The press conference at the Combine just reminded me why I thought he sucked from the start.
-
Missed it. Thank god the Illini are decent at basketball or I’d be going insane this winter. No skating no sledding no ice fishing and the Bears seeming death spiral
-
The discussion today by Mully and Haugh was the Bear signing Andy Dalton, whom they described as "The Mendoza Line of Quarterbacks." I guess that is true. I am not sure what to think of Andy Dalton as a Bear.....

won't make a lick of difference. Bears picked the wrong guy when they had their shot. They will be mediocre to garbage for another decade until they get a chance again and probably fail like they ALWAYS do

Now that is a strong take. Where is Spark to take issue?!

I expect the Bears to be real late-season contenders for a playoff spot at the very very minimum. If they're not they will and obviously should move on - coach, GM, QB.

Definitely a Behind the Curve take that will wind up in flames when it comes time for MiniDitka's artist rending. Tempo and I will be in the car that is AOTC yelling, "Eat our dust, Spark!"

If only Lovie had as much paaayshion as you do in your index finger

Jimmy Graham???? Are you kidding me? Where is Spark!!!?????
-
Brittle Nick Foles and the Arrogant Matt Nagy together! What can go wrong?
-
Get this out of the way early....Trubisky sucks!!!!!!!!!! And Tempo was right!
-
I'd wager Trubs will be benched by game 3
-
If I were Nagy I’d call like 12-15 plays in a row that I know Mitch can’t execute. Then everyone will be completely over him and it’d force Pace to move on and actually give me something to work with.

woo hoo

Still can’t believe the Bears are 3-0.
Maybe they’ll be like the 2002 Ohio State team that struggled week in and week out but through lucky bounces/breaks/minor miracles/timely bad officiating, still won the Natty.

9-7
-
There are a lot of people who owe Tempo an apology.
-
Did the bears play a good team this week or something?
-
This format is very user unfriendly on my iPhone. Matt Nagy, worst offensive genius ever.
-
The Bears are a low end playoff team. That’s probably their ceiling.

Can you share a screenshot of your iPhone screen? Glad to see you back!

We were AOTC on this one, Tempo!

Like how the fuck do you draft a QB and not give him a good O-Line to work behind... I blame the idiot management and well they hired "genius" Nagy too
don't remember who else was available at the time to coach but he seemed like a decent pick I guess?

Bitch, bitch, bitch. lol.
The Vikings signed Cousins for $84 million and didn't give him an offensive line either.
You win in the trenches is so old school.

Andy Reid had removed his play-calling duties as OC....

The Vikes have won what, one or two games? The Rams dominated the Bears in the trenches much the same way Wisconsin dominated the Illini in the trenches.

I think he was being sarcastic

Yep.
Sarcasm.
And there are rumblings about the end of the road for Zimmer and Spielman.
-
There are a lot of people who owe Tempo an apology.
For what? For saying Nagy sucks, or for the Khalil Mack garbage?
I’ll give him credit for the first one, although I was always kind of on board with that one anyway, so no apology needed.
But the Khalil Mack move was unquestionably the right move at the time, and I will go to my grave defending that.

Tempo was right on both counts.

Tempo still owed apologies.

Covid: Not as bad as watching the Bears
-
I don't normally care too much for Aikman but credit to him for shitting on Nagy's awful play calling all game.
-
I liked it when he shat on the flyovers.
-
I don't normally care too much for Aikman but credit to him for shitting on Nagy's awful play calling all game.
He went to great lengths to criticize the Bears even as they rallied to tie the game. I don’t know that I have ever seen a situation where a 5-2 team was so maligned not just by their own fans but the entire league.

It's looking more and more apparent that Vic Fangio was the real coach of the year in 2018.
-
I need more time to evaluate Nagy

Vic's not a head coach. He should have stayed at DC. And you can have him back and take Elway with him. 8)

Totally agree. Vic can't find his watch either. He's cost the Doncs in games last year and this year.
-
I need more time to evaluate Nagy
You need more time ? Or does Nagy need a few more years before you're willing to go out on a limb ? lol
-
He wants Nagy here forever kinda like how I felt about John Cooper at Ohio State or Mike Davis at IU.
-
Tempo was AOTC on Nagy. He's awful. Has still not figured out how to do just the simple, basic things required of him.
-

I’ll take Vic back. Hard pass on Elway.

