This was, and still is, one of America's biggest (audience) and most influential (credible, stories tend to get picked up by other outlets) news programs.

The daily morning meeting always had producers and editors from various departments (National Desk, Science, Arts & Entertainment, etc.) pitching stories.

In hindsight, I'm thinking about all the reporters whose work product made it to the pitch meeting, and died there.
