I love the Ogunjobi example since he turned his medicals in on time and came back clean, even got drafted a couple rounds ahead of his projection.  Doing medicals at the combine didn’t prevent something coming up later

He’s also about to enter his .. 7th? Year in the league?

Again, I find it really hard to believe that a GM on the verge of making a franchise altering pick that will likely determine whether or not he keeps his job would have such a laissez faire attitude toward the medicals of his future franchise quarterback. I could be wrong, but I highly doubt it.

This is the highest stakes in the sports world, not tiddly winks. It’s a no-brainer that any GM would definitely prefer to have such vital information sooner, rather than multiple weeks later. Being Caleb is the near unanimous #1 pick, I’m sure Poles was willing to wait it out, if not thrilled to do so.

Your example was an odd one though.  A guy who passed his physical at the combine, but later couldn't sign with a team after he failed one.  Then signed a 3yr/$28m deal with a different team (who he apparently passed a physical for).

Actually, you guys are right, it’s just the franchise and Poles’ career at stake. I’m sure Poles was totally cool to wait several weeks unnecessarily. Would have been a good time to take a 17 day trip to Europe!
