Illini -5.5 spread
Ohio St 3-2 last 5 on an uptick
ILLINI 2-3 last 5 going the other way.
Right the ship today, contain Thorton, especially late, and maybe just maybe stay in the Top 25. If we do it will be mostly due to NET/SOS rankings though.

DGL is starting in place of Humrichous in the pre-game stats.
Ivisic in and so is Morez
-
4 points, three turnovers in the first 3 minutes.
-
The change in the starting line-up did do much. Lol
-
A game of runs…the diarrhea kind
-
That dude from OSU just two handed it in the general direction of the backboard and it went in.
Devin Royal a career 19% three point shooter has made as many threes as our entire team today.
-
We are getting Royally F*c*ed right now.
Not sure we have a player that can keep up with this kid, he has both inside/outside game and ability to drive. To big for White overall, too fast for Humrichous.
Like DGL starting, he deserves it.
KJ is still turning the ball over without pressure in some cases...has to tighten this up.
Rez is a stud for us, this kid is so much better than advertised. He should be starting from here on out. NO EXCEPTIONS imo.
Push the ball more when able too and get to the basket, they only have 1 inside player, and he was in foul trouble, we didn't capitalized though.
-
And we have a huge Tre White problem. He's been unplayable since the PSU game.

He's been getting rebounds. Not today, yet.
-
Blowing wide open lay ups. Yeah we're cooked.

Any one know if Riley has been growing lately? I wonder if he's added an inch or two recently.

17 of 24 from 2 this half and up 9. 🤷

High efficiency

There's still 31 seconds left and we have to inbound the ball 😬
-
High efficiency
tOSU had a 40% fg defense coming in
-
Riley was definately our Royal in the 2nd half for sure!!!
Well done kid.
Imagine scoring in the paint, and getting 2 points vs missing 30 3'pters?
Who knew that could be successful?
-
Phew. We needed that.
Next up is at Rutgers Wed night
-
Almost 50/50 pt distribution starters vs bench players today...probably need to keep that and this gameplan moving forward.
We have an inside-out game that will be hard to match offensively by most teams along with our rebounding, there is really no reason to rely so heavily on 3's unless we are absolutely HOT in some games.

Outscored OSU 46-27 after I made this post.
If this wasn't a must win, it was pretty damn close to one. Riley and Morez saved the day.

Shew
Brought my new cooker home from Knoxville last night and went out and started piddling with that once we got down 11 since it’s 65 degrees here today. Put it on the radio and we turned the corner. You’re welcome.

Nice of brad to finally realize that jacking shit tons of 3s isnt going to work every night

Our three-point shooting seems to be all or nothing. It’s kind of a double edge sword on three-point shooting because you can bury a team so quickly when we’re hitting and we got the guys that can do it. The problem is is that they all seem to be on fire on the same night and all cold on the other nights. So at least maybe going forward when shots aren’t falling like this game we can transition to a different approach in the second half. We’ve been running into this here a bunch lately and the response has been to just continue jacking threes and hoping that all of a sudden we’ll catch fire and that hasn’t really ever seemed to be the case. It’s really an interesting dichotomy, and it probably does make it tougher from a strategy standpoint for the coaching staff.

I think at this point it is safe to say this is a below average 3 Pt shooting team at best. We do have 4 guys (KJ,Boswell,DGL, Riley) who appear to be able to create their own shot and/or penetrate to some degree.
This isn't rocket science. KJ especially is like a fcking Matrix character and all arms and elbows in the lane and a foul drawing machine.
Staff need to adjust.