Can't believe you forgot to thank Tempo for his military service when responding given today is Veterans Day.

Nagy is giving up play calling duties for this week’s game. About fucking time!

So what is he now an honorary figurehead? Who is in charge of clock management?

Zook?
That actually crossed my mind but Zook was at least kinda cool in a way
-

Bu-bu-bu-but I thought Nagy was a genius.
-
Did someone actually say Matt Nagy was an offensive genius?
-
I am ready for Pace to hit the road he hasn’t drafted well or assembled a balanced roster and Nagy wasn’t even the main play caller at KC he was all smoke and mirrors from the get go Mitch bailed him out with his legs and Vic bailed him out with his defense in 2018 and it’s just getting worse from there
-
So what is he now an honorary figurehead? Who is in charge of clock management?
Nagy sucks at clock management too, so let’s hope he hands that off.

If the Bears lose tomorrow, I think Pace and Nagy both have their fates sealed.
Word is that the Vikings O-line may have a COVID outbreak. Sucks for them if true, but it could help the Bears.
-
I rather expect the Vikes to beat the Bear like a drum although it feels like we’ve had their number lately
-
I’ll take Vic back. Hard pass on Elway.
Well it seems that Vic will be available sooner rather than later. Not only can't he tell time, he can't count to 11 either...or make obvious decisions on whether to accept penalties or not.
-
good start
-
Bring back John Shoop!
-
Mack flattens Cousins on the interception return, only way he gets any pressure on the quarterback
-
I’m truly not sure how an NFL employee gets out of bed and says “ for tonight’s game plan, let’s give Cordarelle Patterson 12-15 touches...”
-
Looks as tho there was more than 1 morning involved.
"Patterson told reporters earlier this week that he would be the next man up if Montgomery couldn’t play, which certainly looks to be the case."
-
Yeah Montgomery was out. Still not sure why they ever run with Patterson he doesn’t have RB instincts and the wildcat with him is brutal.
-
That leads me to my next question...
How does an NFL team get to a point in which when the entire league uses 3 or even 4 man committees at RB, the best they have to put on the field is Cordarelle Patterson as a starting RB?
I mean FFS, the Chargers and Dolphins signed guys off the street the last 2 weeks that put up respectable numbers as starters
-
So without the kickoff return the Bears got 6 points
NIce
-

Welcome to Bears football since, well..forever.
-
The 2-7 Dallas Cowboys offense with a backup QB put up 31 pts and 376 total yards on the
85 Bears Vikings defense - the same defense that the Nagy/Lazor led offense couldn't score a single offensive TD against while only mustering 150 yards of total offense.
Is Matt Nagy the biggest clown in the NFL not named Adam Gase?
-
It certainly appears Nagy isn’t good. But we knew going in that the O line was going to be a huge problem. That puts a ton of pressure on any quarterback, but especially a guy like Foles.
Factor in the loss of Coen as your dump off option and your primary back in Montgomery and I’m not sure how much anyone can reasonably expect from the veritable practice squad the Bears offense is trotting out there every Sunday.
One thing my razor sharp pattern recognition skills have told is that the coaches with really good offenses tend to have really good playmakers. So I put most of the blame on the front office for building a complete shit sandwich of an offense. That said, also quite sure Nagy is in well over his head.
-
I'm even stunned by the complete incompetence at the end of that game.

If this were most other franchises, I'd struggle to see how Nagy remains employed after tomorrow.
But this is the Bears so...

Can I change this to “last-place in the NFC North?”
-

I think and hope this is the case, but the uncertainty of what the NFL looks like next year gives me pause.
-
Jobs with decent QBs are already open. Why the hell would anyone legit take the Chicago job this year?
-
I don’t think Nagy will be gone before the end of the year. I care less about who the new coach will be than I do about who the new GM will be. Hopefully one who doesn’t treat the OL as an afterthought.
-
Nagy is going to be fired. The defense quit a few weeks ago and the offense is trash in every way, obviously. Pagano is a friggen joke. It's likely they won't win again. Jacksonville is playing better than the Bears by a bunch right now. You can't keep a coach who starts 5-1 and loses 10 straight or 9 of 10 to end the season, especially an offensive coach who has had a bottom five offense for two years in a row.
Pace will hopefully be fired as well. He's good at drafting in the middle rounds, made some good signings, but the Trubisky and Nagy selections, along with some terrible contract decisions, should bury him.
-
Good to see you!

