Belichick puts the Patriots back in the Super Bowl this year.
-
That is a spicy take.
-
5 wins in a row
-
5 wins in a row
They should make the playoffs, but there ain’t no way in hell they’re making or winning the Super Bowl. I appreciate your boldness though. No matter how huffed up on glue you are.
Mac Jones and Ja’marr Chase are fighting for Offensive Rookie of the Year. Being a QB will probably get Jones the award.
-
Probably not, but they’ve gone through a hell of a transformation the past month. They are not a team anyone in the AFC will want to see in the playoffs.
-
here's my spicy take
Bears won't even make the playoffs once in the next 5 years
-
here's my spicy take

Division will be weak once Rodgers leaves. Bears should be in position to win multiple division titles the next few years if Fields is good, and I think he will be.
-
And in a blink, New England is back in 1st place and the #3 seed in the AFC.
-
I don't see why not, because nobody's actually good that I can tell.

That was definitely part of my reasoning.

This is no fun if you two are not disagreeing.
-
Another extra spicy NFL take. WFT wins the NFC East after starting 1-6.
-
I forgot to factor in Taylor Heinecke’s erratic play.
-
I put $50 last week on the Niners to win the NFC, and they come out and lay an egg against Seattle. I expected them to win this game fairly easily.
-
How about them Lions? Boy are they going places now!
-
How about them Lions? Boy are they going places now!
Vikings had a lot of players out, but ......
4 minutes left. Lions up 2 at their own 30. 4th and 1.
Time to punt and pray for the defense to get a win.
Lions say 'not so fast' and Goff goes play action and drops back to pass. Not only does he drop back 10 yards, but he also drops the ball.
Vikings score, up by 4. Go for 2 because they went for 2 earlier and missed. They miss this time too.
1:50 left and the Lions get the ball and go 75 yards to score at the buzzer.
Some fine football. Lol.
-
Ravens go for 2 and the win. Lamar throws a shitty pass to a wide open Andrews who got a hand on it but couldn't bring it in. Would have been one of the easiest 2 pt conversions you'll ever see.
Steelers win.
-
All of a sudden the Patriots are the 1 seed in the AFC.
Ballsy decision by Harbaugh to go for 2. I love Lamar, but he is so erratic as a passer.
-
Patriots win a game in which their QB only completed 2/3 pass attempts for 19 yards.
Classic cold weather football tonight.
-
Bonus hot take:
Not as spicy as it would have been a couple weeks ago, but after looking like a SB team the first 5-6 weeks, Buffalo misses the playoffs. Browns sneak in.
-
That's extra spicy!

Urban Meyer fired. Who the hell didn't see that coming?
Non-stop shitshow in Jacksonville.

It’ll be interesting to see if he ends up in college somewhere.

Without question he will.

Without question he will.
Oh no doubt. Just wonder if he has an interest in doing it or how soon he might get an opportunity. If he does it’ll have to be at a blue blood I’m sure. Probably be next year.
-
We'll see how this plays out...
"Just hours after Lawrence made that comment in his weekly news conference, a report surfaced from the Tampa Bay Times in which former Jaguars kicker Josh Lambo alleged that coach Urban Meyer kicked him in the leg while he was stretching in warm-ups before a practice during the week of the final preseason game."

With USC, Notre Dame, LSU and what not already settled, it’ll probably be next year or the year after, but I’d be shocked if a power 5 program doesn’t hire him.

It’d be crazy if he took Michigan if/when Harbaugh left. O$U would explode 😂
-
A program like Nebraska would probably hire him in a heartbeat, if he’d take that kind of job.
-
I could see him going to Texas.
-
A program like Nebraska would probably hire him in a heartbeat, if he’d take that kind of job.
Hell, wouldn't Illinois hire him in a heartbeat if he would even consider taking Guenther, Jr.'s call?
-
Probably. Doubt he’ll have dumpster dive that deeply though.
-
I envision him going to a former powerhouse desperate to reclaim greatness. Texas, FSU, Tennessee, Oklahoma to a lesser degree.
-
Tennessee would be a perfect fit for him. They’d embrace him, not the worst place to live, and a short plane ride back to Ohio.
-
Probably. Doubt he’ll have dumpster dive that deeply though.
Maybe he'll take over for Fritzy when he takes the Bear job.
-
Hanging out with other women or kicking players used to make it tough to get a job, or a decent job.
Doing both can get you a blue blood power 5 job ?

