How much are you The Twitter people willing to pay monthly for the honor of using it? Isn't this the latest thing?
Zero. I stopped using it a month or two into Musk's tenure and don't miss it. Occasionally when something is happening I'll go do a search (earthquake, sports event, train delay) but the real earthquake stats can be found via a web search, I guess I can wait to see the clips of some play, and so many other people quit twitter that the train delay info isn't really what it used to be anyway.
The last point there is the real problem for Musk. Because the value in twitter is the content created by users, if some subset of users balks at paying, the content goes down, making the value less, resulting in more people quitting, and so on and so on.
There are some persons that - much like this message board - I only "knew" via virtual interactions on twitter. In the case of twitter, these persons created interactions where I would learn a lot of information, which while not particularly valuable to me in terms of anything actionable, were brain stimulating and part of my knowledge base. It only takes 20% of them to vanish to make the feed less stimulating to the point where twitter is just boring crap. And once that happens the other 80% quit too.
I'd love to see a comparison from 12 months ago to today of number of tweets from the people I follow. I suspect it's down by 50% or more.
