I’ll say it, is a bit overrated. Jalen Hurts, Russell, Lamar, and Josh Allen have all been accused on not being great at “seeing the field.” I even heard Tom Brady once say he knew where he was going with the ball before the snap (which based off of coverages I’m sure he often did).
Mac Jones is said to be an “elite processor.” How is that working for him? Sure, “seeing it,” is important for some. Joe Montana (who managed to “see” Jerry Rice a lot!), Drew Brees, Payton Manning probably “saw it better than others,” but the game is equally talent and athleticism. Lots of exceptional quarterbacks weren’t great “progressions” guys. Looking at you, Terry Bradshaw!

Kurt Warner was playing for the Iowa Barnstormers and stocking shelves at Justin’s age. Kurt Warner the evaluator would have given up on Kurt Warner the player at 24.
-
Drew Brees had a passer rating of about 72 after 3 seasons.
-
Desperation setting in since there is no market for a shit passer like Fields.
-
Maybe they could make Fields into a receiver. Might be better at catching passes than throwing them, plus he’s tall and fast. Kill two birds with one stone kinda thing.

Nah, just pointing out that “reading progressions,” is a bit overrated. And that two “progressions” GOATS Brees (shit quarterback until his 4th year) and Warner who was stocking shelves at age 27 weren’t always good.
-
LOL. The Cult is desperate! Reading progressions and passing do not matter since the Cult Leader can do neither.
-
Never said it doesn’t matter. I said it’s a bit overrated.

Like you said passing is overrated....at the QB position. But defensive game planning to force the QB into his weakness for passing is now a good thing.....
-
I never said passing was overrated either.
-
Raw yards, I might argue are a bit overrated. A bit.
-
Yes, you have said passing is overrated.
-
Not sure that’s what I said.

It takes a bit of time to learn all the defensive looks and each team, etc
Once everything becomes instinct rather than thinking about it on every play is a result of processing power.
The faster you can learn you wont end up like a slow thinker like Fields in year 3 still taking forever to do reads and progs.
-
What were Brees’ and Warner’s excuses?
-
Tom Brady was in the league 5 years before he had a QB rating higher than 87. 8 years before he had one higher than 92.6.
-
His rating hit a massive spike when he got a year of prime Randy Moss.
-
Comparing Fields to Brees and Warner. The Cult has no shame.
-
That’s not what happened.
-
Looks like the NFL places some value on being able to read defenses.
