i'm loving how hard you are trying to downplay the ridiculous increase in prices since Jan 20, 2025

All the staple items I buy are the cheapest they’ve been in years. Gas, milk, eggs, etc. Beef is high because demand for better protein is up because the economy is so good.

I said downplay but misspelled lying.

Hi AI, what is the common denominator in US cities with the highest murder rates and murder numbers?

*Residual effects of historical factors such as Jim Crow, redlining, ...
*Traditional underfunding of education and crime prevention programs.
*Over reliance on militarized policing.
*Poor relations between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
*Emphasis on punishment rather than rehabilitation.
*Saturation of guns and illegal drugs
*Recent improvement despite Republican sabotage efforts

Posted without the aid of AI. Note that I have a bad right rotator cuff and carpal tunnel in both hands, making this difficult.

The sarcastic reply to AI response practically writes itself. Murder inequality?

Hi AI, what is the common denominator in US cities with the highest murder rates and murder numbers?

AI Overview

The common denominator in US cities with high murder rates and numbers includes economic hardship, concentrated poverty and unemployment, and the disproportionate impact of violence on historically disadvantaged communities and specific demographic groups, particularly young Black males.

Other contributing factors include a lack of resources for public safety, isolation from social supports, and the presence of firearms.

Key Common Factors:

Economic Disadvantage:
Cities with high murder rates often experience significant economic hardship, high poverty rates, and unemployment, which can drive individuals to criminal activity for income.

Concentrated Disadvantage:
Violence is often concentrated within specific, disadvantaged neighborhoods within cities, a phenomenon known as "murder inequality".

Demographic Disparities:
Black males, particularly those aged 15 to 44, face significantly higher homicide rates compared to other demographic groups.

Resource Shortages:
A lack of resources for public safety and policing can impact a city's ability to address and prevent violence, contributing to higher homicide numbers.

Social and Environmental Stressors:
Factors like isolation from social supports, which were exacerbated during the COVID-19 pandemic, can contribute to volatile environments that increase violent crime.

Firearm Accessibility:
The prevalence of firearms is a significant factor in the high rates of gun homicides in affected cities.

Why This Pattern Exists:

Systemic Inequality:
These factors are interconnected and often stem from historical and systemic inequalities that create environments where violence is more likely to occur.

Localized Impact:
Focusing on the specific, high-crime areas within cities provides a more accurate picture of the threat and can inform more effective prevention strategies.

Illini Football tickets are up in price this year. But you are an Iowa fan so what do you care, they can't give away their tickets.

I’m loving how hard the media is trying to downplay the precipitous drop in DC crime since the crackdown

I’m loving that so-called traditional conservatives (or even “moderates”) are cheerleading Martial Law.
"He commented more than once that, 'You know, Hitler did some good things, too,'" Kelly recalled to The Times. Kelly said he would usually quash the conversation by saying "nothing (Hitler) did, you could argue, was good," but that Trump would occasionally bring up the topic again.

Your anger once again misplaced when it comes to food.

Using policy to justify collusion to increase margins is BS. The middlemen make most of the money already in the food industry.

Almost none of the supply chain for a Smucker or Hormel is under pressure from tariffs. Feed for livestock is dirt cheap, and it’s made here.

Hormel just may price themselves out of the shitty canned meat market if they aren’t careful.