Only tough for guys who suck, like Beckman. The Pirate Guy did not seem to suffer as a result of the allegations against him.

I don't know if we hired Beckman before Bobby Petrino got fired at Arkansas for hanging out with a woman, but we'd have been better off with Petrino.
-
The dude harbored violent criminals at Florida for Chrissakes. You think he’s not going to get a job because he hung out with another woman?
-
I think he's more likely to be back in a broadcast booth. At least for a while.
-
I think he’d be more likely to get a coaching job, personally. What network would want to hire him? Maybe ESPN, they have no standards.
-
Rough outing for the Patriots. One thing is for sure, they are not built to come from behind.
-

I might have to watch that movie again.

I might have to watch that movie again.
It seems it’s kind of had a renaissance the last couple years. I think I watched it during lockdown. Made a lot more sense to me than when I’d seen it in the 90s.
-
I might have to watch that movie again.
Just watching it again a couple weeks ago. Then I watched Dances with Wolves. Two great movies!
-
That fucking PI call against the Ravens was awful. I swear, the NFL is becoming the WWE.
-
Tombstone is definitely worth a rewatch every couple years.
-
I think Indy at +900 and SF at +1300 are intriguing odds to win their conferences.
-
Another extra spicy NFL take. WFT wins the NFC East after starting 1-6.
This one not looking so good.
-
I don’t think I’ve ever been as disinterested in the NFL as I have been this year. Bad play, lopsided games, no real special teams. If you’re not a gambler or a big fantasy football fan there just doesn’t seem to be much reason to watch these games.
-
This one not looking so good.
Neither is his Bills take
-

Assuming you are a Bears fan, I get that the NFL is uninteresting when your team sucks. Early in the season, the highlighted games were great. It has definitely trailed off lately, though.
-
Neither is his Bills take
Refresh my memory.
-
This one not looking so good.
Injuries, Covid, and erratic quarterbacking have caught up with them. They definitely can’t handle Dallas, that’s for sure.
-
This year more than ever confirms the NFL is a week to week league. You can point to about every team in the top half of the league and say they looked a strong contender at some point, and a pretender at another.
-
Covid definitely playing a role in that, and some teams have been ravaged with injuries. Impressive Tennessee has been able to keep the wheels on despite getting wrecked with injuries.

I hope Baltimore gets in the playoffs, and Lamar returns. Fun to watch.
-

I like them, but I’m hoping Cleveland gets in. They’re a dangerous team if healthy.
And while I love Lamar, Kyler, I’m becoming more and more convinced you have to pass from the pocket to win a SB. They are good passers, but I’m not sure they have the consistency from the pocket to win a SB with a less than overwhelming supporting cast.
-
Refresh my memory.
He posted, somewhere, that the Bills were not going to make the playdowns.
-

Ooh, yeah. That take took a hit yesterday.
NFC playoff picture looks fairly predictable. AFC is a mess.
-
He posted, somewhere, that the Bills were not going to make the playdowns.
They were for sure headed in the wrong direction. A 9-6 loss to Jacksonville is inexcusable. They’ve rebounded nicely, and in a way I wasn’t sure they were capable of. Again, more than ever, it’s a week to week league.
-
Probably my last spicy take before the playoffs. I like SF and Indy to make some noise going forward. NE perhaps peaked too early, and not sure Mac Jones is ready to be more than a caretaker. If they get behind, they are in trouble.
-
Basically the NFL has finally turned I to what the power brokers wanted. A league where there’s no real dominant teams, and everyone has a realistic shot week to week. There’s literally 8 or 9 teams with a realistic shot at winning the Super Bowl.
-
Make that 10 teams, at least. Just saw where the Titans are 10th in odds. And they are a 2 seed. Wow.
-

