GAMBLING! Per VSin:
DK started Illini +3! Now down to Illini +1, PK(!), and +1.5! Hmmmm. Bet Michigan.
O/U started at 42. Now at 43.5! (I read on some website some dude claiming he had heard before the Illini/Purdue game that it was fixed and was told to take Purdue and the over!)
Stolen, of course, from FightingIllini.com (except bolded and parentheticals).
The Illinois football team is ranked #22 in this week's AP Top 25 and #21 in the Coaches Poll. The Fighting Illini are off to a 5-1 start and have been ranked for five consecutive weeks.
Saturday's sold out showdown against #24 Michigan will be the first AP Top 25 ranked vs. ranked game at Memorial Stadium since 2000. It will be the 24th ranked vs. ranked matchup in the history of Memorial Stadium, which will celebrate its 100th anniversary this weekend. [What an indictment of this program.]
The game against Michigan will take place 100 years and one day after Red Grange's historic performance in the Memorial Stadium Dedication Game. The Dedication Game famously occurred against Michigan on Oct. 18, 1924, when Grange gained national headlines after scoring four touchdowns in the first 12 minutes to take down the previously undefeated Wolverines.
Illinois has announced detailed plans for the Rededication weekend, set for Thursday, Oct. 17-Saturday, Oct. 19. To view the complete schedule of Memorial Stadium Rededication plans, click here.

