They have some degree of qualified immunity. That doesn’t mean the LMPD couldn’t have been successfully sued.

It also doesn't mean it would be easy to sue them when you don't follow instructions as cops are scraping a dead body off the ground.

We don’t know what happened because the police officer didn’t have his body cam on like he’s supposed to.
"He commented more than once that, 'You know, Hitler did some good things, too,'" Kelly recalled to The Times. Kelly said he would usually quash the conversation by saying "nothing (Hitler) did, you could argue, was good," but that Trump would occasionally bring up the topic again.

Was he supposed to have it on while he was directing traffic as they scrapped up a dead person? I do not know. Do you? I understand that he should have turned it on when the Golfer ignored instructions and the incident occurred. I could also see that not being the first thing to think of when you are almost getting run over.

It’s supposed to be on at all times while
he’s on duty. Keep in mind this is an officer who’s been reprimanded multiple times.

If he was allowed to pick and choose when to turn on the body cam there would be very little point in wearing it.

Interesting.

Point to me an officer who has never been reprimanded and I will point to you one who isn't doing his or her job!

Hot take. “Doing his job” alright.
