wut
-
According to ESPN
'Like the Hawkeyes, the Fighting Illini had never had a first-team pick until Dosunmu came along. The two-time All-Big Ten guard led them to the conference tournament title last weekend and a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tourney."
-
I think Dee was first team on Sporting News
-
Yup, Dee (twice) and Luther were 2nd team and Deron 3rd team. Ayo first ever 1st team for Illinois.
-
That’s mind boggling
-
That’s mind boggling
Dee not being first team in 04-05 is unbelievable. We were 32-1 ffs.
-
Musta been that final let-down weekend. Fuckin' Matt Sylvester.
-
Illini history with AP All-Americans
1983 Derek Harper 2nd team
1987 Ken Norman 2nd team
1990 Kendall Gill 3rd team
2001 Frank Williams 3rd team
2003 Brian Cook 3rd team
2005 Dee Brown & Luther Head 2nd team, Deron Williams 3rd team
2006 Dee Brown 2nd team
-
Congrats to Ayo.
I'm having a hard time believing Kofi is 2nd team.
-
How the hell hasn't there been anyone before Ayo? I figured at least Dee was a no doubter.
-
Good question.
Next question.

Chuck Darling of Iowa was 1st team AP in 1952.
-
And no one from the 89 team named whatsoever
-
This article strikes me as strange when we had two guys on first two teams

Sweet.

We had 3 AAs basically canabalizing each other. Same thing in ‘89.

"Team vs Talent" remember :)
Deron sure did

A good way to look at it, Deron and Nick both were picked higher than their AA rankings and outperformed their pick level in the NBA
They had some serious stats but diluted by the others on those stacked teams,. but anyone who really watched those teams knew that they were the top level players from those teams.
-
USA Today player of the year, holy shit Ayo congrats and well deserved.
-
Congrats Ayo. 👏👏👏
Thanks for the Big10 championship and the BTT title.
-
Way to go Ayo, thanks for bringing us back from the dead.
-
USA today gets it....glad Underwood stuck with Ayo during that Horton-Tucker mess.
-

And did not give Mark Smith those 3-4 minutes a game!
-
Cook was third team wow
Frankie should have been 1st team....if he had the drive

According to a few common posters back then that was grounds for firing lolol

😂🤣 oh how true this is.

Supposedly there was a complicated personal matter with Horton-Tucker and Ayo's fam.
Who knows. It sure worked out.
Kid exploded second half of this year like nobody we have ever seen here.
-

We burned a pipeline that gave us exactly 1 great player in 30 years. We sure never recovered from that mess.

You know a lot of truth to that. I did like Notree though.

I still think that whole situation was a debacle, but in the end it more than worked out for us.

Miles Leonard beat me to the Simeon hand wringing angle. It’s kinda funny that the one good Simeon player we got in this century (and the only decent current NBA player that played for Illinois) is emblematic of the on and off court embarrassment the occurred between 2007-2019. And we had to take Jaylon Tate to get him. And John Groce, the great recruiter whose system relied on a dynamic scoring PG, couldn’t even recruit over him or 6 years of injured Tracy Abrams.
Which reminds me...another thing I like about Underwood is that we don’t constantly have players in the police blotter.

I think he might be talking about Nick Anderson......
-
it’s a whole story within a story but I sure hope he gets cleared to take that mask off they need him 100% to win it all.
-

And no one has been left for dead in a car. Has that going for him.
-
We burned a pipeline that gave us exactly 1 great player in 30 years. We sure never recovered from that mess.
The thing about pipelines is that every kid can make an individual choice and if you're 28-5 and a top 4 seed every year no one's going to give a fuck that Coach Bum is butthurt over a 6'5" power forward not getting offered 10 years ago, and if you're not, it's an uphill battle getting Jabari Parker to listen regardless of where your school is located.
-

Ahhhh, the good ‘ol days.
-
Ahhhh, the good ‘ol days.
Don’t talk about that, it’s over 6 years ago bud. Off limits.....🙄😂
I’m kidding I’m kidding, glad you’re back honestly. I was starting to feel proud of being white and realized that’s not allowed. Weird how everyone can have pride in their culture/race except us. It’s actually quite, ummm, shall I say, racist/discriminatory that that’s the case. Just because I’m proud to be white doesn’t mean I think less of other races or want to harm or hold them down.

Hey man, I’m happy for you and your “white pride.”

Everything I needed to know in life, I learned from George Carlin.

Hey man, I’m happy for you and your “white pride.”
Why do you say it with parentheses and with a negative connotation?! Like can I be happy with who I am? Why should I go through my whole life feeling bad about myself?

Hey man, I’m just saying it’s nice that you enjoy your “white pride.” That’s really nice. Not everyone gets that pleasure.
-

You shouldn't. Nobody should.
And nobody should do stupid shit to hurt other people.
I don't care who you are or what color your skin is.
Just don't be an asshole is the golden rule.
Life is really pretty simple.

Yeah! I mean, why should we actively try to change the world for the better? I mean it wasn’t ME that held slaves or made blacks ride in the back of the bus...amirite? We are EQUAL now...amirite, again?
-
The opinions on racism from people whose lives have been completely unaffected (or even enhanced) by racism are quite educational. Keep those informed opinions coming, fellas.

A”fucking”men
And to be politically correct for Tempo,
A”fucking”women.

Sometimes you might want to quit assuming things about others and take a few plays off.
You have no idea about my cultural background, or what I do and I can assure you I speak from a place that is quite well versed personally and professionally in race, class, equality, social justice, and law enforcement matters in our communities.
I spend my time trying to make things better. Talk is cheap.
-
Has your life been affected by racism? Judging from your OG HQ pic, you're pretty fucking white.
What makes your opinion better or worse than anyone else's?
I'll provide my opinion on racism: It sucks. I don't care if you're black, white or yellow. If you're a human being, you are probably a shitty person in one fashion or another.
Things don't have to be so fucking complicated.
No, my life has not been affected by racism (for the worse anyway). But I: 1) apparently am capable of deeper levels of empathy than many of my fellow whities 2) actually took some time to learn about the experiences of people who look different than me
-
Why do you say it with parentheses and with a negative connotation?! Like can I be happy with who I am? Why should I go through my whole life feeling bad about myself?
I’m just guessing that if people had been tortured and treated like disposable property for 250 years and then systematically oppressed for another 150 simply because they looked like you, perhaps you’d feel differently?
-
Can we take the lack of empathy and white guilt to the deuce please?
-
Don't look now Lkdog, but you're responding to OG HQ bullshit. Ya know, Tempo trying to tell us that we're all insensitive to racial issues. See, he's been doing that since the day he wanted Illinois to hire Lorenzo Romar.
Again, I didn't start this bullshit.
Yes, Lorenzo Romar in 2012ish was the backup plan if like the top 4 choices didn’t pan out. You got me.
