Can't wait to see all your hot takes!
On btn in about 10 mins from now
-
Nice ending for Sparty. Kept the game from going to OT.
-
Sorry 40 mins from now looks like the time changed

Spreading misinformation!
-
Did they boo Self?
-
Where is Dainja?
-
There he is
-
Ty Rodgers has looked pretty good so far at the point.
-
Dainja should have worked on his free shots over the summer
-
Hawkins might have put in some work behind the 3 point line in the offseason.
-
Free shot shooting....d'oh
-
Yeah free shots. Still a big issue.
UCLA Shannon might be making an appearance tonight.
-
A little trouble with free shots but other than that not too shabby.
44% from 3.
Up 5 on the boards.

-
5 turnovers
-
Getting sloppy now
-
Great fucking ball movement there.
-
Things have gotten quite chippy for an exhibition game.
-
A tale of 2 halves
-
Guerrier looking pretty good
-
Guerrier looking pretty good
8-10 on free shots too
-
Let’s close this out.
-
Still too many BS end of possession shots? Thoughts?
-
Now Guerrier probably hurt such that it will impact him the rest of the season....
-
Let's get this over before the Bear kickoff!!!!
-
Man, our team is so experienced. Love it.
-
Let's get this over before the Bear kickoff!!!!
Agreed. I’m excited to see Bagent!
-
Well that was unexpected
-
Hunter Dickhead can't beat us even when the games don't matter. Suck it!
-
Good win. Hunter still never won against us. This team is capable of going far this season. Let's hope they do. Lots of experience and potential.
-

Haha he's such a bitch 0-4
-
Well that was unexpected
Winning a meaningless exhibition game in October versus #1 and then crapping out the first weekend in March is, unfortunately, on brand.

We didn't have long droughts or stretches of stupid
-
We didn't have long droughts or stretches of stupid
Very true
-
Exhibition sure but both teams were out there laying it all on the line in a meaningless game. Certainly had the feel of a game that actually mattered.
Ball movement is already looking loads better than last season. You think Mayer not being around to muck up the offense anymore might have something to do with that?
Free shots, free shots, free fucking shots. Gotta have them, though they did improve as the game went on.
Again it's an exhibition game so I'm not gonna get too carried away. I'll take the wait-and-see-until-January-16th approach.
-
Ball movement was really good and much better than much of last year. Was a great showing and hopefully this is a foreshadow of good things to come this season.
-
A lot of things to like. Domask is a really nice player. Guerrier is a really tough kid. We played hard.
Better shot selection and decision making. I am sure Underwood wanted to win. He left
Hawkins in when he had 4 and 5 fouls the last 6 minutes. Pulled Rodgers in last several minutes and did not play DGL or Moretti.
Not sure what to make of the point guard position.
Rodgers is not really close to being a PG. Harmon is OK, but a backup in a perfect world.
Our ballhandling under 1:00 minute when getting pressured was not good. I hope DGL develops quickly to give us another minutes option there.
Goode just looks overmatched athletically. Dainja looks like 10mpg backup this year.
Shannon is a fucking stud. Hawkins looks pretty much the same to me with a little better stroke.
We could be pretty good if they get something out of the PG spot and Hawkins can be consistent.
I do assume the help D will get better. Kansas had a layup drill going a lot of the game on us.
As for Kansas- they better find some perimeter shooting.
-
Man, our team is so experienced. Love it.
The crunch time lineup of Hawkins, Shannon, Harmon, Guerrier and Domask are a combined 113 years of age.
Hawkins at 21 years old is the youngest guy on the floor of that group.
-
I read the bio in FightingIllini.com for Guerrier yesterday. He put up decent numbers in 4 years with Syracuse and Oregon. And did it yesterday.
I had no idea he might be more than a 6th or 7th guy.
-
Based upon yesterday it looks like they are going 8 deep with the 9 and 10 guys (DGL and Harris and Hansberry) trying to crack in there as season goes on.
I am thinking Harris leaves after this year or at semester. They are going to commit to keeping DGL is my guess.
Underwood started the annual "Hawkins is an elite shooter who we want to shoot more (15-16 shots if needed) who hits 40-50% on threes in practice" bullshit again. ::)
Hawkins is a career 28% shooter from 3.
-
I really do not like Coleman Hawkins.
-
Hansbury was playing well on defense and rebounding. He made same poor decisions -- bad passes and bad shots, went to the bench and don't think he got back in.

