https://www.koin.com/news/organizers-of-naked-bike-ride-wont-require-shirts-or-pants-but-masks-are-a-must/

Quote
PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Philadelphia bike riders won’t need their shirts, pants, skirts or even underwear — just a mask.

Organizers of the annual Philly Naked Bike Ride say this year’s event will take place Aug. 28 and will require masks, based on the city’s earlier coronavirus restrictions.

The city lifted most of its COVID-19 rules this week, citing an increase in vaccinations and a decrease in cases. But ride organizers said they hadn’t had a chance to chat since the city’s guidelines changed so for the time being, they’re “going to stick with our initial mask guidance.” Lead organizer Wesley Noonan-Sessa said they’ll keep an eye on what the city says in the next month or so.

Dunno. This may be a bigger deal. 🤡
The FBI has warned lawmakers in Washington that QAnon followers may move from being “digital soldiers” to engaging in “real world violence."

Another case of selectively imposing 21st C outrage and cancel culture on historical figures.

The National Audubon Society is a private membership-based, non-profit organization.   John James Audubon did not form the organization.  It was named after him posthumously in the late 19th century because of his pioneering and brilliant work with North American birds.

Injustice and inequity don’t have statutes of limitations.  Racists don’t get a pass because of historical contexts.  If the organization wants to acknowledge, discuss and grapple with the checkered past of Audubon and several of his fellow ornithologists, that’s their business.

Deal with it.

The same sort of thing can be and has been said of Woodrow Wilson and Margaret Sanger, among others. Racist attitudes may not have a statute of limitations, but they do have a historical context.

According to the best extant records, the historical Buddha was staunchly pro-life, fairly sexist and possibly even homophobic by our standards. Cancel Buddhism? Or consider the context of India 2500 years ago?

Private organizations are free to judge historical figures by our current standards if they wish. Others are free to disagree with that approach.

Deal with that.

Why do you hate reading comprehension? .

As I previously wrote:

Deal with that.

I have not changed my mind in the last couple hours. I believe a historical person's views should be weighed in the context of the standards of their time, not ours.

Not sure Woodrow Wilson should be the poster child for your program.
