Ivy League Tourney cancelled
MAC conference will be played with out spectators along with the BIG WEST tourney
Dayton has suspended all on site activities which would include the first 4 tourney and they are working with the NCAA right now
Are we looking at a NCAA tourney with no spectators or even cancelled?

I would go with the latter. Better weather, lower cost of living, more recreational activities, etc. Couldn't pay me enough to live in Chicago but to each his own.

I am supposed to be in Clearwater/Tampa next week and was going to try and see some games.
Hard to say what will happen.
The lack of response and adequate testing can only mean we are at the tip of the iceberg on getting a handle on this thing in USA.
One guy in NY area infected 50 people in a few days.
Europe and Asia have drive up testing available.
We have pretty much limited testing unless you get special approval.
My hunch is they are considering have games without spectators. The legal liability and community health risks are mounting by the hour.

Hell, most of the tournament games have many empty seats already. Since no team knows where they'll be playing , there will be more empty seats because no one has bought their air fare yet. It's a television tool except for the final 4. I'd lean towards playing without the fans. It's a tough call but the potential downside is significant. :'(
Who knows, maybe the zebras will call it fair?

They are rationing ventilators in Milan - which is a hell of a lot more developed than Reno, because there are too many sick people. If the US doesn't want a similar result, we need to slow the spread. People are gonna get sick, and some will be hospitalized. If that happens over a longer stretch, we'll actually have enough beds.

if they don't cancel the tourney, they should skip the scheduled venues altogether. play the games at the home of the higher seed. Set up the brackets as true regionals to limit the amount of travel. It would make for some pretty funky seeding but the whole thing is pretty funky anyway.

Mike Judge had an interesting theory with his movie idiocracy, where educated people had fewer kids and stupid people had more kids, once society had evolved to the point where educated people wanted fewer kids because they didn't *need* more kids, and stupid people didn't die before they could have more kids.
One thing he didn't consider was a global pandemic that stupid people would thumb their noses at. To be fair, Coronavirus mostly impacts the elderly who have long since passed on their genes.

It's an extraordinary measure, but this is an extraordinary public health crisis that we have not responded to in any sort of coherent or serious manner as it spreads nationwide.
We have a total fucking incompetent buffoon as POTUS who claimed yesterday building THE WALL will stop Coronavirus.
We have 1200 cases, 23 states have declared an emergency, and the number of infected is unquestionably many more that we do not know of due to the abysmal response and lack of testing.
Having public gatherings of 20,000 plus people in urban areas is a recipe for increasing a public heath crisis that is believed to be on the verge of being, or already out of control, by the handful of adults still left in the room in this clown shoes administration.
At least Dr. Anthony Fauci is being allowed to speak and we do not have to listen to Pence and Fox News, and Trump telling people he has a talent for this and should have been a doctor and this will all go away.
I am sure our Impeached Criminal Psychopath Moron in Chief may have some more great ideas tonight like bailing out the resort and hotel industry, but they have been coaching him all day to STFU for once.
I think the market crash and increase in cases from 15 (which he claimed would be the end and is now 1200 and counting) have him shitting his pants and they will get him to say and propose something legitimate.

Agree w/ this. The venues have no incentive to host if people aren't showing up - they're already making insurance claims across the board - so might as well play games to isolate the population centers as much as possible.