Did he take your picture from The Twitter and draw a penis going towards your mouth?

Observations is that the intensity level throughout was like a early 2024 game schedule wise....donations to help the people needing help was awesome, thought i heard over 1 million.
Players:
TSJ All American easy this year if he plays to this level or higher every game
Hawkins will be the perfect Robin to TSJ Batman all year, has to get more scoring in
Domask great add, has alot of talent and experience on how to use it all
Guerrier will be our permanent 4 all year, extra scoring rebounding we will need all year
Rodgers perfectly fine being go to, the ball will be out of his hands early and often and when it isn't he will drive and dish/shoot 15'er's. He will not be in at the end of games however.
Goode seems lost, overmatched athletically, lets hope he can become our microwave off the bench.
DGL I still think will be primary ball handler come conference
Dain looks like a career backup right now, but this game with KU skillset players didn't do him any favors
Harmon just seems way overmatched to me, he is a mid level conference player at best.
Harris will be 6th man all year nothing more...good energy, skillset has to be better
Overall we got what we wanted imo from this game, I would wager Self may have walked away thinking why other than charity did I do this to my #1 ranked team before the season. I bet he wasn't thrilled with this regardless of exhibition or not.
-
Got delay after delay getting from NYC to Nashville yesterday, got home super late, just catching up. Sounds like a nice showing.
-
I agree with most.
I don’t think DGL will do/be what you said above. Could be wrong, but think he will be down the bench a ways most of this year.
Harmon and Goode gave me the same kind of feeling you stated above. I would like to see someone step up and over take these two. Both are very smart and fundamentally sound players so they will see tick.
Dain looked lost last night, but he will get plenty of tick this year. I guess if not, I could see him saying F this and check out mid season. He didn’t look too engaged last night on the bench and bad body language having to sit that much.
Harris will be the microwave (in energy, not buckets) instead of Goode. Don’t see Harris going anywhere this season or next. Goode I could see that.

I honestly never understand what you are looking at. ::)
Rodgers has not hit a 15 footer in his life.
He is not a true drive and dish guy. He really cannot beat his man off the bounce and get to rim. He can beat them once in awhile physically backing in.
Can't recall any real kickouts in his 3 Asst/3 TO performance. Was invisible in second half.
He is average ball handler and passer and defender at best. He is just a guy right now.
DGL will not be our starting point guard and primary ballhandler in one month when we open conference play on Dec 2nd, or even in January
because Rodgers is the guy who has been awarded the Coach Underwood DaMonte Williams Huge Boner Award for this year.
Right now he is going to use Harmon as an adequate experienced ballhandler and better scorer who can probably hit FTs to split the time and keep starting Rodgers. Hopefully Rodgers shows more game. Hopefully DGL can play more minutes as season progresses.
Coming in and jacking a three got him 3 minutes and a seat next to the walk ons though.
We really do not have a lead guard yet. Underwood likes old guys. At end of games it is going to be get the ball to TSJ and GTFO of his way.
Kind of like when we had no point guard in the AYO years. Good coaches will fuck with us as season progresses.
Harris will not be 6th man. He played 8 minutes and was a non factor as usual.
He is not good at basketball.
Goode is not a microwave. He is not and never was a natural scorer. He is a spot up shooter. The book is easy on him. Stay the fuck home on him and find him on the delayed break. He can't beat you off the dribble.
He is slow. Unless he shoots lights out his minutes will be about what you saw. Domask is way better and will get 30 mpg.
-

Much better 😁
I was EXTREMELY impressed with Domask. He will possibly be our second best player in my opinion…

As long as there are unlimited fouls without fouling out, the Illini should be ok.
-

