Tipoff is scheduled for 9:00 EST-State Farm Center in Champaign, Illinois-on BTN.
Ty Berry/Boo Buie with Barnhizer (F) are the go too players for the NW Wildcats.
Rodgers on defense, with Goode hitting from outside again, Domask hitting from all 3 levels and a large dose of Dainja inside will be our keys tonight imo.
Northwestern is getting +6 per early day projections.
Prediction Illini 82 - NW 70
-
Just hoping we get the 1 seed in the NIT

Just hoping we get the 1 seed in the NIT
Way to temper the expectations...LOL
-
The team secretly hates Shannon and will play better without that ball hog.
IL - 64
NW- 47
-
At home I like our chances but I would bet NU at +6. They play guards with higher pressure on defense than we are used to and we have no PG. We are not a top 10 team. We'll have to reboubd and exploit our size advantage but if the wrong Hawkins shows up we might be screwed.

Agree, will be interested to see how we handle ball pressure and decent team. We haven't played anyone since Tennessee.
Domask has shown surprisingly weak handle. Shows the ball too much unless he is backing in on a smaller guy.
Goode cannot handle the ball really.
Rodgers can be ok with a head of steam but often picks up his dribble way out on the floor too much. He also doesn't know how to back dribble and retreat and change directions when pressed. Still learning.
Harmon will need to help.
I actually think they might use Hawkins and Guerrier more as pressure safety valves and run more of offense through Hawkins who has been making better decisions.
But we do gang rebound and stay in front of people and that will win a lot of games if we shoot decently.
Our 3 pt % is at 33 and UW has announced he wants as many threes as we can get.
-
I think we win but it will be close
looking forward to watching late tonight
-
These aren't your extra practice Cats. I expect this one to be a battle all the way to the end.

Jesus T. Christ, if we're losing by ten and they're still launching I may throw something through the TV. I can't wrap my head around that strategy when you're playing a 4-guard team and you're the one with Hawkins, Rodgers, and Guerrier in the starting 5.
-
I expect a victory, but it would not surprise me if the Illini lost.
-
I hope to see a team remaining focused on defense and playing relatively smart on offense but won't be surprised if we aren't.
-
Dainja with the assist and avoiding a charge going down the lane.,
-
Our kids are hustling their asses off. Goode saved a few possessions for us.
-
Goode taking it to the rack. You don’t see that very often.
-
“TSJ by committee” is a success so far. Guys stepping up. Ball movement is the best we’ve seen probably since 04-05. Goode giving me some Lucas Johnson vibes. Harmon plays good D and is good in transition. Couple of ugly shots though. No sign of DGL.
-
We look fairly good on both sides of the ball, particularly on defense keeping them in check without our key guys getting in foul trouble.
-
DGL sighting
-
Let’s step on a wild kitty neck.
-
Great let’s put DGL on Buie and let him get going 🙄
-
Combating the Cats half court trap must have been a point of emphasis for us in practice because we shredded it. Really high IQ stuff from our guys.

First time on the basketball board?

4 turnovers in the half.
-
Killing these dudes
-
White TSJ is booty balling the nerds out of the gym
-
I just know PAMan is dying for a “we are better off without him”
-
... can we still be good?
Obviously our ceiling is a lot lower, but .. we maybe can still be good?
Reports of our death have been at least slightly exaggerated.
-
There’s enough talent and maturity and enough fit to still finish near the top of the B1G. But I won’t be surprised if they don’t.
-
Really though this has been impressive. Guys aren’t deferring as much and are being more aggressive. Guys are taking advantage of the extra minutes. Ball movement is great. Vision is great on the traps. Defense and rebounding solid like always. Except for that three by Buie.
-
It looked like suicide for them to double early but then they backed off it and Domask started abusing people in iso
-
Let’s hang 100 on these clowns
-
We're shooting 63% from the floor and 50% from three. Very few teams will compete with us shooting like that and guarding like we do.
-
The NW roster looks like a the cast of a Chevy commercial

