Funny how Elon went from being the darling of the left to their arch enemy
That's a bit of a stretch.
Aside from "The Left" not being some sort of genetic tribe like "Eskimos" or even a coherent developed tribe like "The Bears Fans", he's pretty much been bonkers for years, and huge swaths of "The Everyone" knows it.
Doesn't mean that the Tesla isn't pretty decent technology, and fairly awesome car and a pathway to potentially powering individual transport with non-fossil fuel. Doesn't mean that the solar panels and the battery tech isn't great. Doesn't mean that the rockets aren't cool (albeit why on earth we would use the rocket fuel on tourist trips I have no idea).
I bought a bunch of Tesla stock when I just thought of Musk as a bit of a mercurial guy. I posted as such in the famous jasn88 threads where he was shorting Facebook and Google. I sold it at 350 before the splits, it would be worth a lot more today. But I just decided the dude was flat out crazy. Entirely possible that Tesla stock goes below my sales price - he's doing enormous damage to his brand at the exact time that other automakers are rolling out more EVs.
My big red flags were the Hyperloop and Boring. Boring is basically "add another lane to the freeway", which hasn't worked for LA ever, and now you need to add a bottleneck at the start of the added lane with his elevators. Hyperloop is vaporware. Then he started getting into pissing matches on twitter with people who pointed this out, and it was clear that he's not Tony Stark, he's just some dude who fell into a bunch of money.