I think we’re deep enough to overcome that…
-

LOL. Hawkins is still whining after every fcking call. I hope he turns the corner.
-
I think we’re deep enough to overcome that…
Even if it is Hawkins getting the 5 fouls like yesterday?
-
I don't think we are that deep. We have more semi-usable players I guess, but the bench has only one guy who is really a proven previous high minute producer and that is Harmon and he will have a learning curve at high D1, and Dainja is only good when his head is right and the match ups are good.
We just have spaghetti we are throwing at the wall out there at Point Guard. Hopefully something sticks.
We go seven deep with the above.
Then you have Goode, Harris, and two freshmen with possible upsides.
The four main starters are going to get road like a bitch because they will usually do what UW wants and they are good to very good and one is a possible AA.
The PG slot is a work in progress. Dainja is an enigma.
If a Hawkins has to sit in a game, you have to bring in Dainja or use Gueurrier inside to buy time.
God forbid UW would ever use a zone.
Domask will be the glue guy and hopefully be our second or third scorer most games.
-
Rodgers is the guy who has been awarded the Coach Underwood DaMonte Williams Huge Boner Award for this year.
I laughed way too hard at this
-
Even if it is Hawkins getting the 5 fouls like yesterday?
2 of those 5 were total phantom calls, but yeah stfu and play you whiner
-

I heard he was flattered.
-
Dain is super matchup dependent. If he stays healthy he’ll have some nights he is unstoppable and puts up double doubles and other nights he’s a non factor or liability.
-

Agree.
He can look good at times, but others times he is a stiff.
His free shots looked like shit.
I mean he has somehow gotten worse.
This staff can't teach shooting.
WTF did they do all summer?
-
I honestly never understand what you are looking at. ::) Well since you are slicing and dicing my posts....clarify I will. :)
Rodgers has not hit a 15 footer in his life. He will be used to get inside the lane 15 or in and then dish or shoot....meaning he could drive into the lane and shoot a 8 footer or send it out for a better shot...no more than that as BU Boner. I like the kid ALOT, he is not a PG and WILL NOT have the ball in the final moments.
He is not a true drive and dish guy. He really cannot beat his man off the bounce and get to rim. He can beat them once in awhile physically backing in. Fair and exactly why he won't be the PG into conference...let's be honest, he isn't really one at all with how much the ball is out of his hands already.
Can't recall any real kickouts in his 3 Asst/3 TO performance. Was invisible in second half. Throughout the season was the point, could have clarified.
He is average ball handler and passer and defender at best. He is just a guy right now. I agree 100% with this.
DGL will not be our starting point guard and primary ballhandler in one month when we open conference play on Dec 2nd, or even in January
because Rodgers is the guy who has been awarded the Coach Underwood DaMonte Williams Huge Boner Award for this year. Agree BU has a fetish for Rodgers, but I would not discount the true need for a PG and DGL is the closest thing we may have....not ideal obviously, but if his head is on straight, I could see it happening.
Fair, needs a check and learn the role to be on the floor.
We really do not have a lead guard yet. Underwood likes old guys. At end of games it is going to be get the ball to TSJ and GTFO of his way.
Kind of like when we had no point guard in the AYO years. Good coaches will fuck with us as season progresses. Ayo wasn't an OLD guy, AYO was also BU savior so the youngster got the tick.
Harris will not be 6th man. He played 8 minutes and was a non factor as usual. Exhibition, his time can't be gauged off of this...he will get the minutes and he will be the 6th man as far as minutes due to defense alone.
He is not good at basketball. Considering our bench he is above average right now for us. He is better than Harmon, that kid is lost and overmatched.
Goode is not a microwave. He is not and never was a natural scorer. He is a spot up shooter. The book is easy on him. Stay the fuck home on him and find him on the delayed break. He can't beat you off the dribble. Let's HOPE he can become our microwave, he is not now and I think he would do better being at a mid major honestly. Have since he got here.
He is slow. Unless he shoots lights out his minutes will be about what you saw. Domask is way better and will get 30 mpg. Domask is going to end up being one of our better players, hell he is already.
Wording is everything, but the concepts are the same the DGL reference is out there granted, but all else what I saw/see, and what you are referencing are just semantics really. I do always enjoy the back and forth, as it is entertaining and worth the efforts....play ball.
-
I heard he was flattered.
Good one.
-
How did the crowd react to Self? Tried to do a Twitter search but didn’t find anything that seemed all that telling.
Polite applause.
-
Yes the freshmen didn't play much. Dra jacked up a three and got benched. Hansberry threw the ball away and got benched. Moretti played solid defensively but missed two free shots and got benched.
Short leash or BU was using this game to refine his early rotation?
The 3 transfers are going to play along with Shannon, Coleman, and Rodgers. Dainja and Goode are in the top 8 for now. Buck is probably 9th man.
As for point guard, all of them can handle in transition. Looks like Rodgers and Domask will initiate the half court offense for the time being.
-
They need to work DGL in ahead of Harris and Goode.

