Hansberry seems like a beast

2nd half he showed up and against early season competition....lets see what he does come conference and staying on the floor. That said I never thought he was that athletic, a reach for the B1G, but he does have a way around the court and finding the ball. Good Luck to all former ILLINI, even Rez.

Got 4 different FUTURES bets in today...$10.00 each

ILLINI - 1800 ....If we get healthy top-bottom, we should have as good a chance as anyone, we will be funneled through I am guessing a Kansas/Auburn bracket

L-VILLE +1600...they got a beef with the NCAA, wanting banner back etc....bone to pick there, and they have legit guards

UNC + 3500...freshman will get good with Trimble gone, recruiting is hitting right now,

DUKE +1200...just makes ya wanna drink and bet on them Boozer's....Not sure Scheyer has the win it all chops yet though.

2025-2026 season (Michigan) Good thing he made that move to maximize his ability/skill set. HAHA!!!

Points: 14.7
Rebounds: 7.7
Assists: 1.3
Field Goal %: 63.3%

As long as Morez gets to play the way his Daddy thinks he can/should, I am sure Michigan will be just fine.

They got 58 today vs Sparty.

For the game.
Sparty wins 74-58.

Mizzoura playin it's first real game lost to ND last night. 2 seniors lead the way, 1 big, suspect guard play....we win this years bragging rights easily imo!!!

Iowa Michigan St game, Iowa literally had 1 player in double figure scoring, not sure i remember the last time i saw that happen to a P-5 school?

Really wished we could have gotten Cade Tyson, that kid at 6'7 guard play would have been an amazing add for us. Good for the Gophers. Indy is so overhyped this year....don't see them finishing above mid pack. The other teams will figure the formula to beat them is contain DeVries, their next best player is the kid from Troy???

And if you're wondering about Sandfort's line...big fat zero. Tell me you didn't see that coming after he lit us up.

I don't hold it against Morez but the portal system that has been created sucks.
It's a buy a player for a year system where some of the buyers simply have a lot more money to dole out.

Coney Durr is an ex-Gopher.

Morez fouls out with 3 points and 7 boards. tPSU down 1 with a minute to go. tPSU leading scorer didn't play (?).

tPSU had the ball for the last shot and lost track of time. Missed a low percentage 3 at the buzzer. They outrebounded Sven's team.

David Coit for Maryland dropped 43 pts in their win today vs PSU. Hope he got all that out of his system. We still better be all over him come Wednesday.

He's had a couple of 3 30pt + games out of last 8 games, and 2 40 pt games back to Nov 25....not bad for a Kansas sub 6'0 transfer. A scorer for sure, Led the NJCAA Division III in scoring after averaging 30.6 points per game in 21-22, scored 15 per game and 20 per game Northern Illinois and then Kansas and now Maryland. Boswell better make him DRIVE the ball. Interesting he has also had a 0 pt game as well as many single digit games scoring?????

Last and only loss was Nov 28th to Stanford. Granted it was Stanford, and they are in the A-10, but 21-1 is still just that.

Currently projected 1st Rnd game vs Wisconsin and Iowa State would loom....

They are so up and down, Peterson is the ONLY guy they got for any sustainable run into March. He gets hurt or foul troubles any one game....Kansas is barely Top 25 imo....maybe not even that.

Here ya go, Judge.

From today's fishwrap but the write-up didn't include the 'tho Izzo said that he sat Fears for a few minutes as a coaching lesson, Fears played more than his average number of minutes against both Michigan and Minnesota.
Izzo's comments are expected to be met with relief from conference officials and Izzo is anticipating Fears playing his normal well rounded defensive game without fouling when Illinois comes to East Lansing on Saturday evening for an important game featuring 2 of the top teams in the league.'

Polls are fairly legit....Kansas is far too high imo, however if they keep Peterson on the court....legit Top 10, as we are with Wagler.

St Johns is over rated imo, as is BYU also, although I really like the way Sanders plays the game AJD is lucky to have him alongside...it helps him alot and vice versa.

