Predictions...LOL

Conference schedule set. Both LA teams coming to Champaign. Prepare for the return of Skyy Clark, assuming he doesn’t take his ball and go home before then.
Only play IU once and it’s at their house. No Goode return.

Bama in Birmingham in December. Return game at the United Center the following season.

We’re not fucking around. And finally a UC game that’s gonna be worth a shit.

Let's hope one or both teams aren't shit. I've sat though enough shitty Illini teams at the UC.

Brutal schedule with a whole new team, several of whom have never played a lick of college ball. Should be something to behold. Still think we need another dude.

Looking at a stud 5-star right now to reclassify…
-
I saw that but how often are reclassified kids contributors let alone stars as freshmen? I hope we get him but it’s hard for me to feel warm and fuzzy right now
-
Trying to play Arkansas on Thanksgiving.
This schedule !!!!!!

He is the normal age for an incoming freshman. He had evidently planned on attending 5th year of high school in Canada.

hope we're good in 2028 - I'll be there baby
don't give a flying fuck about womens hoops, why do they keep including it in information about mens hoops I'll never know
-
The wokesters really really really want someone, anyone, to give a flying fuck about women’s basketball. Especially post Caitlin Clark.

Traveling to Ole Miss for an exhibition matchup.
Another chapter in the Chris Beard story

Underwood thinks Ole Miss will have a good defense to test his offense. Last year wasn't so great for them, but considering their coach, they should be better.

The complete non-conference slate

Lots of SEC squads !!!!!!

Could be a pretty rough stretch, but lots of opportunities

Conference Scheduling Predictions:
Teams Illinois plays twice (home and away): Michigan State, Northwestern, Wisconsin. (4-2) ?
Teams Illinois plays only at home: Iowa, Maryland, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue, UCLA, USC. (6-1) ?
Teams Illinois plays only once on the road: Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Oregon, Rutgers, Washington. (4-3) ?
Overall Record in Conference this year = 14-6?

I'd take this.
-
Yeah I think 14-6 would be a really good result returning like 14% of our production from last season.
-
I think what we have going for us, is that BU is so used to this from early days at JUCO. Always you have big turnovers, different reasons maybe, but huge turnover.
20 years of constant turnover with an overall record of 132-85 608% bodes well for us now and moving forward. BU has proven he can adapt/win/restock/win again.....5 new players or 12 new players every year who cares. ILLINI are prominent again finally!!!
-
Secret scrimmage vs Butler on Sunday. Maybe not so secret now since it’s on the Twitter.

9-3 non conference with an all new team. Good to see DGL and Rez play well yesterday.
With Non conference done, B1G coming up, 23-9 record with a 5 seed/Sweet 16-Elite Eight run again? Back to Back would certainly help future recruiting and NIL $$$ to play with.
-
With Non conference done,
Not so fast, Chief. We've got a Feb game vs Dook at MSG.
-
We also have gone 8-2 outside the conference.

ahhhh, so right, my bad, forgot about the Dookies. Also correct I threw the NW game in there.
-
We shoot our 3pt% over 40 and commit less than 10 turnovers...we win the game vs Oregon on the road. Problem is it is on the road, and Oregon beat Alabama, we lost to them. Might be the kind of game that sets the tone for the rest of the year though. B1G is going to be brutal this year.
-
I think we will probably be more like 12-8 with a couple huge wins and some big letdowns. But wouldn’t surprise me if we were 14-6 and pushing for the league title. Don’t think we win at Oregon. When is the last time we shot 40% from 3 as a team against a major conference team? Or had fewer than 10 TOs?
-
48.4% against Arkansas with 11 T/O's that would do it, albeit that was home.

Ah yes our home court at T mobile stadium

The Redbirds only have 11 regular season games remaining.

At this point we're 1st by quite a bit in 3 pt attempts, 620 vs the #2 team with 549.
The #2 team has 3 more points on the season from 3. Lol
At this point we're #17 in 3 point percentage made.
Washington, at 10-10 and 1-8 in conference, brings up the rear.

Thanks for posting this.
It looks like MSU is below us in 3pt % and Washington a slot ahead.

We put up 32 from 3 yesterday and came in at 28% or so. We got a must have win but I don't think the staff saw your pre-game comments about shooting 3s. Lol
-
We rebound the hell out of our misses, so it does essentially change the effective rate made, and our metrics are solid. I think we just eliminate those stupid step back contested ones we take 3-5 of per game and we’ll be fine.

We usually do that for sure. A lot of ways to balance things out for good efficiency.
I think tightening this up down the stretch is important.
If one roughly equates possessions with one point, giving up 3-5 extra possessions to good teams then has to be made up for in other ways (Off Reb/Creating TO's/high FG% on 2's/high FT rate/ stopping fastbreaks/stopping second chance points/ def 3 pt eff, etc).
The opponent is trying to also gain an advantage in the same things.
We do not make the best decisions on possessions sometimes.
I will get criticized for saying this, but we are not that athletic or physical IMO. Solid athletes, and a lot of length and skills which is a plus. Well, except the mediocre overall three ball shooting.
