Consumer prices rose 4.2% annually in May, highest in three years

Well...if it keeps up over July through September, I'll get a bigger SS COLA than last year.

WINNING!

I’d say Bears ownership deserves about 60% of the blame for its clumsy, heavy-handed negotiating approach.  The rest goes equally to the State of Illinois and City of Chicago.

More than 20 years ago, Richard M. Daley and the Bears ruined a meaningful memorial to U.S. soldiers who had died in combat during World War I. I also recall discussion of moving the team to the former U.S. Steel South Works site in Southeast Chicago.

If they can’t secure a public funding deal for the Arlington Heights site before the fall legislative veto session, then the team can play on top of a slag heap in Northwest Indiana.  So be it.

Tempo’s support of Hamas and Platner are peak TDS psychosis. It’s absolutely majestic. Saw a quote earlier about this tanking the economy. Meanwhile all the benchmarks we should all be invested in keep cranking out record numbers.

Haven’t heard a peep from Tempo about that because he doesn’t have investments and gas prices are in his wallet.

The big markets know we are in better shape than we have been in a while. Oil is high but everyone that knows anything is buying the market. Just like I said it would be a couple months ago.

The only positive economic news that most working-class Americans can point to right now is the performance of their retirement and investment portfolios, but even a brief look suggests those gains are sitting on an inflated market bubble that will return to earth at some point.  Otherwise they’re paying more, earning less, and for those unlucky enough to be looking for a home or vehicle are at the mercy of more crushing debt than any previous generation would ever have rationally contemplated.  The people calling this a good or improving economy are mentally ill or lying to themselves, or both.  It's as simple as that.

Lots of extremely fucked up things are going on in the UK right now and I’m glad at least somebody here besides me and MN are picking up on it.

Yes, the UK is rivaling the US for fucked upness.

To be fair, I'm not sure what my exes would say about me if the NYT asked.

I remember the Bicentennial well. There were lots of community events and activities, and my favorite was painting fire hydrants in patriotic colors and designs.

The excitement had been building since 1975, and I think people were ready to move past Watergate.  I’m not getting the same level of anticipation this time.  Not even close.  I think we all know why.

Trump is the only president who could take an easy non-political opportunity to bring the country together and turn it into a dumpster fire.

He appears to be a much better D senate candidate than Beto.  Will be interesting to see if he can connect with disaffected Cornyn runoff voters.  I think most will vote for Paxton or stay home.

Forget Nevada.  Time to aim higher and seek paradise elsewhere.

As part of Trump’s Freedom 250 celebration, a lineup of music luminaries led by Vanilla Ice, Milli Vanilli, Bret Michaels, and Flo Rida will all participate in The Great American State Fair, a 16-date event taking place on the National Mall throughout June and July.

Billed as a “once-in-a-generation celebration,” the Great American State Fair also promises performances from Morris Day & The Time, C+C Music Factory, Martin McBride, The Commodores, and Martina McBride

I’m thinking of this when I read it…

This is a really great ad. Ossoff is definitely running. And he could win.

Vote your Ossoff, Georgia!

If he wins and wins with room to spare in November, he could be the Obama in the 2028 campaign cycle.  Dems need a rebrand and refresh.  Like that Ossoff is emphasizing the corruption theme.

Neither one of them have a chance of getting nominated because Hamas and fraud supporting Progressive scum are taking over the Democratic party.

I don't think the progressives are taking over the Democratic party.  They are certainly making progress in deep blue or progressive-heavy districts, but establishment and moderate Ds still control the party institution and fundraising apparatus.

I do think the left and centrist wings of the party are finding more common ground on policy issues like Medicare for All, aggressive climate action and increased taxes on the wealthy.  Both factions also know they have to do a better job connecting with swing, union and working class voters.

I never called the Chief Justice a racist per se. I qualified it.

I don't know if the balls n strikes guy is racist, but he seems determined to take the country backwards.

My problem is Roberts wants to return to the divine right of kings in the guise of the unitary executive theory, coupled with the presidential immunity decision.

SPRINGFIELD–In order to verify damage from the storms and tornadoes March 10-11, preliminary damage assessment (PDA) teams will go door-to-door on Wednesday, March 25 through at least Thursday, March 26. These teams will include representatives from the Kankakee County Emergency Management Agency, Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

PDA teams are surveying details of damage to homes and possessions, particularly losses not covered by insurance “We have seen that many Kankakee County residents and businesses are dealing with serious storm damage,” said IEMA-OHS Acting Director Theodore (Ted) Berger. “To understand the full impact, teams need to document damage to homes, personal belongings, and businesses. Information from this damage assessment process will validate data to inform next steps related to eligible assistance programs.”

It seems FEMA was in K3 county March 10-11 to do damage assessments.

In response to a request from Pritzker, the federal government has apparently issued a disaster declaration for Kankakee and other Illinois and Indiana counties impacted by the storm and tornado on March 10.

Affected businesses, non-profits, homeowners and renters can now apply for low-interest disaster loans.