Zags are getting played so far with only 2 losses, I feel as if the past years of being ranked highly, then fizzling out may cause this...others have caught on.

Penny Hardaway if fired end of season? Needs bigger NIL bag, can get players, can coach (some)....personality for the conference.

Bobby Hurley almost certainly gone from ASU at end of year?

Jake Deibler-hot seat in middle of B1G, not good enough for "The" program?

Steve Pikiell - Rutgers....had a good run, red headed step child once again it seems.

2 very aggressive defensive teams the entire game, anyone meeting either in March will have their hands full, that said both looked very beatable at times. Double team/traps for both teams, made the pg/ball handing guards easily rattled it seemed. Very sloppy passing with defensive pressure, not overall good 3 pt shooting by either as well, take Heise and Fleming out of the equation....not good. FT shooting put either team on the line, and it would seem you would win against either one....horrendous. Houston is 31st nationally......................................BUT Iowa State is 348??????, btw Gonzaga is 277th...WOW

I recently watched all of the old 2004 2005 Illini basketball games in their entirety. Maybe it’s different for you guys, but I remembered us pretty much beating the shit out of every team we played in every game to the point where I thought we were invincible.

The reality was that team had to grind out a lot of tough wins against not very good teams. And the Big Ten was not good in that stretch of years.

Yeah, Michigan State and Wisconsin got deep that year, but Wisconsin was a bit of a fluke and the rest of the league was hot garbage. We barely squeaked out away games against bad Purdue and middling Iowa. Went to OT at home against Iowa, struggled with a terrible Michigan team at home. Lost to a bad OSU team after letting our foots off the gas.

That squad played a LOT of games in the 50s/60s that year and they almost went undefeated. Crazy to see where we are now.

UCLA goes down by over 20 pts (2nd game in a row), should be 3 really quick (Saturday), Cronin ejects his own player, and goes off on reporter about MSU student section.

UCLA got a 4.5 million per year Coach who has lost this team imo, doesn't have a very good overall team makeup, Contract buyout drops from 22.5 million to 18 million if after March of this year. 2nd highest paid coach in the B1G right now.

Any guess' on the next B1G coach to be replaced? Hot Seat Candidates: Deibler, Pikiell, Altman (retire) , Cronin.

Nebraska is well coached and with Frager still on board, and 2 4* as of now for next year and with transfers will be coming in, they will stay middle tier at worst each year.

The NIL makes it possible, the portal makes it possible, where in the past playing for Nebraska made it impossible as most kids I don't think ever would have thought about it.

Top 25 games today

Arizona vs BYU could be UGLY....Arizona is favored 11.5 at home....last 2 games losses, BYU without Saunders, 11.5 seems way to low. Bet the over on that one, it could be 20+ easy.

ILLINI vs the Trojan's, I hope they come to play the earlier the play hard, the better....9.5 seems like a lot on the road....LOL

UCONN vs Creighton...favored 15.5....last time they won by 27....easy cover here also imo.

Arkansas vs Bama....at home Bama favored 4.5, Arkansas wins this one, take the 4.5.

Kansas vs Okie St...-6.5 favored on the road, over/under 158.5....bet the under as Okie St should not get their average.

Virginia vs GT - -13.5 Virginia way....don't think they cover, also don't know if they can get to 148.5 either combined.

St Johns vs Quette...this is the easiest outside of AZ imo, -8.5 on the road against a really bad team....this is easy a 15+ win.

Vandy vs Mizery...Toss up game -3.5 Vandy way....stay away....LOL

Zags vs San Fran - Zags win by -15.5 + and cover AS LONG as they don't have to shoot to many Free Throws....they are terrible at the line.

LOL vs wtf

AI...