The nice thing about it is that it’s not just us shooting out of our asses. We are dismantling their defense in the half court and getting plenty of easy baskets in transition. Dunk city. Wide open threes. A lot like the FAU game offensively. Would like to see Dain get some serious tick down the stretch here.
-
Buie getting frustrated
-
After one of the worst weeks for Illini basketball ever, too. Like this shit has to be weighing on our guys, and they look great.
-

Looking like he’s done for the night.
-
I just know PAMan is dying for a “we are better off without him”
In due time, I'm sure.
Glad to see the boys play with the sand.
-
Guerrier with the double double, 14 and 10.
-

Nice night for the Chocolate Frenchman
-
Collins falling all over himself about how we play and our personnel and the institution of “booty ball” and how hard it makes us to stop. Gotta give Brad some credit for this roster and bringing that element to the coaching this season.

Booty ball is what those on the losing team call it when they can't match up.

As far as I can tell, you’re spot-on.
-
Underwood also confirmed that they spent a lot of time gameplanning for the Cats post trap. It certainly showed so kudos to the staff and the players for executing. The buy in from these kids is tremendous. It's like night and day from last year's squad.
Shot selection has improved significantly. Even Hawkins isn't taking as many "wtf" step back threes anymore.
-
Domask needs to drop 30 for us to beat PU. It's possible.

This. Team executed but staff had them ready. Great job.

This team is better without Shannon as I suspected
-
Just so you know...

Just got done watching the game that was fan fucking tastic
-
The NW roster looks like a the cast of a Chevy commercial
Underrated post 😂
-
I'm not sure this team resembles previous Underwood teams so I credit Guerrier and Domask for bringing the mentality to play hard and smart on both ends of the floor.
And Harmon has really stepped up with his increase in playing time, 8-12 on 3s the last 2 games after starting 5-16.
3 noice transfers.
-
Awesome game, not even close in all aspects.
Not sure how NW beat Purdue, that will be a task for us, and Dain better be ready to be that dancing bear. We need Edey in foul trouble.
Domask will not get 30 against Jones and the other wings/guards.....Purdue's backcourt is much stronger and better than NW players.
Domask, Gym Rat, coaches son stud transfer for us
Gurrier, imagine if he would have come here first
CoHawk, working his mentality back into shape....I think he truly wants to be an Alpha, can he handle it? Defensive pressure is elite.
Harmon, I was wrong, the kid can play, Kudo's to him, he is turning into a very nice addition.
Dainja....gotta be frustrated, he will have some really good games for us soon.
Goode, maybe figured out how to stay on the floor...it ain't his shooting, it's his hustle and offensive rebounding
DGL, really figured with his athleticism, he would/could run the show, freshman mistakes/defense are his downfall so far.
Rodgers, the kid is a freak athlete, with a nose for the ball....he will be our TSJ in 2 years if he can improve his shot.
Couldn't ask for a better game....well done ILLINI!!! Well done coaching staff!!!

This team is better without Shannon as I suspected
And there it is...
On behalf of Jobu, go back to sucking cocks, you little bitch assed, weasel voiced, bug eyed, flop sweat, loser piece of shit.
-
It’s truth. He’s so consistently a moron it barely counts
-
Interesting numbers:
PU had 17 TO against NU. The feral kittens had 8 steals and 20 points off TO.
We had 10 TO. NU had 3 steals and 8 points off TO.
-
I've got truth on ignore and am resisting the morbid temptation to peek. Even at his peak, nothing piques my interest.
I only sight what he posts if someone at this site cites him.
I gather his excuse for returning is TJS's suspension? So when Shannon returns ...

He’s never going to play here again.
It’s nap time at your govt ran nursing home
-
He returned because he's a huge pussy who is incapable of sticking to his word no matter what.
He's wrong about everything but his ego demands he pretend to have been right no matter what.

I think it is time for you to move along.
