For me, it's hard to watch an NBA playoff game that I don't have a dog in the fight.  It's wash, rinse, repeat.  NHL, on the other-hand, is engaging no matter who's playing.  Unless of course, Ken Hitchcock is still coaching.  Avs are up against it tonight and it's looking like Russian interference may be decider.
