Program
Post by: ILLINICHIEF on April 28, 2021, 09:58:19 AM
https://chicago.suntimes.com/2021/4/27/22406548/illinois-basketball-illini-ayo-dosunmu-kofi-cockburn

I have seen other articles in regards to the coaches possibly leaving, this one however is the first I have seen in regards to actual loss within due to this.

Curbelo a possible? We all may have thought this with OA leaving, but now it is in print, RJ and Plummer others as well? It may not be hard concrete reporting, but the hint is definately there.

Hutcherson and the back injury...will he even still be a scholarship player? Seems to point to the possibility that he may not be?

Really not a lot there that we haven't discussed here....

I think it has been mentioned here for awhile that we could lose recruits if OA and Chin leave.
Anything is possible. Only Goode has signed of 21 and 22 recruits. I am sure any recruit (and maybe even transfers if not enrolled) can get out if there are staff changes and they request it.
I believe the portal deadline is May 1st, so if the OA and Chin announcement is Friday then Curbelo could announce that day on April 30th.
I am guessing he and Plummer are package right now and it would be both staying or leaving. That could be one helluva Black Friday.

Hutcherson is supposedly doing well in workouts and the videos and reports (Kedric and others) seem to indicate he will be ready and likely have significant role. He is 6'7" in socks and is the longer wing we have not had who has ball skills and can guard bigger wings. If he is healthy- he sounds like a player.

I am assuming Miller is long gone, and Kofi likely gone.
We should still be competitive if no more defections and the new guys show up.
As always, I have no fckign idea what is going to happen.

It will be interesting. If the roster holds- Curbelo will get free reign to do whatever he wants and we will be chucking threes like a bitch. That means some ridiculous numbers and upsets when hot. And some beat downs when cold.

RJ Melendez and Brandin Podziemski signed the NLI.  Omar Payne signed some kind of scholarship  agreement.

The scrambling for assistants comment comes across as Chi-town passive aggressive condescension. To some extent, UI itself has earned this, but so have others. Also, so far, the AD and Uberwood seem to have plans in place.

Can't remember the last school who did actually try this, but they quickly rescinded that action. My guess it will never happen again now.

I agree as we all know the reporting is slanted out of C-Town historically, lets hope this doesn't come to fruition now though. Chin we can afford to lose now, OA I am deadset against losing if there is anyway to keep him in place.

Not sure on that free reign part...the staff has brought in athletes and shooters. Belo will be givin free reign to create his shot (driving) and dishing to others, (3's) not so much. My understanding is however that he is hosting alot of practice shots, so that could change.

Don't forget Frazier is back and DaMonte may be as well?

Nahh, these mainstream media guys are no better than the Twitter and Blog and related sites and get their info from same places as us, or are one and the same. They usually are late to the game.

We will have very limited post offense with Jobu and Hawkins and BBV and Lieb.
I am guessing we take 23-24 threes a game. Could easily be the best threeball team we have had here- or the most reliant on them at least.
We were 310th in country in attempted threes (17) last year. Baylor took 24 a game.
Ncaa avg is 21-22.

Plummer is being brought in to shoot a buttload of threes. My guess is 7-8 a game by himself. You just let him go.
Frazier is all about transition and threes. He really has limited midrange and finishing skills in halfcourt and can't really get his own. You let him go also.
My guess is Curbelo is planning on having a huge year and hoping to go pro. He will have to show he has a midrange and threeball.
He will be one of highest possession guys in country. It is his team. Let him have fun out there.

Hutch is advertised as a skilled wing and three guy. Not sure he can get to the rim off the bounce, but maybe. He certainly has the best hops on team.
He is a mystery and an X factor.
Damonte can't really score other than spot up threes. They may start him or Grandison early or if Hutch can't go, or bombs.
The new guys are all interesting and could be good scorers down the road, and they like to shoot. Will need to see how they fit in, but let it rip.

I do agree we will be heavily dependent on the 3....based on what we end up with for final spots/transfers possibly.

I think Payne could be a rim runner similiar to how Augie did for us....not comparing games, just types of athletic bigs. Hutcherson, can even get to the court....really past wondering actually. I hope the kid contributes to be honest. Grandison and Williams I both like cause they do all the little things, but on the court the same time alot equals stagnant offensive options imo.

Payne looks like he is pretty athletic. I know Kedric is pretty excited about Hutch so maybe he will surprise. I like both G and Damonte, but they need to come off the bench IMO.

I know we all know what exactly has gone on with Illinois, but put into context it seems a bit overwhelming for a just ousted #1 seed in the NCAA tournament.

Chin Coleman and Orlando Antigua, GONE! All-American guard Ayo Dosunmu to the NBA Draft, Kofi maybe to NBA, Miller - GONE! Giorgi GONE!

Frazier GONE and back! Da’Monte back, Illini signed three top-150 kids Class of 2021 (Luke Goode, Brandin Podziemski and Ramses Melendez) Alfonso Plummer/Omar Payne join the ILLINI. Storr commits/decommits from the 2022 Class.