My guess is both are gone, but I’d rate Nagy’s chances of surviving as better than Pace’s.

I don't think there's any way they bring in a new GM and saddle him with Nagy. I think Nagy is verging on Trestman territory right now. Only way is if they are planning to really tank. They should clear everyone- out for a regime change and total rebuild.
Lots of smoke about Ted Phillips retiring this morning.
-
i still cant believe they ran it
-
I can’t believe he didn’t pick up the first down on 3rd, complete mental lapse

I've heard the owners love Pace which makes me nervous. He shouldn't hire the next coach, or make the next draft picks.
-
The issue is that if they fire Nagy they are in a bind with Pace. He's only got one year left on his deal. And so they'd either have to extend him or severely limit the pool of potential head coaches to those willing to work for a guy who would likely be gone the next year barring a significant turn around. It will be really tough to keep Nagy even if they want to as the defense has pretty much quit and the fan base is completely fed up with his ineptitude. That said the Bears ownership has done dumber shit.
-

Maybe you can convince Whitman and Virginia McCaskey to start listening to Tempo.
-
i still cant believe they ran it
Pass when they should have run it
Run when they should have passed
What was Legends favorite thing to say about John Groce? "Low thinker" was it? I'd say that accurately describes Nagy.
-
Idk if that was the call was the worst play in the world. You should always be able to pick up a yard when you need it, especially against the Lions.
They may have been better off to hurry to the line and run a sneak with Mitch and Monty pushing him forward.
They may have been better off throwing a short pass but throwing on 4th and short just leaves so many things to go wrong.
The mental lapse on 3rd to leave the 4th and 1 was the real killer. Actually no the real killer was scoring 30 points and fucking losing.

Saw a fascinating stat....Leonard Floyd has more sacks than Khalil Mack and Robert Quinn combined
-
Saw a fascinating stat....Leonard Floyd has more sacks than Khalil Mack and Robert Quinn combined
Saw on Twitter that Quinn has a total of 7 pressures this year. That’s not a misprint.
Floyd had 26 last year.
Quinn pulled one helluva sucker job on Ryan Pace. He’s laughing his ass all the way to the bank.
-
This is no defense of Pace or anyone else but I imagine one of the toughest jobs for any GM is knowing how players are going to respond to “getting paid”
Floyd plays like he has a chip on his shoulder. Quinn plays like a guy who has secured generational wealth and is trying not to get hurt.

-
I brought it up before but the Bears are in a bad spot. Lots of teams looking for coaches this cycle and several of them would seem to be more attractive jobs than Chicago. The one exception would be Fitz who may not be on many others teams’ radars. And what coach would want to come under a lame duck GM situation anyways? The first piece to fall has to be Pace.

I hate this visor wearing fuck. Start Fields, asshole! The O line is terrible. Andy Dalton won't make it through the 1st game anyway.
-
I have a feeling the Bears are going to get embarrassed by the Rams on Sunday night. At least 6 games would have been better choices for the first Sunday night game of the year.

Sad part is the offense can still play even worse than it did today.

Did we watch the same game? I thought the team played pretty well. Oh wait -- I was rooting for the Browns. Nevermind, lol.

Worse than their worst offensive production since like 1970? I meanC I guess they weren’t turning it over.

It’s over for Nagy. But the cherry on top would be a loss to Detroit on Thanksgiving. Pace needs to go too, or you’re only removing half of the cancer.

Bears have now had 10 points or fewer at halftime in 36 of 60 games Matt Nagy has coached (playoffs included).

Yes. Wasn't he also from one of the years that the Bear traded away their picks for Mack?

I like the pickup. Definitely willing to take a low risk chance on young talented players.

Pretty sure he’s only a 2nd year player.

Tempo, Michael Lombardi ripped the Bear for picking up Leatherhead. Appears they are stuck with the contract guarantees the Raiders made? Seems odd, but that is what I got from Lombardi's rant on his podcast.
