Title: The U.S. Open: Oakmont
Post by: Reacher on June 12, 2025, 04:49:21 AM
The toughest tournament in the world at the toughest course they play. If you like seeing the world’s best players suffer, this is your week.

I thought Rory would go on a tear after The Masters, turns out he’s had motivation issues since then and been terrible. Coming off one of the worst rounds of his career to miss the cut last week in a field where he was clearly the best player.

Personally, if Scottie is on his game at all (and he almost always is) I don’t see anyone beating him.

Didn't they take away Rory's driver after The  Msster? Isn't that the issue?

It’s part of the issue, his driver tested hot. But so did Scottie Scheffler’s as I understand it and that didn’t get the media coverage that Rory did, it’s not uncommon at all. It literally happens as equipment begins to wear down.

The bigger concern for me is that Rory has talked about how hard it is to get motivated to practice since he won The Masters. His iron player has also been spotty at best since his win.

He should assault a cop or something.

He should assault a cop or something.
Maybe he can find a local Flag Day/U.S. Army 250th birthday party celebration on Saturday. There will be police presence.
But then again, foreign countries don't appear to be on the side of the protesters.

Rory shoots -2 on the front, +6 on the back. Ludvig about the same. LIV scum and known cheater Patrick Reed records 4th ever double eagle from 286 out. Shane Lowry, expected by many to do well shoots 9 over.

They are golfers. Aren't they all cheaters one way or another?

I have not heard about golfers shooting women in the vagina. But, keep flailing. You are good at it!

No, but Scottie Scheffler should have had a long prison sentence because he made a right turn into a golf course! IIRC they should throw away the key!

He ran over a cop! Either gets you paid by the cops or sent to GITMO. Depends on your politics.

I think it’s more likely the cop threw himself at the car. It’s pretty obvious the police report was greatly exaggerated.

Tempo hates cops since he was busted without his insurance papers.

Granted, I’ve never heard of this guy, but he was good enough to qualify for the U.S. Open. This is the front 9 he’s having. I’m thinking the course might be playing tough.

Damn. Looks like the back nine my first time out this spring.

The US Open is meant to be tough. Why are you bullying the guy in last place by 6 strokes ?

Poor George had a tough time today too. He's at 35 over.

Illini product Thomas Detry sitting among the leaders after two rounds. I put him in a couple of my DFS lineups but didn't load up on him as he almost always burns me.

Not sure how he did on the back nine (I have an idea), but George made a double on 8 (the hole he was on when I shared his scorecard).

I think they've got it a little too tricked up. The world's top 10 players are a combined 40 over after two rounds.

The rough shouldn't be as thick as it is. Even with more manageable rough those greens are so fast and have so much undulation (Augusta pales in comparison), the approach shot would still be a challenge.

Yep. There have been plenty of shots that have turned out bad when the ball stops rolling.
It's similar to the officials controlling the outcome of the game rather than the players.

Holy shit hit the ball in the short grass, what a concept! Everyone was bitching about bomb and gouge a while back and now we are bitching about guys being penalized for missing the fairway. There’s no victim tempo won’t side with.

And if the rough were a little bit shorter it would provide for and encourage riskier approach shots. With those greens and that speed, only the best shots would hold. If this place had any wind this week the winning score would be +13.

Yeah, but you want a test that’s tough but fair. This course is borderline unfair.

Why is it unfair? Everyone playing the same course. There is no rule that the winner has to be -13 or whatever.  Best man wins!

There’s more than one way to make a course difficult.
