Honestly I think it’s a good move. I don’t understand the hate. Especially from ESPN who graded it an F for the Bears. He’s actually performed much better than Young, especially in the run game, and has never missed a game in his career. That’s huge. Young health-wise was a huge risk and why he went for less than Sweat.

And you don’t make this move unless he’s signing. And you’re not getting a DE of this caliber this year in the draft either, so I don’t see the downside.

Hey hey now, they graded it a D-.

Unsure how that is relevant to the argument that trading for him now is just wasting another 2d round pick.

He is going to be the best DL on the Bear. The issue is what is the point if can't sign him?

I accidentally quoted you. I was gonna post that and then reply to this with something else. My bad.

A reasonable take, and kind of where I am on the trade (let’s wait and see).

If he does not sign, you have him for a year and 10 games. Meanwhile, you miss out on possibly getting a long term player at 2, maybe even a good OL

If you really wanted him, you could sign him as a FA and save the 2.

I don’t think he was gonna make it past the deadline. Somebody would’ve traded for him if it wasn’t the Bears in my opinion. Not many options this productive available now or in the draft, or off-season this year for DE. I’m sure he will be signed.

Ironically, Montez Sweat is one of the guys I made the case several years back that the Bears should have/could have drafted (with one of those 1sts) instead of trading for Mack.

If I said that, would you have considered it "reasonable"? LOL

Always possible, but was there any talk he may go somewhere else (or was Poles bidding against himself like Pace did for Mitch)?

I think you trade for Sweat and don’t take the chance and lock him up here. Chase Young is a rental in San Fran and will hit FA market. 49ers don’t have the cap space to sign him. We could walk away with both next year and this in my opinion was the right move and player to trade for.

As are you! Isn't there usually reports out there on who has interest in a player?

I agree I am. We do know for sure that we got him though. As to who else was interested and/or who we were bidding against, we’ll never know. I do think we could have both though next year, as Young will be a FA.