Yes, the Minnesota Golden Gophers used a zone defense against UCLA in their game today (February 28, 2026).The Gophers won the matchup 78-73 at Williams Arena. Reports from the game highlight their use of zone defense, including adjustments late in the contest—such as playing higher in the zone with stronger backside help and drops—which helped them force misses and secure the victory. For instance, they tweaked the zone in the final minutes, limiting UCLA's shots effectively.Pre-game previews also noted Minnesota's frequent reliance on zone this season due to their rotation and defensive style, and it was a key factor discussed in how they'd match up against UCLA's shooters and penetration. Post-game accounts confirm it was part of their defensive effort, contributing to holding UCLA to 73 points despite the Bruins' strong first half.

I disagree. Wisconsin has been playing very well, Purdue is reeling, and now we would have to beat Michigan just to get to the title game. Actually as long as we end up with a 2 seed not in Duke’s bracket I don’t care that much. I really don’t think playing 3 games in 3 days then shipping off for a game in 4 days is good for TOTTM

I prefer seeing a healthy Wagler come NCAA tourney time....don't think the "bodying" him up so much will be allowed. I think this kid and Mirk will feast at the foul line. Come tourney time, the calls get tighter, (it's one of the reasons-a B1G team doesn't do anything annually). I think this year sets up pretty nice in that regard for us. I wouldn't be surprised to see some 11-12, 13-15 kind of free throw games from one or either of them.

I agree.  Gives us the revenge tour.  Wisconsin would never have beaten us with our 8 man rotation.  Plus, we're motivated against them.  Juwan had something right in wanting to take that swing.   Another loss to scUM doesn't hurt our seeding and who knows, with a win.

It doesn't matter who you DIDN'T play come March-April it's who you did............they didn't play anyone that SHOULD be in the dance other than who wins that conference tourney.

Miami of Ohio SOS - 344th out of 365 teams, VS consideration of a 9-10-11 team from the B1G who played a SOS of 50-and NW was at 29?

That speaks to getting left out, glad they had the season they had but................they only had 3 other teams even above 500 in conference and 5 teams total above 500 in conference for the season.

Quote
Three months after he started trying to assemble a non-league schedule that would challenge his battle-tested roster, Miami (Ohio) associate head coach Jonathan Holmes recognized that the RedHawks had a problem.

No one wanted to play a sneaky-good mid-major that won 25 games the previous season and retained six of its top nine players.

Holmes spread word last spring that Miami was willing to travel to two or more power-conference opponents with no expectation of a future return game in Oxford. Coaches who responded to Holmes’ messages told him they wanted only marquee matchups against top-tier opponents or low-risk games against small-conference pushovers ranked 275th or worse.

The feedback was similar when Holmes lowered his sights and began targeting elite teams from the Atlantic 10, Mountain West and other top mid-major leagues. Some coaches saw no benefit in scheduling Miami. Others didn’t have open dates available. The few who initially expressed interest got cold feet when Holmes sent contracts for them to sign.

The mid majors are all getting robbed of their talent year after year with big money and no rules around transfers. This is a collection of decent dudes who stuck around and had a crazy good season. Absolutely insane to not reward that.

And what’s the NCAA tourney without solid mid majors that can pull an upset? The tournaments have been super chalky the last couple years because all the talent has been raided from the lower level teams. I really don’t want to turn the TOTTM into the top 12 teams from each of the top 4 conferences then some auto bids. IU had lots of chances to not be on the bubble. Fuck em, do better next year. Maybe try beating 14-15 Northwestern when you have to in order to punch a ticket.

“Go join another conference” lol. It’s not that easy. What conference wants them? Certainly no P4 conference. They’ve been good (in the MAC) for what, 2 years? That doesn’t parlay itself into a big time conference invite when you don’t bring anything else to the table.

Once upon a time, Travis Steele was the AAU coach for Eric Gordon.

Gordon was a high-profile recruit from Indiana committed to Illinois.

IU fired their HC Mike Davis and brought in Kelvin Sampson in part to pry Gordon away from UI.

Sampson hired Steele as a video coordinator specifically to aid in the recruitment of Gordon.
