Title: 2024 Cubs
Post by: Reacher on April 03, 2024, 02:57:58 PM
Kris Bryant is 0-16 on the season. I thought it was absolutely the right move letting the big 3 all go a few years ago, but man, even I didn’t see them being this bad. It’s pretty sad, actually.

Baez has a .188 average and 1 RBI.

Rizzo .182 with 1 RBI. He’s been pretty mediocre the last few years and easily the best of the bunch.

Thought this thread was about the 2024 Cub. It appears to be about the 2016 Cub.

It’s a springboard for 2024 Cub discussion. And a valuable “careful what you wish for” reminder.

Since we are talking about the 2016 Cub, I still have a vendetta against Terry Francona for blowing that World Series. Fuck that guy. It would be awesome if the Cub still had not won a WS in over a century. I wish he would have had a grabber or died choking on someone else's vomit.

Also, while we are speaking about the 2016 Cub, how about how all them fans cheered for Chapman after he allegedly choked his lady friend and shot up his garage? The dudes on The Score all probably boycotted talking about the Cub games after that!

Not paying Baez and Bryant big money turned out to be the right move, although I still wish they'd kept Rizzo and I thought at the time Bryant was a mistake. Guy is damaged goods at this point I guess.

I like the moves the Cubs have made recently. On a solid run the last several games but I think still 2-3 players short from competing with the top of the class.

You never likely find a guy that has lived up to those mega deals they’re giving out now to players. It’s a terrible idea.

It's fairly clearly not worth it short of an HOF level player and a core that's still positioned to win.

If the Dodgers had lost today it would have been the biggest Yamamoto choke job since the Battle of Midway.

Bryant sucks shit big time. There's been loud booing when he comes to the plate in Denver. 2+ seasons and he's played 130 of 330 games. Boy, what a bargain he was for the Rockies. He came to the plate with the bases loaded in the 9th on Friday, down 7-6, strikes out swinging and wasn't even close to making contact on the 3 swings. Next batter hits a walk off slammer to win the game. The Rockies would be better off if he couldn't even take the field, just retire, go home and quit stealing money.

Holy shit, Bryant drove in a run tonight with a hit. But he stranded 4 in scoring position.

Now I'm wishing I stayed up and pirated the game last night.

I feel like when Bryant got hit in the head by that pitch, it fucked him up big time. Hasn't been the same since.

Neither has Conigliaro.

Neither has Conigliaro.
Tony C had a decent 1969 season, 20 HR and 82 RBI and 1970 with 36 and 116. But 1971 and beyond he was messed up.
