1. Shocked that he missed the point?

2. Love the switch to "Underchiever" at the end there....

Also love the balancing act between “he’s doing great” and “he sucks” that you’re trying to pull off here.

Yep, Brad and staff just keep getting lucky recruiting and coaching players that end up being good college basketball players and win league championships. Just a fluke guys.

The conversation seemed to be heavily centered on Kofi. So if you were talking about Andres Filez, “my bad?”

Never thought I’d see the day you became an ankle biter. The previous three posts were specifically about Kofi. The point was no one could realistically expect him to be back to back 2nd team then 1st team All-American.

After his first several games, you could see Kofi would be a big contributor and the 2019-2020 team was a tourney team.  Dom didn't think so.

Over the course of time, Dom has gotten more exaggerated and less truthful in his feverish manifestos regarding Illini sports.

Dude is caught in the downward spiral of addiction, such as drugs and alcohol and teenage tennis players

Well said.

Dom's a broken record.  If the Illini beats a Power 5, it's either due to luck or officiating.  He's like a 5-year old.

If that’s the case, yeah. Didn’t take long to see Kofi was better than advertised as I recall. But I also never paid attention to Dom. I’d say he’s only really hit my radar since his awesome video post.

Feliz, Trent, etc.

Again, the previous several posts were pretty specifically about Kofi. I’ve had zero complaints about Underwood’s recruiting and player development the last 2-3 years.

For the record, I’m not bashing on Underwood here. I think he’s been about as good as we could realistically expect him to be. But the fact remains, the overwhelming majority of his success here was with two players. Kofi and Ayo. When they haven’t been around, the results have been mixed at best. He’s off to a weird start again this year, but I expect them to improve. I actually thought this team could contend for a national title a month ago. I hope they do.

“Our team isn’t as good when we don’t have the All Americans that our current coach recruited and developed”

No shit, Sherlock.

What a weird fucking argument.

Underwood didn’t recruit Trent. Trent was already an established good player.

He was a fringe top 100 player and played every minute of his college career for Underwood.

Not sure sure how much of the development of Ayo I’d attribute to Underwood. He was a highly driven program changing recruit his senior year in HS. But let’s face it, outside of the two-three year run with Ayo and Kofi he’s been bad to mixed results.

I think he’ll be fine. But if you’re being objective, all of his success has come with those two players. Not sure I credit Underwood for making Kofi an All-American. I’m not trying to take anything away from Underwood. He’s been a very competent captain of the ship.

My bad. Thought he played one year for Groce. He still wouldn’t have been here if not for Groce. Lucked into him in a way.

But it didn’t take long to see Trent was a player. I’m sure Underwood worked his magic to get him off to an impressive start as a frosh.

This is why Custard is a coach shill. Giving him the credit for “developing” Ayo. Now that’s funny. Ayo was a self-driven program changing player from day 1. Might have been better at Duke. Who knows?

It’s perfectly acceptable to say Underwood has been a perfectly competent head coach who seems to have a knack for putting together staffs and teams that perform well. That’s not over or under selling it.

So, uh, who is responsible for getting those guys to play in an Illinois jersey?

That’s why this is such a weird argument.

“He did good with these guys but the jury is out on how he can do without them”

Well no shit, he specifically recruited them and then won with them. There’s no reason at all to think he can’t or won’t do the exact same thing again. It wasn’t luck, it was excellent program management and player development.
