Loyalty insider Indy Illini claims he talks to BU regularly and it is a given, and BU agrees, if they miss the tourney there will be a parting of ways.

I think this is a tourney team so not worried about missing it.
I do wonder what happens if we struggle down the stretch and have a one and done exit.

Being that the "Alpha's" will all be gone, the transfers will be gone (Domask, Harmon, Guerrier,) that leaves us with Rodgers, Harris, Hansberry, Johnson, DGL, it won't be terrible, but it won't be Goode either....

With all that said, could we even get a quality replacement based on that talent? Would Whit stand pat with BU with another early exit? I doubt it but talent doesn't speak to a high volume coach and that is considering all that okay talent stays and the cream of the crop Johnson stays as well?

Being in the top 25 in 3 pt attempts per game while in the bottom 25 in percentage is asking for trouble. Add in being in the bottom third in turnovers per game and stagnant half court possessions and you're just asking for more trouble.

Last season was a struggle.
Hopefully they have a better season this year.
I think they will.

If we move on expect everyone to leave.  The days of a coach inheriting a full cupboard are just over.

Zero question we will be starting from more or less square one.

There’s still like 3 top 50ish guys, three more top 100ish guys with experience (plus Dainja who wasn’t listed) in an era of instant portal gratification. I mean yeah they wouldn’t all stay but that’s not a disaster by any means. Certainly more than what he had coming in.

Well, if we lose first round this year we are kind of at square one. Would be 2 NCAA wins in 7 years.

Would be time for a change.
He would be 0-8 as coach in his career getting to second weekend.

Sounds kind of bleak when you put it that way.

The guy needs to break through. I think this team has a lot of potential if staff can get buy in.
I know people have questions about Underwood, but honestly WTF does Frazier bring to the culture?
He was supposed to be the tough D and effort leader and get everybody to be a dog guy.
Don't see it.

I don't really think that's something that can be easily taught... either you got the dog in ya or ya don't

I thought Underwood was supposed to red ass that into his players. At least that’s what I was told when he was hired.

I thought he was going to recruit kids that had it already... although I would imagine that with Illinois boosters, Chicago AAU clout chasers, shoe companies, other recruiting steering going on, and now the transfer portal nonsense, that might be a more difficult task than he originally imagined.