Big Ten Network will broadcast its B1G Tailgate show live from Grange Grove on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. CT prior to the #22 Fighting Illini hosting #24 Michigan for the Memorial Stadium Rededication Game (2:30 p.m. CT on CBS). CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – No. 22 Illinois will host No. 24 Michigan on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CT for the Memorial Stadium Rededication Game. The contest between two ranked foes comes 100 years and one day after Memorial Stadium's initial dedication and Red Grange's historic six-touchdown performance against the Wolverines. Saturday's game will air nationally on CBS.
The Fighting Illini sit at 5-1 overall and 2-1 in Big Ten play following a 50-49 overtime victory over Purdue last week. The win marked the program's first home triumph over the Boilermakers since 2010 as the Orange and Blue brought The Cannon back to Champaign for the first time since 2019.
The win saw the Illini improve to 5-1 for the second time under fourth-year head coach Bret Bielema, who became the third coach in Illinois history to have at least five wins in each of his first four seasons in Champaign (John Mackovic, 1988-91; Lou Tepper, 1992-95). [Midget, Taller.]
The Wolverines visit Champaign for the first time since 2019 and hold a 4-2 overall mark and a 2-1 record in conference play this season. Michigan took its first of two bye weeks last week after falling on the road to Washington, 27-17, on Oct. 5.
Saturday's sold-out meeting between the No. 22 Fighting Illini and the No. 24 Wolverines will be the first AP Top 25 ranked vs. ranked game at Memorial Stadium since 2000. [Indictment of the program.] It will be the 24th ranked vs. ranked matchup in the history of Memorial Stadium, which will celebrate its 100th anniversary this weekend.
Brad Nessler (play-by-play), Gary Danielson (analyst), and Jenny Dell (sideline) have the call on CBS.
Illinois will don 1920s-themed uniforms on Saturday, with the helmets, jerseys, and pants all designed to mirror the attire worn by Red Grange and the Fighting Illini football teams that represented the university during the early years of the program's existence.
Other game day features include a special pregame presentation of the game ball by some of Illinois' most legendary players, a flyover conducted by the United States Navy, all former football players in attendance being honored at halftime, and a halftime performance by the Marching Illini involving family members of Illinois' athletic architects from the early years – Athletic Director George Huff, Head Football Coach Robert Zuppke and Red Grange.
Saturday's game program will be a recreation of the original 1924 game program artwork. Game programs are available for free in the east and west halls of Memorial Stadium (limit 1 per fan).
Giveaway: The first 10,000 fans inside Memorial Stadium will receive a free rally towel sponsored by Toyota.
Air Raid Siren: New for 2024, an Illini celebrity will sound the Illini air raid siren right before kickoff to get the crowd pumped up for the Fighting Illini football team. This week's sounder is Fighting Illini legend Howard Griffith, who set the NCAA record with 8 touchdowns at Memorial Stadium.
The Michigan game will be Illinois' second sellout of the season after the Illini beat #19 Kansas in front of a capacity crowd of 60,670 on Sept. 7. Illinois has sold out two games in a single season for the first time since 2009. [Adding to the indictment of the program.]
Saturday will be the first AP Top 25 ranked vs. ranked game at Memorial Stadium since Sept. 23, 2000. The 24 years between ranked vs. ranked games is the longest gap between ranked vs. ranked games in Memorial Stadium history.
Memorial Stadium has hosted 23 AP Top 25 ranked vs. ranked games during its 100-year history. The Illini have gone 11-11-1 in their 23 ranked vs. ranked games at home.
Memorial Stadium's last three AP Top 25 ranked vs. ranked games have been against Michigan (1991, 1995, 2000).
Illinois has not won a ranked vs. ranked game at Memorial Stadium since #20 Illinois beat #11 Ohio State, 10-7, Oct. 12, 1991.
Illinois is 3-5 against Michigan in ranked vs. ranked games at Memorial Stadium. [Bet Michigan.]
Bret Bielema has improved to 23-20 during his Illinois career. Since Robert Zuppke went undefeated in two of his first three seasons at Illinois from 1913-15, Bielema's 23-20 start is the third-best through 43 games by an Illini head coach, behind only Mike White (1980-83) and John Mackovic (1988-91).
Bielema is 4-6 (.400) against ranked teams (AP/Coaches/CFP) as Illinois' head coach. His .400 winning percentage against ranked teams is the best since John Mackovic (8-8, .500, 1988-91).
Bielema's four ranked wins (AP/Coaches/CFP) during his first four seasons are tied for the third-most in program history, behind only John Mackovic (8, 1988-91) and Mike White (5, 1980-83).
Bielema tied the program record for road ranked wins (AP/Coaches/CFP) during his first four seasons. He is the second coach in Illinois history to win three ranked games on the road during his first three seasons, joining Lou Tepper (1992-96).
Bielema is the first Illini coach to earn Top 25 rankings in two of his first four seasons since Ron Zook led the Illini into the top-25 rankings in 2007 and 2008, his Years 3 and 4 in Champaign, respectively. Illinois reached as high as #14 and were ranked for five consecutive weeks in October and November 2022 under Bielema.
Bielema joined John Mackovic (1988-91) and Lou Tepper (1992-95) as the only head coaches in Illinois history to win 5+ games in each of their first four seasons leading the Fighting Illini.
Saturday is the 98th meeting between Illinois and Michigan. The two teams first met in 1898.
Michigan leads the series 72-23-2 overall, including 35-12-1 in Champaign.
Illinois hosts Michigan at Memorial Stadium for the first time since Oct. 12, 2019, a 42-25 Wolverines win.
Illinois is 2-8 in its last 10 games against Michigan with wins in 2008 (in Ann Arbor) and 2009 (in Champaign).
Illinois is 10-44-2 all-time against ranked Michigan teams, including a 6-23-1 record against ranked Michigan teams in Champaign. Illinois is 0-10-1 in 11 such games since beating #8 Michigan in Champaign, 16-6, on 10/29/83. [How fucking abysmal.]
Illinois is 4-10 all-time when a ranked Illini team faces Michigan, and 3-9 when both teams are ranked in the top 25 entering the matchup. Ranked Illinois teams have lost six straight games to ranked U-M squads (including four such games at Memorial Stadium) since #9 Illinois defeated #8 Michigan, 16-6, on 10/29/83 in Champaign.
Illinois is 2-2 all-time when ranked ahead of the Michigan in ranked-ranked matchups, with both wins coming at Memorial Stadium in 1951 and 1953: #12 Illinois at #13 Michigan (L, 28-14) 10/31/42; #3 Illinois vs. #15 Michigan (W, 7-0) 11/3/51; #4 Illinois vs. #17 Michigan (W, 19-3) 11/7/53; and #17 Illinois at #19 Michigan (L, 22-17) 11/10/90.
In the last meeting between Illinois and Michigan, #3 U-M escaped with a 19-17 home win after hitting three fourth-quarter field goals, including the game-winner with 9 seconds left on a drive that was extended on a fourth-down conversion despite a controversial no call. Chase Brown recorded 140 rushing yards and two touchdowns for Illinois.
Illinois and Michigan met for the Memorial Stadium dedication game in 1924, when Red Grange scored four touchdowns in the first 12 minutes to help Illinois beat Michigan 39-14. Grange accounted for six touchdowns in what remains the single greatest performance in Memorial Stadium history. To celebrate the 1924 game, Red Grange's wife, Mrs. Margaret Grange, attended the Fighting Illini's 1994 game against Michigan to help dedicate the Grange Rock, which sits at the north end of Zuppke Field, as a tribute to her husband.
The 2010 meeting in Ann Arbor was an instant classic, with the Wolverines winning a triple-overtime thriller 67-65. Illinois' 65 points in 2010 are the most any team has ever scored against Michigan. The previous high was 58 points by Cornell in 1891, while the previous high by a Big Ten team was 55 by Northwestern in 1958. RB Mikel Leshoure scored five touchdowns, equaling the second-most in a single game in Illinois history.

This Illini team is good and legit. I know Michigan is not exactly Michigan, but this was a big program building win today…
-
At least one first down on that drive would have been nice.
-
Now I see why Michigan is run heavy. Tuttle is complete ass.
-
Need to find my old Muck Fichigan shirt from my student days

After all the angst about the national playoffs - it’s could be a pretty big shit show if there are four one loss teams for one slot in the big ten championship
18 teams is bullshit

Yeah i heard they haven't beat anyone in the top 130 until todays ass whoopin of the huskers
-
Tempo can’t bring himself to get invested in Illinois football, which is the best it’s been in a few decades, but will gladly invest thousands of hours arguing about a team that loses on purpose
-
Gabe Jacas was a man today.
-
Well that was a lot of fun. Michigan is going to wind up 7-5 but never take beating them for granted and after last week nothing should've been taken for granted anyway. Ditto any season where we get to speculate about which bowl we'll wind up in. Citrus Bowl would be awesome.

Playoffs!? PLAYOFFS?

Too bad Indiana isn’t on the schedule this year. Are they as good as their record says they are?

Playoffs!? PLAYOFFS?
Until reality slaps me in the face, I’m assuming we have a shot at beating Oregon!
