2000---i remember a buddy giving me a thumbs up they beat Penn then i was sitting on couch as Florida trounced us

01---i was at a friends house as we beat Charlotte, don't recall Kansas, I remember being upset as we lost to zona

02-I sat by window as we lost to kansas

03-i remember being worried we would lose to WKU, then Notre Dame destroyed us

04- I remeber sitting at kitchen table as we beat cincy then getting stick to my stomach as duke beat us

05--my dad was flipping out at half against FDU, didn't watch Nevada game, Wasn't worried agaimst UW-M, sat through Zona game though I was about to turn it off, skippe dLouisville game....changed shirts at half against UNC

06-Watched us blow it vs washington

07--had no idea we were playing

09---watched last 4 minutes

11--missed UNLV, watched 2nd half vs kansas

13-Colorado, watched like last 10 minutes--Miami--2nd half?

21-drexel at home--loyola at bar then went for long walk

22-chattanooga at bar--houston at a different bar

23--arkansas at bar

No "spent the game on the toilet with gas"? Sad.

I'm not going into all that detail. The 1962-1963 team was the first one that captured my imagination and interest. They defeated Bowling Green (Howard Komives and Nate Thurmond) in the first round. They then  lost to eventual champ Loyola in the Sweet 16. I don't recall if we watched on the little fuzzy black & white TV or listened on the radio.

Fucking Loyola. I went to an Illini Loyola game at the Rosemont Horizon that the Illini lost.

I watched Frankie drop 30 on KU live in San Antonio 2001.

In our heyday, I generally preferred to watch games at home alone (so I could focus on the games without distractions). I remember being so amped up after the Arizona comeback I went for a 6-7 mile run after the game to burn that excess energy. Lol

Not Illini related but I was also in San Antonio for the Final Four that KU beat Memphis in. My best friend owns a major bar in SA (it was the “home bar” for UNC that year). We had tickets for the championship game but got really drunk on patron and never made it. We said “we’ll go at halftime.” Haha yeah, right. I watched the overtime in the piano bar he has in his place (there’s like 4 bars in one place). I rooted for KU like they were Illinois because I wanted to bathe in Weber lovers tears.

NEOhioIlliniFan, or whatever his name was, always knew you were a Kansas fan.

If I were a Kansas fan you’d think I’d be able to name a couple of their players since the Morris Twins. But alas, I can’t. I’ve always hated Kansas. I lived in Kansas a couple of years in the 90s and I found KU fans mostly insufferable. I never hated Self, though. And to some, that made you a “Kansas fan.”

NEOhioIlliniFan would claim this was all further evidence of your duplicity in claiming to be an Illini fan when you were always really a Kansas fan.

Yep. Nothing spells KU fan like 20 years on Illini message boards.

I'm convinced NEOhio and NOVA were plants. Just belligerent idiots to people trying to enjoy a thing.

Other than AZ 05 at a packed bar the memories after that are a lot of "well this sucks" sitting on my or someone else's house watching us lose to a less talented team and/or coaching the game away. This would describe the Bill Walton Game, the Brandon Roy game, the Seth Greenberg game, the we lost to a fucking 12 seed? game, the Sister Jean game and the shit since.
