In a reasonable world, assuming everything is as bad as 67% of the US allegedly thinks it is, you’d think that Democrats would be a shoo-in for a midterm landslide.
Somehow, some way, they may learn (again) the hard way that Anti-Trumpism and handouts doesn’t constitute an effective platform. But I wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t.

It is absolute insanity to have your healthcare tied to your employer. For example, my son’s mother’s place of employment is shuttering and she lost her healthcare because they didn’t pay the bills. But let it be known Mn (cough cough) says you have the right to go fuck yourself if you lose your job through no fault of your own or get sick.

Over 80 million Americans are on Medicaid, which is basically free universal healthcare. The vast majority of these people are older or low income.
Something like 86% of people in this category are insured by Medicaid. The ones that aren’t enrolled typically just haven’t chosen to do so.
For those of us that aren’t low income, we typically rely on gainful employment tied to our insurance. It may be insane in your mind, but I love the fact that my employer pays the vast majority of the cost for my very good insurance. It’s a great perk and is a good way for companies to attract top talent.
There are other resources for folks without insurance like free and low-cost clinics, community clinics, charity hospitals, ACA has cost sharing reduction options and tax credits to help those in need. There are private group plans people can get into to save on premiums.
It’s just really not as bad as some people make it out to be. And I’ve heard enough firsthand horror stories of how bad socialized medicine can actually be in practice. And all it does is jack up taxes on top of it.

So your taxes go up by a few thousand a year, but your employer now needs to attract that top talent with some manner other than health insurance. Fortuntately for them, they are no longer paying for your health insurance, and can attract you by paying you more money.
I guess one flaw would be all the unemployed CEOs at Cigna and Blue Cross. Then again, with their 9 figure pay packages out the window, we can use that money to actually provide health insurance.
As for horror stories of socialized medicine in other countries.... it's pretty wild that you preach this American Exceptionalism but you don't think that we are capable of getting it right. I understand you might be pretty down on the capabilities of the US after watching Trump spend the last 18 months trying to turn this place into a dumpster fire, but what's the point of living if you're gonna be such a goddamn pessimist. When I come to the game in Champaign I don't want to be near your sorry ass "Oh wah, Purdue is gonna beat us, we suck, blah blah blah this is gonna be awful"

His voters just got conned into “he’s a business man” and trusted him, other voters looked at what little actual *policies* he discussed and knew he’d accomplish the opposite of his promises.
