It is not all that hard.

The terms Democratic Socialism and Social Democracy are often used interchangeably with inexact meanings.

Strictly speaking, Venezuela is an example of Democratic Socialism. Why? Because socialist economic policies were adopted via the democratic process, rather than by Marxist revolution.

Denmark is an example of a Social Democracy. The economy is mixed; primarily free markets, but with some central planning to mitigate the shortcomings and excesses of predatory capitalism.

Due to the bullshit Two Party system, Social Democrats and Democratic Socialists are lumped together in the USA. Just like Conservatives and Nationalists are lumped together.