Chester Frazier, an Illinois alum, hired to Coach and we still need more....that is alot of change in a short amount of time.

Sure Self moved there....clicked his heels twice, got some better recruits than at Illinois. He won our National C-Ship there, and our beloved sucked for 15 years....we argued, we cheered, we lamented the fact that the hairpiece wonder shirked us for a blue blood....and well we mostly are barely moving on....goodday sir. ;D

No need for him to go anywhere. He can showcase himself as well or better here as he will be completely  running the show and a primary scorer.
He should make some ALL BT teams.
If he shows any kind of perimeter shot he is gone after next season.

I think over time we will see that Frazier is a great hire...he is already going on a decade of experience and has helped immediately for us. Anderson will help create Kofi into an NBA player (he has alot to work on), as well so between these two with Alexanders ties within the rest of the state and midwest. I doubt we will have Weber/Groce  2.0 recruiting woes going on.

I think we'll definitely be fine. It is hard to compare this new staff with the old, because the roles don't translate.

Here is my premature uninformed dumbass take, subject to correction and change without notice:

Chester Frazier takes OA's role as the primary national recruiter and Chin's role coaching the guards.

Tim Anderson takes Chin's role as the primary Chicago recruiting connection. Also adds a new dimension as an overall talent development coach.

Geoff Alexander replaces Gentry as the
x's and o's guy and takes over OA's role as main big man coach. Also adds multiple in-state recruiting connections.

No one has been named to replace Alexander as special assistant to Brad Uberwood. Tyler Uberwood assumes a new administrative position as director of analytics for recruiting and scouting.

Yeah, dude. We get how badly you want Chet’s cock in your mouth. You tell us about it every chance you get. You love him. You want to fuck him, and you want him to fuck you. It’s in multiple threads.

Awesome. Maybe let’s see how it goes. And I really don’t want to know how his cock tastes.

Sound good?

Jobu....every fucking time really...your screenname sounds like what may come out of Chet's cock as you put it and flies into your mouth everytime you think about knocking some other poster on here.

Scroll on man, scroll on...the entire post wasn't only about Frazier, however, he has already had influence with 2 top 150 guys who very well will end up being better than their current rankings. I guarantee he had a roll in keeping current players and possibly getting Kofi to come back as well. So he is already ahead of where we were during the Groce/Weber years for the most part.

If you would like to go back to the likes of 2011, Webers "best?" Abrams/Egwu/Henry/Shaw/Langford/Djemde....most of which didn't even stick around, or Groce "Best?" Frazier/Williams/Tilmon/Pickett....again who stayed? If this is what you want for the ILLINI, moving forward, than go ahead and go to Manhattan and Akron and get on your knees and blow your favorites instead of bashing posters on here with no relevant information or anything to offer. You sure do bring up cock alot in your multiple posts...maybe thats not the only way you bring cocks up? Enjoy the taste Jobu....don't choke on that by the way either.... :P

Lkdog knows his basketball. When he posts, I listen.

Breal has decent info. Again, when he posts, I listen.

When you post, I think, oh boy, waste of time, and not worth it.

You’re really not worth a fuck. Your sense of humor is garbage and you have no real info that anyone else doesn’t know already.

The minute you started that stupid fucking ass coach thread, I knew you were worthless and not to be taken seriously. I will say it again. You are a fucking terrible poster, and you belong on Jeremy’s site, sucking each other’s dicks.

So, I’m gonna go ahead and say go fuck your self, get a terminal disease, and leave us.

Yet again, nothing of relevence....racking up those pseudo applause ratings....well done, like a piece of roadkill motherfucker.

You literally come on here to verbally spar with everyone, except obviously the two above...how's that cock taste? Blowing them, since they are the only ones you like on here. What do we have like 15 total posters and you like 2, blow your way to the top huh.

If my posts are so bad, scroll on like I said, feel free to read your favorite 2 people posting like what, once every month or so? Again the literacy, no wonder they are your favorites, your comprehension skills can keep up with their posting efforts.

As far as the terminal disease, maybe thats down the road, better than living with one currently like you Jobu...you are the terminal disease on here. Your screen name should be chlamydia-your the disease that keeps on giving on here.

Thanks motherfucker you too, thanks for yet another dipshit response. Nice of you to actually be one of the regular posters on here. I can respect that, even if you are of no relevence usually. Keep on keeping on though, and you as well have a shitty day village idiot.

All in the same dumpster.

I have three good ones now, and left an okayish one on the curb for someone else to fuck with.

I wish CT would come back so I could itemize all the stuff I ate over the last month. It's pretty astounding.

Ten years experience has given me a good eye. I saw the Kindle Fire through the tall kitchen garbage bag. The shape, size and color were right.

Of course, it wouldn't have worked if the bag had been black.

Then I saw a delivery Chinese food item. It had a clear plastic top, so I could see that it was fresh and full.

I've never crossed this particular bridge before. But because it was near the top, and still warm, I knew it had just gone in.

I ate it two nights ago. Because I survived, Heather had some the next night with basmati rice I'd also found.

We enjoyed it. Cashew Kung pow chicken, I think.

