Prime time matchup between rivals!
Hope TFSJ brings ear plugs!
Should be an interesting matchup but winnable. Can't let Boo Boo go off and keep Barnhizer to scoring very little
Rebound well, play some good D and we'll win.
Currently favored by 3.5 points

We tore that balltrap shit a new asshole in Champaign.
It seems to work against other teams pretty well.
They have an number of role guys who can get hot, but I think we may just be a bad physical matchup for them.
We should kill them on the boards.
-
TSJ will fingerblast them. Really give it to them against their will.
lol

I think they should just let the alleged victim fingerbang TSJs ass and they can call it even.
-
Nah, just not gonna post here anymore.
I don’t get the same enjoyment out of the “LOL, cuz he’s accused of rape, get it?” type humor as the rest of you.
Y’all enjoy that.

Damn, TSJ can flick my panties, he’s a fucking stud! Sorry Spark!

Fans chanting no means no to TSJ…

Need to settle down. Last few possessions have been a little too fast for us.
I am loving the effort on the glass.
-
Nicholson is getting away with those hip check screens. He should have fouled out already.
-
Frustrating…
-
They're 15-26 from 2. We're 8-23.
-
Cats shooting 53%, have turned it over only once and have killed us in the paint.
The boards are saving us. 24-13 advantage. 11-1 on the offensive glass for 9 second chance points.
We missed way too many easy looks. Credit the Cats for hitting some tough ass shots.
-
Ugly first half. Gonna need a better effort in the second. If I see Luke Goode on Buie more than once this half I may throw my phone through my TV.
-
Shannon having a tough game so far.
-
Illegal screen or not we're not doing a very good job fighting through screens.
-
My god threes are bouncing in for these fuckers.
-
Reminds me of second half of FAU game scores on every possession on both ends of floor
-
So are moving screens legal now or what?
-
Nerd means nerd
-
Flagrant?
-
Goode on Buie is defensive suicide
-
This should not be this close. We better get it together.
-
Tough beating a team when they shoot over 50% from the floor and from 3
-
Big plays. This is intense!
-
5 more minutes. What a fucking game.
-
This has been a good game.
-
Well fuck..
-
NU is 9-13 from 3 this half. Lol
-
They on 🔥 fiyyyaaaa
-
Jesus. We are outta gas. And Shannon just isn’t himself.

NU giving the Illini the stink finger

NW literally couldn’t play any better than this

Easy when you leave guys wide open in the lane.

>:(
Lame
-
Crash and burn. At this rate we'll be out of the rankings by February fighting for the coveted 8/9 seed.

Their action eviscerated us time and time again. Teaching moments!

Collins returning the favor from earlier in the month
-
A chunk of it was bad defense by our kids but it's asking a lot to go on the road and beat a team that shoots 61% from three and 55% overall. And give them a lot of credit. They hit a lot of tough shots too.
I was disappointed by the defensive execution but not with the effort. Northwestern played the best they could possibly play and still needed OT to beat us. I can live with that.

No one cares. Only B1G Titles matter.

Make one of the 14 layups we missed in regulation and we win. Oops
-
Is giving up 96 to NU a sign of good things to come in March?
-
NU scored 20 in OT.
We threw up a lot of prayers from down low.
-

Yeah that was a repeat of Maryland.
-
Guerrier with another double.
-
Our last possession in regulation sucked. Everyone knows it’s going to go through Domask. What does Domask do well? Backs players down, draws a double, and either scores or kicks. You can’t do that when you start the iso play 30’ from the basket with 9 seconds left. Ends up being a forced shot in the lane with no time for a putback.

You hit the nail on the head. I was yelling at him burning clock before getting going. There is way too much of 4 guys around the 3 line in the offense. NW guys are constantly moving on offense, none of that standing around BS.
Way too many missed shots around the rim tonight, get the offensive rebound and still couldn't convert. An abundance of fouls by NW that weren't called.
-

Fuck it. Bait taken.
Yes, a road game in January against a good team that plays out of their minds at home while our best player hasn’t practiced with the team for a month is definitely an indicator of how we’ll be playing in March.
If this type of game is an indicator of March success then the entire top 10-15 is straight garbage come tournament time.
As much as I hate to say it, Northwestern had a hell of a game plan and their guys played at an insane level for 45 minutes. And they still needed us to miss 15-18 layups to actually win the game. They did the same thing to Purdue.
-
Maybe Chicago St. should join the Big Ten. They're only the team who can win in Evanston this year.

My complaint with the final possession in regulation isn’t with the concept of the play, but rather starting it entirely too f’n late for our most effective player to do what he’s most effective at.
They were running an offensive wrinkle Collins put together to counter what we did to them 3 weeks ago.
We play a 5 out offense with some ball screen and ISO, and it works on a completely different principle than their motion did tonight. And equally as well for the first 40 minutes. Offense wasn’t our problem, it was lack of adjustment on D or the guys ability to execute the scheme adjustments that were made. Collins clowned Underwood there. And Buie just did things that he does at home. Dude is a stud.