and pretty much bad games all week long

and pretty much bad games all week long
And the Monday night game was awful.
-
Had a chance to win big money in that game in the 3rd quarter. Payton couldn’t find a way to get Alvin Kamara more than 1 catch before mid 4th. Payton did nothing to help his young QB. It was Fields/Browns redux.
-
Antonio Brown gonna Antonio Brown.
-
That was bizarre even for him.
-
Antonio Brown gonna Antonio Brown.
He was in my fantasy starting lineup. Ugh.
-
To summarize:
Patriots in the Super Bowl.
Buffalo misses the playoffs.
WFT wins the NFC east.
Browns sneak into the playoffs.
Edit: Indy makes some noise.

You shouldn't have. Lol.

Lol
Yeah. Hot takes were so good this season.
Cleveland would have gotten into the playoffs if not racked with covid and injuries. Vegas needed a last second FG to beat them when Cleveland was missing 22 players.
-
WFT ran out of gas with injuries, too. That wasn’t a great take though. Week to week league.
The biggest miss was Indy. No excuse for them (other than Carson Wentz sucks).
-
😂🤣
He’s right WAY more than he’s wrong, man. Just ask him.🥴
I’m right more than you are. And at least I’ll put myself out there. My takes to beyond “Underwood good. Bielema good. Nagy good.”

Ok man lol, you do you. Whatever makes you feel better.
-
Buffalo did look like straight trash about 5 weeks ago. More than ever week to week league.
-
About the time I said the Bills looked like they would miss the playoffs they’d lost to the Jags 9-6 and were thrashed by the Colts. I believe they’d lost 3 of 5 about that point.

Man, this is embarrassing. Can we scrub this thread and pretend it didn’t exist?
Anyone got one of those thingamajigs from Men in Black?
-
Hot take: Niners beat the Cowboys. If I miss on that one I might be done with NFL hot takes for the year.
-
Here man, I’ll put myself out there in good faith and give you a hot take.
Green Bay and Buffalo in the Super Bowl. Aaron Rodgers gets himself another Super Bowl and you’re gonna weep because he’s not vaxxed and shouldn’t be allowed to win. I’ll weep because I can’t stand the Packers and Rodgers is a douchebag. There, I teed it up for ya.
-
Not exceedingly hot takey.
-
How about Cincinnati over Tennessee?
Fuck it, I’ll take Cincinnati to win that game.
I’m rooting like hell for Burrow and Allen.
-
Has there ever been a 1 seed more disrespected than the Tennessee Titans? No one is talking about them. If Vrabel doesn’t win COY there should be a congressional investigation.
-
Hot take: Niners beat the Cowboys. If I miss on that one I might be done with NFL hot takes for the year.
Eh, the Cowboys have been hot garbage in the playoffs since what, the mid 90's?
-
Eh, the Cowboys have been hot garbage in the playoffs since what, the mid 90's?
I think this Cowboys team is schizophrenic. They absolutely have the talent to win the Super Bowl, but they are pretty erratic. I’m going with the coaching advantage of the Niners, and hoping they can catch Dallas on one of their bad days.
-
Schizophrenic is a good description. For a team that supposedly is setting records with offense this year, they have trouble getting the ball in the end zone. And Dak is unpredictable. They abandon the run quickly.
For the sake of full disclosure (and subsequent ridicule), that's my team. I've watched them all year. Their D carried them the at the end of the season. I don't know much about the Niners this year. Think they've had trouble keeping RBs healthy. Garoppolo is an ok QB.
I'm thinking the Boys break out of their post season funk, and win big.
-
How about Cincinnati over Tennessee?
Fuck it, I’ll take Cincinnati to win that game.
Bump.
-
Tn escapes.
Cincy up 6-0 after 2 field goals.
Tn scores and goes for 2. Ooops. Tie score 6-6. Lol.
Kick the pat and the score with seconds left could have been Tn up 17-16.
Cincy fg at the end lets Tn off the hook. Cincy misses and it's overtime.
Cincy misses and Tn could have been up 17-16.
Don't chase points.
-
Ryan Tannehill is a goat, not the Tom Brady type of goat though.