My only question/observation is why would somebody throw it away unless there was something wrong with it?! You have no idea what was on or in that food you just ate. It’s in the trash for a reason.

That’s pretty nasty, to be honest.

Heather must think you’re a helluva catch for bringing her food out of the dumpster.

This is the week a lot of people flip apartments. That's part of the calculation, too.

So I'd guess that somebody ordered too much food for the last meal after wiping down the fridge and kitchen countertops.

Or maybe they didn't realize it would have a shitload of hot peppers.

The amount of food waste is astounding.

A couple of weeks ago I found a delivery box, never opened, with three meals worth of food (and recipes/instructions). Three vacuum packs of meat (one ground beef, one chicken breast, one ground pork) and potatoes, carrots, some potato buns ...

These things are delivered overnight with refrigeration packs. I find a lot of the boxes and "recyclable" bags of cooling goo. But I'd never found one completely unopened.

Lots of late night meals aren't making it to the drunks who pay for them, too. Now that we have contactless delivery, the pizza or sandwich driver leaves the food in a designated spot, texts the buyer, then leaves

But the buyer is already passed out, or fucking. I've seen whole pizzas and bags of Chipotle still outside at dawn.

Agree the amount of food waste is mind boggling when so many go to bed hungry each night.
I was on board of Feeding America local foodbank. We figured out ways to safely access and distribute product that was previously thrown away.

I don't think I would eat food out of dumpster though. Lol.

Coincidentally, because Heather was nearly crying about the food waste when she got home, and asked me what I could do to help, I started organizing.

I'd be interested in some tips.

I reached out to the guy who runs the local hard times center (I donated ten computers from my computers recycling project last year, so I already know him). I also tagged a woman from the United Way whom I e-met earlier this year. She just became an alderman in Urbana so I expect she'll have some thoughts about redistribution.

The United Way in CU area is good resource about general human service agencies. They are small, but viable. You know my agency. We have worked with them for decades.

I'm sure it's fine. I don't believe I've ever had it.

The Chipotle delivery bag sat on the top of a car's trunk. The pizza, on the other hand,  was left on the sidewalk in front of the locked communal door.

One seemed more individualized than the other. It wasn't in anyone's way. It hadn't been rained on.

The pizza was due to be stepped on, thrown away, squirrelled away or raccooned away within the hour.

I stand by my choice.

The printed delivery tag/receipt showed that it had been ordered around 2 am, and that the buyer paid $20.

I can't imagine paying $20 for a Papa John's pizza. And I think a dollar of that was for a single pepperoncini.
Title: Re: Latest Article/Conjecture about the Program
Post by: Custard on July 25, 2021, 12:05:17 PM
I ordered a large four topping Papa John’s pizza just last night with an extra garlic butter to make the pizza itself palatable. It also came with a single pepperoncini, which was notable to me because they used to come with several. Maybe even more than several. I paid $14.04 but it was a pickup rather than delivery. Totally not worth it.

I do this same thing with Taco Bell and White Castle. Once in a blue moon I recall that at one time I ate something there that I liked. And then I go there because I’m bored with the other options and gloss over the recollection that my last umpteen trips were regrettable. And thus the cycle perpetuates itself.

Papa John's is exactly the company you'd expect to create if you got a bunch of venture capitalists in a room to brainstorm a cut-rate version of Domino's.

And like the 45th president, the key to getting people behind it is telling them it's "better" when it's demonstrably worse.

Turning on my way back machine: Used to be a place in Urbana called Pagliai's. Had pretty good thin crust, Greek style pizza.

Been a minute, but Maxwell Street Polish, Mickey's Gyros, or a hot beef at a Vienna Beef stand.

More recently, chicken tenders at Culver's.

The original is in Charleston and I believe it’s the only location now.

Other than Papa Del’s in Champaign and Filippo’s in Monticello, it’s the best pizza in central Illinois imo.

Stiffer competition in towns where they stopped trying.

The Urbana location was great. But by the mid-90s it was gone. I'm not sure why except maybe lawyers can't wait around for a pizza to bake.

If I'm getting awful pizza I definitely prefer PJ's to Domino's

I once heard a story from a coworker of mine when I was 16 or 17 or doing painting, about how he used to work at Dominoes and he came in super early one morning and the dude who comes in even earlier that makes the dough was fucking a huge dough ball on the table that he would make it on... lol lets just say I was not interested in ever eating there again after hearing that

2022 Class is looking to be a pretty solid class from the guard aspect of course with Epps/Lewis/Bass all committed. Assuming all 3 make it here, along with our current freshman stepping up, even with losing Williams/Frazier/Belo, I would think the staff would be offering ALL scholarships to bigs.

We will be loaded from guard and wing areas. Kofi will be gone, that leaves Payne/Hawkins/Leib as our bigs? I know we have quite a few offers out there to bigs, but outside of Huff/maybe Corhen....all seem unattainable. Casey is possible I suppose, but even if this is the case he is a combo forward at best coming in.

Has anyone heard of any other BIGS that we have an interest in and that are strong possibilities,