We could trade them for Minnesota and no one would even notice. 🤷🏻♂️

Opponents look to relish going after Domask and Goode one-on-one. That is not going to go well for the Illini when it happens in March unless Underachiever figures out how to counter it.

A top 5 Kansas team gave up 91 to a West Virginia team that's a helluva lot worse than Northwestern. It's not an "Illinois only" issue.
And Purdue also gave up 92 to these guys.

Will remember this for the HQ2 NCAA Bracket Contest. Thanks.

Any reason given why Rodgers didn't play the 2d half?
-
Shitty overall game, ILLINI let one slip away, but it has been since 1956, so I guess they were due????
Hawkins-Strong Defense, Strong overall offense, Weak Mind once again, go back to not caring and quit the flailing of arms and utter disgust since you never commit a foul.
TSJ seemed to be pressing, back off the pedal and realize the team played very well overall without you. The All-American year may be over, fit in where you can get in.
Harmon, will play a HUGE role come March for us, I like the tenacity of the kid.
Guerrier, rebounded and went to the boards hard, came up empty handed a few times, offense wasn't quite there tonight.
Goode, defensive liability when not rebounding. Started strong jacked up that really bad shot, then things went south for him.
Domask, can take over at will most nights and will many more for us, last shot selection, he makes 9-10 times, but we shouldn't have been there with our rebounding domination.
I actually like the ILLINI and the missed layups in conference so far....think about it, every year the B1G teams beat the hell out of each other all year, very physical. Then the tournament starts, the play is called much closer, and most of the B1G gets knocked our early every year, mostly because they can't adapt to the difference in the way the game is called until it is too late.
This years team is hardnosed, goes hard to boards, and layups, they miss alot of those layups due to being hacked in process and no fouls called alot of the time. This changes come this years tourney and they will fare alot better...I hope.

Our asses are about to be court stormed
I think this is why DGL and Moretti were put in at the last minute. Got TSJ and Domask off the court.
-
We shot 15/35 on lay ups. I don't know. Is that good?
-
We could trade them for Minnesota and no one would even notice. 🤷🏻♂️
Correct.
-

It's not. Need to emphasize it in practice. Miken drill and suicides.
-
Correct.
Good one with the name change, I giggled.
-
I realize they were super fired up to beat our ass, but got damn Underwood.
-

Maybe they loaded up on White Castle for the pregame meal
-
Any reason given why Rodgers didn't play the 2d half?
I was wondering the same thing. He could have been hawking Buie.
-

For 3rd grade, not bad.
-

Yeah that one possession like midway thru second half where Hawk tried to tip it numerous times and maybe Domask.
Just ugly attempts. It's great to pull down an offensive board and bring it out and reset. We didn't do that.
My guess is the game plan was to attack rim and expect foul calls since we're a longer and stronger team than them. Sort of backfired. But I like our chances in the BTT when TSJ can jump again.
Sucks we lost and the last possession was frustrating that led us to OT. Not a fan of the backing guys down on that play.
Why not make a few passes and get TSJ or QG going to hoop or Hawk or Goode for an open three they were both on. Instead we go hero ball. Oh well, better get back on track soon otherwise bye bye top 25.
Sucks to lose
-
Any reason given why Rodgers didn't play the 2d half?
Maybe a couple things, but not sure. He only played 14 minutes versus Rutgers as Harmon was having a huge game and we actually needed it to win.
Maybe UW was hoping Harmon would go off again.
But I think the fact that NU was having Nicholson guard Rodgers created issues for entire scheme as Nicholson could drop way off and clog the lane and be there to help when we tried the bully ball thing with others, or for TSj drives.
Also, Rodgers tried to go one on one early in second half and got stuffed badly.
Harmon does require that you play him honest as he shoots 41% from three so we can play the five out.
He is not a PG, or very good defender but the tradeoffs have to be considered. Rodgers wasn't going to stop a quicker Buie and they had TSj on him to start and then went bigger later.
I think teams might try to do this more and more. Rodgers inability to shoot a jump shot of any kind is a problem.
And also, Underwood is not the most creative guy. He sees something that works and then rides it to death.
Right now it is the isolation back a guy in thing and if they double throw to a cutter or threeball guy.
Finally, we have nobody that can stay in front of the Boo Buie's and Jahmar Young's of the world.
This is where a Harris could have helped a little-but he can't shoot or dribble or pass on offense.
I think the lack of a true lead guard that can shoot, handle, and create may be the deciding factor for us not getting to S16 or EE in a close game at the end.
