As I have pushed here repeatedly, the terms Social Democracy and Democratic Socialism are frequently conflated in the United States. However, in some circles, and especially in Europe, they are clearly distinguished.

Social Democracy = a mixed economy. Primarily free markets with some central planning.

Similarly  fascism, conservativism, neo-liberalism, capitalism, monopolism, and nationalism all tend to get lumped together in the USA.