Hi Lkdog,
What are your thoughts on Moretti? Our guy Nichi really needs his cock deep into his throat/ass, and I'm wondering if it's worth the trouble.
Thanks,
Jobu
-
Jobu unaffected by the Shingles shot, as we can see.

Hi ThePAMan,
So far so good!
Best,

-
I mean, sometimes you develop a crush, and really, really want to fuck someone. In Nichi's case, it's Moretti.
That's great!
-
I guess what I'm trying to say, fellas, is find someone who likes you like Nichi likes Moretti. You will be knee deep in pussy (or cock) for the rest of your days.

Well first of all glad you got the Shingles shot. Remember to go get your second one. My wife is a drug rep and sells them. Trust me- you do not want Shingles.
It will fuck you up.
As for Moretti- he probably would be a contributor on any team except one coached by Underwood who somehow thinks we are a fucking rugby team, and in a league besides the Big Ten.
He looks skilled from what little video I have seen. Kind of like the Harding kid. Not sure how these type of kids will handle the Big Ten bullyball and shit officials in the Big Ten but they can play some ball.
If we had a different staff who could coach an actual offense, and played some zone, and valued ball skills and shooting, and ...... well you get the idea.

Yeah, I have had relatives that had shingles. It's bad shit.
Have the appointment made for the second one. All good there
-
A self appointed insider at TOS insists Moretti is not B1G material.
I think Moretti has some obvious offensive skills. Not sure if he is physical enough to play Underwood defense. I have said that again and again.
The Harding kid whose parents are big Illini fans is a good comparison. We tried to recruit him too late.
I would like to see the kid succeed to make self appointed expert stfu.
I could see a a Podz-lite path opening up for Moretti if he does not succeed here.
Buck's (Harris) best position might be strong safety. He should consider giving football a try if he drops out of the rotation.

100% agree on Harris.
The football team needs him.
I don't see why a Moretti isn't being given a chance. He can handle and pass.
Looks like he might be able to shoot enough to where you can't ignore him past 3 feet.
Same with DGL who is obvious plus athlete who has a whole bag of shit.
A Marcus Lovett baller.
Rodgers looks like a bear tearing through a campground looking for something to eat.
Underwood has planted his flag in Rodgers though and has to prove now he didn't completely fuck up by not getting a legit experienced point guard in off-season.
If he had done so we would be Top 10-12 team.
-
Eh a lot of hand wringing for a team that just beat the preseason #1 ranked team in a game where both teams clearly wanted it. I’m not happy about the PG situation either, and have said so often throughout the offseason. However, I expect BU to play the guys that give the team the best chance to win.

We will be Top 20- 35 no matter what. We have enough experienced quality players to be pretty competitive.
We will not make 11 threes on regular basis though. TSJ and Hawkins made 9 between them. When you go 11-27 you will win 9/10 times.
We had 14 TOs and at end of the game nobody wanted or came to handle the ball except TSJ.
You know Underwood though.
My guess is he keeps starting Rodgers all year unless he and team really struggles. He will use Harmon early to split a fair amount of the time and maybe the younger guys will get into the mix as season progresses.
Will be much more enjoyable season than last year and hopefully we play well in NCAA tourney.
KenPom has us at 19 and Torvik has us at 29. Sounds about right range.

In the last 2.5 years the Illini have won the Big Ten in basketball twice, had a 1 seed in the tourney, and played in a January bowl game.

Decent observations. LaTulip thinks Domask can be one of the primary ballhandlers and he said a lot by what he didn't say about Rodgers.
We have an experienced group. We will not get much out of Rodgers most nights in his 20 mpg, but need him to not hurt us really when he is out there and we should be OK.
-
I'm actually more comfortable with Rodgers after the KU game because it didn't go as bad as I expected but it's clear we're going to be doing pg by rotation with Harmon and Domask carrying a lot of ball handling mid-game.
