Hey man, it’s the truth…
Yes, toxicology reports from George Floyd's autopsy showed that he had fentanyl and methamphetamine in his system when he died in May 2020. The drugs found in his system were also linked to a history of opioid addiction.
However, the medical evidence does not indicate that drugs were the cause of his death:
Cause of death The Hennepin County medical examiner ruled the manner of death a homicide and cited "cardiopulmonary arrest complicating law enforcement subdual, restraint, and neck compression" as the cause. An independent autopsy commissioned by the family also ruled it a homicide due to asphyxiation.
Medical testimony During Derek Chauvin's trial, medical experts testified that George Floyd died from a lack of oxygen caused by the officers pinning him down. One expert testified that Floyd's drug use had no impact on his death, adding that a healthy person would also have died under the same circumstances.
Overdose evidence An emergency medicine physician explained that a fentanyl overdose causes sedation and slowed breathing, which contradicts the video evidence of Floyd struggling and begging to breathe.
