Social Democracy did  stave off communist socialism by addressing the excesses, inequities, and other shortcomings of free markets.

The imprecise use of Democratic Socialism does create confusion. Bernie points to Denmark as an example. Republican assholes point to Venezuela..

It means one or the other. It is not used to make socialism sound better.

Using socialism as a pejorative is a way of making predatory capitalism sound better.

It isn't a propaganda campaign to achieve socialism down the road. Literal Democratic Socialists openly want to achieve socialism via elections.

Guys like Bernie conflate Social Democracy with Democratic Socialism.

If Republicans keep going down the roads of White Nationalism, Predatory Monopolism, and Neo-Mercantilism; literal Democratic Socialism will become more popular.

If we are going to have centrally planned economies by corporate monopolies in their private interests; why not instead have government central planning in the public interest?

Try reading an authentic left site like  Democratic Socialists of America, the  Jacobin, or Mother Jones

I should say socialism ought to become more popular. Maybe people will celebrate   closing of rural hospitals, dismantling of fema, more bad economic news, ICE brown shirt tactics

Socialism becoming more popular is not a good thing and is avoidable. To start, Medicaid should be replaced with universal healthcare, not cut

I was there for 9 days last week or so and it was pretty nice, had a fantastic time with my friend.  Only drama I saw was a pro Iran protest, and some homeless fucker trying to give me a fentanyl laced dollar.  But I kept to all the nice areas I know for the most part.
